Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I'm not worried about not getting Aldridge, I'm hearing whispers about the Suns in contact negotiations with Nikoloz Tskitishvili anyway.

That is a huge bonus chip if LaMarcus feels bad about leaving Portland (I'm guessing he does), if we can give the Kieff to seal it, that is huge, if it is important to him to leave Portland with something...SA can't do that....GREAT thought.
oh its not even lma being sentimental it's a straight up benefit to his pocket book. If he can get Portland to do the sign and trade on a 1+1 he can get a 5 year deal next summer with the highest possible raises. It's in his best financial interest to do so.

But he could do the 1+1 anywhere right? Us being able to send Kieff to Portland if he cares gives us an edge, if he cares about not leaving Portland empty handed.
yes he "can" do a 1+1 anywhere but unless Portland agrees to do the sign and trade he would lose his bird rights and ability to get a true 5 year max next summer. San Antonio could convince Portland to do it but if I'm Portland I would make them pay me assets to accommodate.

My thought process is Portland would gladly take keif in the suns situation. He's a good player on what is about to become a great contact.

I believe WeekapauGroove nailed it with his post. A poster on the Blazer board said Aldridge wanted to do a 1 + 1. If Portland is willing to trade him, Aldridge would really cash in next year on a 5 year max with the Suns holding his bird rights. It seems like Aldridge is telling the Spurs that the Suns are willing to do this and is giving them on opportunity to do the same. That is why he visiting San Antonio again. I know Portland is frustrated that Aldridge is leaving but they can take Morris, maybe a pick and get a TPE rather than nothing.

Now I would assume Portland is willing to do a sign and trade, why you may ask. Because if the were'nt willing there would be no need for this back and forth. He would get the same amount from the Suns or Spurs if he signed as a free agent. Because he can only sign a four year deal. With the explosion of the cap this decision will come down to a lot of money. For those of you who know if the Suns get Aldridge what will a five year max cost the Suns the next year. Thank you for you continued support.

Yeah, if that is something that LMA is considering (as a service to the Blazers I suppose rather than losing him for nothing), we frankly have a lot better stuff to offer to Portland than San Antonio can.

thank you. I think you're right that this might be the delay in the process right now. San Antonio might be trying to work out this deal with portland right now. Since the spurs don't have any players to give Portland it's probably about how many picks they give them. The question really is how much will San Antonio risk knowing if this year doesn't work out lma might just bolt. He seems like the type who likes this process since he literally met with a quarter of the teams this summer. So he could be the guy next summer who could bolt after a year even leaving a little money on the table.

It's a risk the suns are taking too if they sign him.

Edit- you asked what he could get with full bird right next year. It's in the neghborhood of 5 years 160 mil if the cap projections are right.

Waiting, waiting, waiting...meanwhile Tobias Harris signs a 4 year 64 million deal. WTF? Why can't exactly the players we covet seem to make up their minds? Hate losing out on all the other player during that span.

Just to be real clear this is not about LMA helping Portland. It's about him helping himself make the most money next year. If Portland won't play ball on a sign and trade he loses millions of dollars over the next 6 years.
