Myck Kabongo is appalled you would even ask such a question!

sunsfan88 wrote:Haha I was just thinking cause their both PGs who can't shoot and not really big or athletic. But both are amazing playmakers, but Kabongo may be better in that regard too.

Lookin at the Porland board: the fans aren't as high on Waiters as some people think, so I hope that attitude is reflected from their FO.

The reason I feel it is Portland with the promise, is that Chad Ford had an article at one point (when Waiters was slotted in the late teens) that said one gm said he is the 2nd star in the draft...Wade potential. At that point, Olshey was the Clips gm. It wouldn't make sense for a gm to say that IF he had a lottery pick (he's probably want to keep his opinions to himself and hope the guy dropped.)
Then, about a week later, Olshey got hired to be the Blazers gm and suddenly Waiters has a promise and shuts down workouts. Ford's reporting on the Blazers' interest in Waiters since then almost seems to me as if he is protecting a valuable source (if he has a good relationship with Olshey, he wouldn't want to blow it.) Ford has never, in his mock, had Portland taking Waiters, but I suspect he thinks they will, but Olshey, if he is the source, wouldn't be happy with that.
I hope I'm wrong, and Waiters slides, but I think the promise was from Portland, and if Olshey really does feel like he is the 2nd star in the draft, he would have no problem taking him over Drummond or whoever else.
"I got the job on a Tuesday, and by the time I landed in Chicago the next day (for the predraft camp), I had convinced an owner (to pick a prospect), a player to shut down his workouts ... I mean, I hadn't even talked to my scouts yet."
Olshey said he hasn't given Waiters a promise, or any player, for that matter

Yup. It could happen. How sad would it be if we miss out on Waiters/Rivers, and end up drafting Marshall at #13. Thats the stuff nightmares are made of. Sullinger would be bad as well. He already was a bad fit four our team, now he's a bad fit with knee/hamstring/back problems.

The way he responded to it, kind of reinforced my thought on the matter.....but again, I hope I am wrong.

The Hawks are said to be one team placing calls to improve their draft position. They currently own the No. 23 pick. One GM said the Hawks floated the names of both Josh Smith and Marvin Williams as potential trade chips.
— One issue facing the Hawks, of course, is the status of GM Rick Sund. His contract expires at the end of the month, and his future with the team is unclear, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I think #13, Frye for #23, Williams and J-Smoove would be a good deal. Not sure if Hawks agree though. It gets them out Marvin Williams contract and they get someone to space the floor for Horford.
