Didn't realize he had another year on his deal after this one, don't think it makes sense trading for him knowing that. Unless Anderson is going out. Even if the Suns can't get a max guy there are a lot of FA next year that can really help the team. Rubio is at the top of my list of the non-max players.

The most realistic options for this year I think would be one of the expiring vets on the Clippers. I can't see them keeping both and they need to free up roster spots.

I’d be confident with Okobo/Melton in year two going forward but it looks like another transition year at PG which isn’t good for Booker and Ayton. I’d still look to move on Teodosic just to start off the season and if one of Okobo/Melton/Shaq is further along than we expected then hand over the keys. I’m very excited about the defense influx of long defenderd with Ariza, Bridges and Melton. If Melton can learn stroke it this trade is a HR.

Regarding Dragic: The Suns are a totally different team now AND Dragic is in a better situation.

-The Suns now have a coach that he is familiar with and loves playing for.
-The Suns no longer have a log jam at PG.
-Beldsoe and IT are long gone.
-Dragic was being limited in his CONTRACT year. He secured his big pay day.

Dragic would make us a playoff team on paper. And that starting 5 could all nail the 3's! TJ would torch 2nd units.

Dragic/
Booker/Bridges
Ariza/TJ
RAnderson/Bender
Ayton

BTW...Booker, TJ, and Bender would be the only key guys left over from last year. :o Think about that!

So are you saying you are trading JJ, Chandler and Okobo or Melton for Goran or who exactly?

Exactly. Milo could be had for very cheap, is on a cheap deal, and is only signed for the year. His passing is off the charts and will get our guys some easy buckets, which really helps boost their confidence. Just give him the starting gig, and maybe limit his minutes to around 25 or so while giving the rookies some playing time. By mid-season we should know a little better what we have in Melton and Okobo, and maybe give them a few starts.

Look, we arnt competing for the playoffs yet, the West is hella strong, we are just looking to improve our record by as much as possible. We need to get the team better before we can even think about playoff ball. Next season you have Milo/Ariza/Chandler/Daniels/Holmes all coming off the books, along with Anderson who i suspect will be bought out as well, so thats around 6 players or so that we have this season who will most definitely NOT be here next year. If Melton/Okobo arnt ready yet, we can always use some of that capspace to grab a real PG in FA like Rubio (Who i feel the Jazz will let go) or Kemba along with whatever/whoever we plan to plug in to SF/PF if Jackson or Bender dont pan out.

When it comes to Dragic, i feel the Heat need a starting PG in return. If something does happen i would suspect it to be a 3-way with Kemba going to Miami, Dragic coming here, and Warren/(Someone from Miami)/along with a pick going to the Hornets, as they have the french connection in Tony Parker and Nicolas Batum in waiting.

Actually i could see them having a strong interest in Okobo because of said French connection. Who better for him to learn from than the best PG to ever come out of France? But it would definitely cost them if Okobo were to be involved, and i honestly dont know what i would take as their roster is pretty poor, but the addition of Melton to the Suns does make Okobo a bit more expendable if Charlotte were to offer up us a future 1st.

This goes back to my post earlier - maybe with Dragic its also about getting another player for the team for the next few years. Dragic has a player option and if he exercises it - there goes free agency. Now, I am not sure if Arthur was bought out or not as yet - but between WAiters, Olynyk, James Johnson or Richardson - do one of those players fit the Suns to help with Riles cap space next summer. As if ARthur is stil a Suns player - between he, Chandler and Daniels, thats 25m or so of contracts. Add a Reed or Okobo and you probably can do Dragic + XXX Player.

So, if you are getting Dragic - it might have to be a multi=player deal as like BWG said - free agency for the future is done.

The Clippers might be the cheapest option; but Dragic is intriguing.

I just wish I knew the price for Milos Teodosic. We all have been speculating for months, Igor even talked about him to Serbian radio but the Clippers still have him when they could have waived him or even traded him to anybody, not just the Suns. So, yes, probably still a possibility of getting Milos - my guess, it would be Chandler for Milos and Boban to clear a roster spot for Clippers.

Dragic, Teodosic, George Hill, Beverly, Tyus Jones are my top 5 options. Not sure Tyus Jones is capable of being a good starter but he’s been buried in that lineup and should be cheap. I’m not interested in guys who are obviously destined to be career backups like TJ McConnell or Delon Wright. We probably won’t get our PG of the future for another year, this season is about finding a stopgap answer.

Rozier, in a similar vein, hasn’t shown much and Boston will demand an arm and a leg. Not only that but we’d have to overpay to keep him next summer. I do recognize the upside with him but I’d prefer to let someone else take that gamble.

Kemba would be nice but I’m not willing to give up more than TJ and a lottery protected first for him as he his an upcoming F/A. And I wouldn’t be willing to take back bad salary in a deal.

Lillard is not for sale. We’d have to offer more than he’s worth to get Portland to consider, and he’s worth a lot. On the other hand McCollum might be available but the fit here isn’t very good.

Utah isn’t trading Rubio. That would make absolutely no sense for them based on the success they had last season.

Yeah, it would be a salary dump for them as they didnt want Milo to stick around as it is. I remember that when he decided to opt in to his contract the Clippers were going to buy him out....but at the last second had a change of heart (Some said it would be to use his small contract as filler in a trade). Since Milo and Boban are both expirings, a straight up trade for Chandler would be a win/win for both teams, as we do have 1 extra roster spot to fill and take on no long term money, and the Clippers still have the same exact amount of money on an expiring, but free up an extra roster spot to take on a youngster for their re-build (They are keeping their options open for next season and have 8 expiring players).

As much as i would love to get PatBev instead, i am starting to believe what all Clipper fans have been saying, they want to keep him, give him the start while helping mentor young Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is very similar and the same kind of PG as PatBev, while looking to trade off Milo.

I want to know already our roster for next season. Until we do not add a PG everything can change.

I do not know what is McDonough waiting for.

Waiting to find us our best route to take, which PG's are available and at what price and who would help move our team forward the most......which is better than just rushing into it.

Im sure we have made plenty of calls around the league to see who is available first. Second step is to choose who we are interested in out of that list of players. From there we make calls back to the teams and see what the price for said players is, and widdle down the list from there. Its a process, and one that im glad McD is going through rather than just making a rush judgement to please a small part of the fanbase that cant wait.

I'd try and get Delon Wright on the cheap, great size and still relatively young at 26. But doubt TOR would want/need Warren with Kawhi there. How about this:

PHX get
Delon Wright
CJ Miles

POR get
TJ Warren

TOR get
Mo Harkless

In hindsight this is likely selling low on TJ, but I just don't see many deals out there that can net us a young-ish starting calibre PG, while also holding onto JJ and Bridges so they can develop and get minutes. Buy out Miles or see if we can flip him for a 2nd...

Of course, I'd have spent the $15m on VanVleet and he'd be our starting PG, but anyway.

Ayton
Anderson
Ariza
Booker
Wright
----
Holmes
Bender
Bridges
JJ
Okobo
Melton
Harrison
Daniels
Chandler

I probably would even be okay adding one of Milton, Okobo or Reed to the Heat if it were the Bucks pick. Granted the Suns would be losing a lot of cap space for next summer.

I thought about a three team deal with Miami

Warren to the Raptors
Dragic to the Suns

Miles, Wright, Daniels and bucks pick to the Heat. This does save the Raptors a bit of money next year

I thought of MIles/Wright to the Suns for Warren but Miles has a player option next year so would probably take Warren over Wright/Miles.

Oh i know how much he's getting paid, its just i believe that the NBA will end up increasing the cap by $10M+ in the upcoming years to help accommodate these big market teams that have been giving these super contracts out.
