SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Definitely makes sense for the Suns!
Makes complete sense for the Suns but my guess, he will go to the Clippers. LA is LA.

Not every player is going to get a 1st, or in this case, the Jazz just wanted to offload Sexton for an expiring contract. Sexton isn't very good, he's not really a ceiling raiser.

If the choice is Tyus Jones or CP3 - -I don't think its that tough of a choice -- if truly the decision is the Suns. But CP3 has some say in this as well

Hm, Shams also said Detroit paused contract negotiations. Perhaps they become a potential Allen suitor with a need for spot up shooting.
The Suns would save almost $7m sending him to the Pistons for Fontenecchio and another player
That was really the only option as I don't think they would move Ivey for Allen
I wonder if they could do a sign and trade for Shroder at like $8m -- so the Suns get the savings but still get a person of value. A 1+1 type contract
Suns cant actually take a signed-and-traded player. I like Schröder as a TPMLE option but it doesnt seem like they're going to cut enough salary to open that up and it also seems like Schröder may have better offers elsewhere.
Okay. thanks. Forgot they can't do the S&T in the apron level they are at
And no, the Suns shouldn't do something stupid to just be able to sign any player to the TPMLE or the MLE. Its okay if this is a bridge year, resetting the cap, etc.

[Stein, Fischer] A return to the Phoenix Suns has become a tangible option for Chris Paul in this free agency period. The Los Angeles Clippers, another one of Paul's former teams, also interest in a reunion. The Charlotte Hornets were planning to make a run for Paul, but are not expected to do so.

I think nurk and Sexton had same contract lengths. I saw the logic was that Sexton is a floor raiser and Jazz are trying to lose lol

Basically an expiring for an expiring. Austin Ainge did say that they are not tanking though.

Oh dang. Didn't realize Sexton was expiring too, I thought he had one more year left. I didn't think Sexton was very good, but that's just my personal opinion I suppose

Its harder after the Williams trade but there are not-crazy cost cutting moves they could do to get to the tax MLE if they really wanted. The full MLE though, yeah that would take jumping through some inadvisable hoops.

I propose an expanded trade: Suns get Sexton/Bridges, Utah gets Nurkic, Charlotte gets Beal.

I thought Ainge was going to make the Jazz better. They are a mess. They have draft picks that really do not want to go there and a roster that is horrible other than Markkanen.
They used to be a franchise that competed every year. Their roster is far worse than ours and we are not happy.
Danny Ainge is Overrated.

There appears to be trades out there for Beal but not sure any of them will make us better. We probably should just ride with him or until hopefully his value goes up with the new head coach and we can make a good trade.

The biggest issues that Beal’s contract is so big that it limits your ability to move it. If you can get multiple smaller it becomes easier make deals with them.

If CP is Ok with playing very limited minutes, I’m ok. I cannot forget how bad he slowed down the offense his last year here. Let’s not forget Ott wants to play fast, CP is the opposite, he wants slowed down, half court offense. I mean that would be fine if we had a go to power forward or go to center with low post skills/back to the basket skills but we don’t.
Expecting CP to play 35+ minutes a game with positive results isn’t realistic with how young we have become. He’s 40. Life doesn’t speed up at 40.

Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread Part 3
I don't think Blazers would do this... but I also didn't think they would trade for Jrue Holiday.
Suns -
Jerami Grant
Robert Williams III
Blazers -
Bradley Beal
2 2nd round picks
Blazers move forward with a starting lineup of Jrue, Sharpe, Avdija, Toumani, and probably Clingan. Blazers likely trade DA to have Yang be the backup to Clingan for the year.
For the Suns, Jerami Grant is not a bad starting PF. He had a pretty awful year though averaging 14.4 points per game, shooting 37% from the field. Additionally, he only played 47 games. Suns probably buy out Robert Williams III to shed a little cap relief. Suns then sign CP3. Trade Nick Richards for cap relief.
CP3 / Gil
Booker / Green / Brea
Brooks / Dunn / Grayson
Grant / Fleming / Royce
Williams / Maluach

Charlotte got positive assets back for Nurkic. Suns are the team everyone is getting over on is the unfortunate truth.

The Suns don't have leverage in trades because Ishbia was so terrible those 8 months. And if Bartlestein or Jones had just read the CBA - truly, the Beal trade never happens. Or it shouldn't have happened
So the Suns can't just offload players for a nominal pick.
Like O'Neale and Allen - teams know the Suns situation and they should hold them over a barrel.
