Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
I hope McD recognizes the west is even more stacked and we need to stay back and wait this out for another year or so.
If we can get Milsap for a decent contract, like two years, then do it and use him as trade bait. Otherwise stay the course

The point is that our owner is one of the worst in the league. He's run out of patience and is probably pressuring McD to make a win now move in order to keep his job.
Sarver can't be that stupid.

The Millsap fascination is probably down to his brother being with us and Watson playing with Millsap in Utah.

Any time you get the opportunity to spend 1/3 of your cap on a guy whos a decade older than your core players and also plays the same position as 2 recent top 10 picks you just can't pass that up..... suns logic.

Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
A lot of people are saying there's nothing we can do in this period due to the west being stacked and super teams contending and to wait it out. But what happens if the trend keeps on evolving and when this one ends another one begins, you never know. We could end up waiting a decade. We can't keep waiting for something to end, or for players to develop, because the future in this league is unpredictable. You have no choice but to adapt and at the same time develop the players you have along the way.

During the Spurs dominance, GS built through the draft and made shrewd moves in both free agency (Iggy) and trade (Bogut) which allowed them to rise as the Spurs fell. There is a blueprint that works. Of course, heavy amounts of luck are also involved.

Sign him for 3 years and his cap hit comes off the books when a lot of our young guys will need extensions, that's OK.
At what point in the Devin Booker era do we want to win? All these players leaving their teams are chasing winners, if we don't do anything to try and put a competing roster around Booker why is he going to resign here?? Obviously we can just offer him more money, but I think we gotta get past the point of tanking and hoping the rest of the west gets worse.
I still maintain chasing an 8th seed and getting our young guys involved in competitive meaningful basketball is the best thing for them. Obviously not for the sake of mortgaging the future, but I don't think signing Millsap mortgages any future

This is easily the best post of 2017 on the Suns board! Bravo!

what you're saying makes perfect sense and I agree, but I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or not lol because what we've done in comparison to GS is almost on par, we've built through the draft, got ourselves some nice pieces and now it's time to make some moves to give us the boost into the playoffs, and then mix and match (hopefully with some luck) and establish a core to become contenders like they have.
Milsap could very well be our Bogut, which helps gets us into the playoffs, and we continue to build through S&T's and FA while our guys develop and learn how to be winner's.

I am okay with Millsap being a third of the salary for two years. I am okay with Millsap being a big part of the salary for three years if say Knight is moved and Len or chandler is moved with the other center , (Len goes, Tyson stays, vice versa) coming back
I do think its wrong to have Millsap on a deal longer than three years. And if he wants more than 3 years, I hope Ryan McD and more importantly, Robert Sarver is smart enough and patient enough to let him go to another team.
I just dont' want Sarver or Ryan to get impatient and be caught in a cap stranglehold , paying the lux tax as they didn't have the foresight in the summer of 2017 to understand the summers of 2019, 2020 and 2021.
I go back to my original trade for a veteran PF type - granted, the Spurs would need to want Dudley - but Aldridge for two years - just because it gives the Front Office, coach or whomever the "veteran PF" they seem to want this offseason while not jacking with the long term salary cap. My move is more for that and saving the organization from a LONG TERM mistake than I think Aldridge is better than Millsap or Love or Griffin. Its more - if this trade happened, its saving the organization from itself.

I have no problem trying to win or spending on guys. What I do have a problem with is getting yourself capped out for the next 3 years on a guy whos so old there is literally 0 chance hes part of the longterm solution. If they do this then you take yourself out of the free agent game for until 2020. If your going to do that then find a guy in his 20s for gods sake.

Come on Twolves - max the heck out of Millsap. Give him the Twin Cities, keys to both Minneapolis and St. Paul. Garnett, Teague, Butler, all show up for the meeting

save the Suns from a horrible long term mistake
by the way, love the Scotto >Kennedy >>>> Schultz
where do Tyler and Broussard show up in that
I just know Schultz is the worst - sipping too much of Daddys coffee

torn because if Hayward goes to Miami, those two picks lose value but for sure the 2018 pick would convey and be usable as only top 8 protected
Suns tried this with Aldridge - didn't work

Re: Trade & Free Agency Ideas & Discussion 2
I'd rather wait out this year. Our youngsters need the playing time, we need them to play in order to figure out what we really have here. Love, Blake, Millsap are not the answers. If we have a good enough thing going forward, we really have a good chance at Cousins next year. I m not saying we have to do that, but he is a lot better than any of these guys, and he would come for free to an already stacked, up and coming team with 2 draftpicks coming in.

Yes but we are where they were a couple of years ago (or, at least a year ago). When players like Bender are ready to contribute on a nightly basis, then we can start trying to build through FA.
