I checked the list and my suspicions were confirmed - the rest of list is equally trash.
He's noting special. Thats for sure. The league doesn''t place a premium on dime a dozen hero balling undersized guards with questionable shot selection , a lack of a natural position and an inability to consistently finish around the rim. He just has no fluidity to his game and can't manage a clock to save his life when facilitating a offense leading him to hurl contested threes or drive in the lane in a last effort to draw a foul instead of looking to involve teammates. He's coming an ankle surgery but so far in preseason he's been destroyed by bigger 2s off defensive rotations and can't hold his own on the other end. He'll have to shoot at an elite clip behind the arc on an expanded volume while playing predominantly off the ball or else he's a net negative whenever he's on the court. Too bad we've already over-invested in him by locked him in longterm so we can't just relegate him to a Sixth Man role and he will probably get undeserving starer minutes even if Booker continues to quickly blossom ahead the plan
This seems right, but I haven't watched him enough. I am still worried we blew trading a likely very high pick for a guy who isn't really a difference maker and might be best suited as your backup combo guard (and possibly not THAT great at that). I want to trust McD but it's tough. For the most part, he seems to make pretty good decisions under the circumstances (though he puts himself into some bad ones..so that is on him). Hopefully Knight does better than I expect. I am not sure what McD sees in him but I know he is a stand up guy, was a highly rated guy, and perhaps (hopefully) just needs the right situation and time to find his groove.
I just hope that if he IS a disappointment and the team under performs because of him, that Hornacek doesn't get the boot, because if Knight isn't good, it's not on the coach....if the coach goes, we probably take another step backwards, and a huge majority of the fanbase is more turned off, and the drill drilling the hole digs deeper.
