Myck Kabongo is appalled you would even ask such a question!

Haha I was just thinking cause their both PGs who can't shoot and not really big or athletic. But both are amazing playmakers, but Kabongo may be better in that regard too.

Kabongo has Marshalls passing, court vision, and passing abilities, with better dribble penetration, ability to finish at the rim, and better shooting.

If we were to strike out with Shabazz and Nerlens, i would hope we could scoop up Kabongo (and LeBryan Nash). :D

Still fascinated with LeBryan Nash, purely befor his namesake. Haven't actually seen too much of his game though. In my mind, he's a guy with Lebron's physicals, Nash's passing and court vision and Kobe's killer mentality.

All these teams better stop checking out Waiters. We found him first!!!

Lookin at the Porland board: the fans aren't as high on Waiters as some people think, so I hope that attitude is reflected from their FO.

He's more athletic and better defensively, that's about it. It could change next season though.

The reason I feel it is Portland with the promise, is that Chad Ford had an article at one point (when Waiters was slotted in the late teens) that said one gm said he is the 2nd star in the draft...Wade potential. At that point, Olshey was the Clips gm. It wouldn't make sense for a gm to say that IF he had a lottery pick (he's probably want to keep his opinions to himself and hope the guy dropped.)

Then, about a week later, Olshey got hired to be the Blazers gm and suddenly Waiters has a promise and shuts down workouts. Ford's reporting on the Blazers' interest in Waiters since then almost seems to me as if he is protecting a valuable source (if he has a good relationship with Olshey, he wouldn't want to blow it.) Ford has never, in his mock, had Portland taking Waiters, but I suspect he thinks they will, but Olshey, if he is the source, wouldn't be happy with that.

I hope I'm wrong, and Waiters slides, but I think the promise was from Portland, and if Olshey really does feel like he is the 2nd star in the draft, he would have no problem taking him over Drummond or whoever else.

I know all GM's deny the promise but Olshey sounds pretty convincing.

"I got the job on a Tuesday, and by the time I landed in Chicago the next day (for the predraft camp), I had convinced an owner (to pick a prospect), a player to shut down his workouts ... I mean, I hadn't even talked to my scouts yet."

Olshey said he hasn't given Waiters a promise, or any player, for that matter

After reading all the updates etc I can easily see us ending up without Rivers, Lamb, Waiters or any other of the SGs we seem to want...I'm going to say it now, I DO NOT want Sullinger with the 13th pick...

Yup. It could happen. How sad would it be if we miss out on Waiters/Rivers, and end up drafting Marshall at #13. Thats the stuff nightmares are made of. Sullinger would be bad as well. He already was a bad fit four our team, now he's a bad fit with knee/hamstring/back problems.

I agree, and still think it was the Raptors.

Marshall at #13 is scary....I'm not impressed by him, at all. Seems like a "safe" pick but, so going by our FO, we could take him.

See, to me, that sounded like the perfect deflection lie..."how could I have done this when I was...
...for all we know he had convinced Paul Allen that he was the second best talent in the draft
and we have to take him"

The way he responded to it, kind of reinforced my thought on the matter.....but again, I hope I am wrong. It's just interesting....the way things played out, and the way Ford mentions Portland as the team with the promise just seems fishy to me...he almost seems like he tries to deflect the opinions on Portland making the promise and make it seem like it is someone else...Toronto first....then Phx...and in his latest mock he had GS I think....like he wants to make sure he doesn't blow Olshey's cover, but wants to make sure he is close on him mock. I know this might seem ridiculous at this point, but I just have that gut feeling on the Blazers taking him at 6 and blowing smokescreens on Drummond and/or trades.

See, im the same way, but with Colangello in Toronto.

Teams dont usually comment on rumors. As soon as word leaked that Waiters was given a promise and it was either Portland, Toronto, or Phoenix, Colangelo was telling everybody and anybody who would listen that it wasnt them, while the other teams kept their silence, until Olshey was specifically asked about it a few days ago. Phoenix still hasnt addressed the rumor, and i doubt they ever will.

I still think that Waiters will be drafted by Toronto, and then traded to Philly for Iggy. They will then try to use Iggy to convince Nash and Ray Allen to sign, while also looking at Elton Brand if he is Amnestied.

Nash/Allen/Iggy/Brand/Bargnani
Bayless/Derozan/Kleiza/Johnson/Valanciunas

Have the Suns said ANYTHING at all through out the draft process?

Other than saying they'll draft a perimeter player or an inside player (there is no other kind of players but are FO are tools so not surprising they would say this) they haven't said a word....

I wonder if their all just sleeping through this...

The Hawks are said to be one team placing calls to improve their draft position. They currently own the No. 23 pick. One GM said the Hawks floated the names of both Josh Smith and Marvin Williams as potential trade chips.

— One issue facing the Hawks, of course, is the status of GM Rick Sund. His contract expires at the end of the month, and his future with the team is unclear, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I think #13, Frye for #23, Williams and J-Smoove would be a good deal. Not sure if Hawks agree though. It gets them out Marvin Williams contract and they get someone to space the floor for Horford.

I read that article earlier today.

As much as i like J-Smooth as a player, i just dont see why he ends up re-signing with us. We would have him for 1 season, then lose him in FA, or trade him in February before the trade deadline. Either way, we gave up the better pick and are stuck with Marvin for the next 2 years. :(

I gave up on Atlanta trades along time ago!

But bringing back Josh Smith while retaining Gortat and Nash would no doubt make us a playoff team or more in the West.

Assming Suns draft Jeffrey Taylor or Doron Lamb...then sign Jamal Crawford on a cheap deal to be 6th man (he supposedly wants to come to phx so he should be easy to get)

Nash, Telfair
Dudley, Crawford
Taylor, Williams
Smith, Morris
Gortat, Frye

^^That teams is pretty good plus Smith gets to play with a true PG and C something he's never done in his life.

And who knows maybe Marvin Williams may excell in the Suns system.

Brooks>Telfair

That Atlanta deal is ok, but I want to start over!

Return to Phoenix Suns
