I'm not pushing for it, but there is a lot of sense to moving Bledsoe so Knight can shine. If wins aren't the motivation (yet again...) then maximizing value while developing guys should be. Getting minutes for Knight is one way to do that. He needs to work in the system and realize he is not the go-to guy. He should pass and initiate the offense. When he has confidence in the guys he is passing to, he passes more willingly. He has such great physical tools, we could really use a chance to help him get his mind straight. A three-way trade with CAVS is the way to do it, but it has to be a way that gives Dan Gilbert assurances that if LBJ leaves he will still be able to field a team.
PHX trades: Bledsoe, Chandler, Warren
PHX receives:Zinger, Noah, Frye
Knight/Ulis
Booker/ DJJ/ Reed
Jackson/ Bender/ Peters
Chriss/ Williams/Dudley
Zinger/Frye/Noah
PHX moves forward is asset building by bringing in rising star Porzingis, while opening up immediate time for Jackson. Knight gets to rehab his name in a low-pressure environment. He may still fail, but he would be given the opportunity. The expense is taking on Noah for the remainder or his contract.
CLE trades: Irving, Love, Frye
CLE receives: Bledsoe, Melo, Chandler, Warren, NYK 2018 #1 pick
Bledsoe/ Felder
Smith/ Shumpert/ Jefferson
Melo/ Warren/ Osman
LBJ/ Thompson
Chandler/ Tavares
CLE pulls the trigger to get better with players LBJ is known to want in CLE with him. It also protects Gilbert by providing future or rising assets as well in Warren and the 2018 pick. Even if LBJ leaves, CLE will still be able to compete with who is left.
NYK trades: Melo, Zinger, Noah, 2018 #1 pick
NY receives: Irving, Love
Irving/Ntilikina
Lee/ Baker
THJ/ Thomas/ Kuzminskas
Love/
Willy/ O'Quinn
NYK sends out yesterdays news to generate some new buzz and win. They keep Willy in this scenario and bring in Irving and Love at the cost of Zinger and Melo. That team will be ready to be a top 4-6 seed in the East. NY should smile despite the cost.
