This feels too much like the Anthony Bennet draft.

Oh it's very very similar. Both just trash top ends but ok depth of role players. Now that draft did produce Giannis so you just never know.alamin330 wrote:This feels too much like the Anthony Bennet draft.

Its funny because i just got done watching a pre-lotto draft talk Givony & Schmitz did back in April and that was mentioned. That was when almost everyone had Edwards as the top pick. They mentioned similarities between him and guys like Waiters and Bennet. Even back then they both were saying that Ball is the top talent in the draft and really the only guy that has the advanced skills and potential to be a star player (But that only happens if he puts in the work and wants it to happen).

I like him, he is skilled and is talented.
But I am not sure about him being better than Maxey...but probably he has a better personality or something like that.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
Ok, i mentioned Givony earlier, his partner Mike Schmitz is also really really good when it comes to discussing/breaking down draft prospects, so im posting some vids that he did recently where he sits down with a draft prospect and breaks down game footage with them. Really good stuff! S**t like this is why Givony and Schmitz are the best at what they do!
Hayes:
Haliburton:
Lewis Jr:
Avdija:
Toppin:
Smith:
Bey:
Nnaji:
Okongwu:
Nesmith:
**BONUS**
I thought this was really cool and a really really good watch, in January he sat down with Ayton and went over game footage from the first half of the season. Shows how much his defense has really improved and that his Basketball IQ isnt as close to being bad as many here like to say it is. Really insightful and highly recommended.

Not a fan of Lewis. Maybe if ALL other PGs at the top are taken, but he just doesn't do enough. His speed is elite, and he's not a terrible shooter, but we can get guys who do a lot more at 10.
Honestly this isn't a hard draft for us. Boatloads of PGs including a number who are big enough to play the 2. 2 PFs who have real arguments to be picks for us, and a SG who has the most well-rounded game in the draft. All can be there at 10.
Hayes, Haliburton, Vassell, Toppin, Avdija. Don't screw this up.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
Hayes, Haliburton, Toppin and Avdija are likely all gone by #10.
In all likelihood, the ones available for consideration will be Vassell, Patrick Williams, Jalen Smith and Kira.
Bane is certainly under consideration from the sound of it, but #10 is too high for him. I wonder if Boston would give us their #14 and #26 for #10? Could see us then getting a couple of our favoured targets.
On Kira, I can definitely see the appeal. There are some flaws in his game that he needs to work on, but he certainly is one of the players who has star potential in this draft. I think he's also highly regarded as a high-character kid.

All of these guys are expected to be gone by #10, so we need to be ready to pick another player.
When asked about what he is looking for in this draft James Jones remarked playmaking IIRC. Kira is probably one of the best creating his own shot and he seems already a decent to solid facilitator and passer. At just 19 years old he has a lot of potential as an scoring PG, so I understand why he is a serious option at #10 for us.
With the way the league is changing with more and more defenses switching everything you need to have good shot creators to take advantage of mismatches. Kira is gonna be difficult to stop for big guys since day one.

I like Kira because I value speed/quickness at the PG position. We saw it with Payne's play in the bubble those types of guys put pressure on a D. Plus as others have mentioned he's supposedly a high character good work ethic type who is young and the kind of guy who might soak up knowledge playing behind Rubio for a couple years.
Now with that said I'd still take guys like Haliburton and Hayes over him if they are there. Heck I'd personally have both the FSU guys ahead too but I certainly wouldn't be upset if they took Lewis.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
Whilst I have no doubt that the suns have interest in Lewis for his elite potential/ attributes, What if this has dual purpose? In that they might have him as a strong consideration on their board, But they're trying to put pressure on a team like the Knicks to take him at 8, If for no other reason than to push someone they actually have higher on their board who they covet past the knicks, And down to them at 10.
I'm just wondering if Lewis is actually their top target, or if like most every other franchise, They're also playing chess ( putting out smoke) with other teams in order to get a specific target prospect to fall to 10? Or to try and stimulate interest in a trade up scenario from a team in the early to late teens, That they know specifically is coveting Lewis in order to pressure a trade for the 10 with them getting Bane and additional assets? Might sound a bit crazy? But then again, Maybe not so much in this draft.
I only say this, because this is not like the new suns front office to so easily leak information. They normally are very secretive and/ or cryptic with their intent. And this draft is already seeing so many teams creating smoke and potential misdirection in regards to their reported prospect/ draft interests. Feel free to disagree with me of course. But when was the last time that this suns regime was so candid and forthcoming with their draft plans?
Now having said all that, I would be perfectly fine with Lewis at 10. I think his elite speed/ penetration ability will be very enticing for the gravity he'd create for our perimeter shooters. But I'd also look for an additional deal to be made that night for either Bane specifically, Or even one of Isiah Joe/ Sam Merrill/ Skylar Mays or some other elite shooter to add to their perimeter weapons? Any which way you slice it, It's going to be a crazy night!

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
This is really interesting, but i cant lie, i got lost about halfway through. It would be REAL interesting if someone with superior intelligence and way smarter than me could crack this formula and apply it to this draft.

I have also found this site very useful when trying to analyze who in the draft is at the top of what category and where they all rank against each other.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospect Watch
.....and something tells me that all these guys (Except the top guy at #1) are all on our list.
https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/nba-draft-2020-5-best-three-point-shooters-tyrese-haliburton-aaron-nesmith-saddiq-bey
But damn its a shame that Markus Howard is barely 6 feet tall. 28 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.3 apg, 42.2 FG% (7.5/14.6), 41.2 3PT% (4.2/10.1), 84.7 FT% is pretty insane. The shooting, percentages, and advanced stats are all superior to Trae Young.

I don't read too much into them talking to a player because I'm sure they are talking to a lot of dudes. I would say it's obvious they are at least doing their due diligence on the PGs.Ghost of Kleine wrote:Whilst I have no doubt that the suns have interest in Lewis for his elite potential/ attributes, What if this has dual purpose? As far as smokescreens this FO doesn't seem like they really play those kind of games but I also don't think they leak much of anything to the press so it's really hard to predict what they want to do. Like last year was there any indication at all they like Cam?
