He will need to tighten his ball handling skills a little, but even then he is already comfortable handling the ball and bring it up the court himself. In my opinion, it'd be a waste of his skill set to restrict him to playing solely as a pick and pop/roll guy, and I'm really excited to see him coming off of ball screens with Chriss considering his passing skills and Chriss' freaky athleticism. Just my 2 cents, though.
2 Reasons for me:
1.) We have our 'future 3' in Warren, unless they plan on developing him as a 'small ball 4', but then how many minutes does Warren get. This is personal for me, so take my opinion 'with a grain of salt', as I am very 'high' on Warren; he was coming along excellently last year (Offensively, at least) at the 3. He was shooting 40% from 3 in 23 mpg at 1.5 attempts/gm--not a lot, I know, but still good. His NBA career TS% and eFG% were 55% and 54%, which are pretty good for a 2nd year guy, his A/TO is about 1.2, which is good for a SF. His PER was 15.7 last year. His ORtg is 110...the bad part is his DRtg is also 110. OWS was 1.7; DS was only .6. So yes, this is where Bender can 'shine' over Warren.
2.) We need, IMO, two guys being developed at the 4, in case Chriss doesn't 'quite' workout, so I'd prefer his minutes come at the 4, rather than, the 3.
So, those are my 'opinionated' reasons why I don't want to see Bender at the 3.
