Any thoughts on Kenny Wooten of Oregon?.....He's mobile , long, and active and might be a good 4 next to Ayton with his energy and defense. He might be someone to take a flier on in the 2nd round?

We need a 4 who can stretch the floor a little bit. Wooten has a future in the NBA, but he doesn't do anything Richaun Holmes can't do.

I hear you, I was just proposing him as a prospect we could take a flier on for added bench depth and defense. :)

Especially as 2nd rounders are not guaranteed anyway....But I guess it all depends on what the front orifice  decides to do around draft time!

Zion Williamson would be pretty sick on this team, especially with a quality free-agent signing at Point-Guard.

You know, i was all about trading the pick for a star player, or even trading down a few spots and get a handful of future assets (Like Boston did with Fultz), but maaaaaaaaaaaaan, i watched a couple of Duke games over the weekend and the kid is a straight BEAST. That article absolutely nails it, i dont think i have ever seen another college player like him. You look at his size and weight and think there is no way this guy can can make it all work, BUT HE DOES!

He reminds me of a extremely more powerful version of Draymond Green minus the 3 point shooting. He can shoot them, just not really hit them (2-14 for the season so far).

I dont think i could pass on him at all. Seriously, i dont even think i would trade him for the #2 pick AND an All-star!

He has a strength and athleticism advantage every time he steps on the court in the NBA. Amazing body control, leap, and strength. like a shaq lebron combo athletically.

He's the only one i really want next summer.

I totally agree, I think I mentioned Draymond Green as his floor in another post a day ago too....So I'm glad that somebody else sees his amazing versatility in that mold too...He really could become the Ultimate catalyst for our team.

Giving us a truly dominant Big 3, should he along with Booker wake up Aytons' inner beast and he becomes aggressively dominant alongside Booker and Zion as well.

I don't really see Draymond Green, because his weakness is D (Green's main strength) and his strength is explosiveness (wouldn't call Green explosive). Both not great shooters though Green shot almost 39% from 3 one year. Green a good passer but moreso likely because he has so many knock down shooters playing alongside him. Zion probably a way better handler.

I made the comparison due to his similarities in making smart plays, defensive versatility, passing and intangibles. Also his defensive I.Q. and reads on defense aren't bad for him being so young.....just my opinion.....

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sportingnews.com/us/amp/nba/news/zion-williamson-scouting-report-duke-star-can-bring-more-than-big-dunks-to-nba/qeb068q6oasj1eebzpknq5tuj .

For Williamson, his athleticism is omnipresent. His overall NBA skill set — particularly the passing, ball handling and defensive prowess — is at once both heavily influenced and eclipsed by it. For the uninitiated, Williamson is merely that mound of explosion and power captured in snippets of highlight videos. In reality, he’s so much more.

His two most underrated skills are his passing and his ball handling. Back at the McDonald’s All-American Game in March, Williamson told me he thought it was his passing, so we’ll start there.

Here's a couple videos of him as a good passer too.

https://streamable.com/fyyyu .

https://streamable.com/kzmjf .

And defensive awareness, playing the passing lanes:

https://streamable.com/is1zu .

Zion Williamson defensive potential:

Blocks:

https://youtu.be/9zmIdEneAEo .

https://youtu.be/l8oiGQw3MPY .

https://youtu.be/9Nde2l9XxQo .

Yeah, He's a work in progress, But again, with his relentless motor, determination to be the best, and his unlimited potential.......I think he can also become a top defensive player in time.

Haven't watched any Daniel Gafford this season but he's ranked in the late 1st round atm. IIRC, he was in the very late-lotto to mid-1st round in 2018.

Daniel Gafford is really long, mobile and good defensively! He's been compared to Marcus Camby a lot do to his shotblocking and mobility.

But I also really like his energy and rebounding as well.

http://www.nbadraftroom.com/p/daniel-gafford.html?m=1 . He's roughly 6'11 and around 240lbs. With a 7'4 wingspan. He's a quick and effortless jumper.

Strengths
Athleticism/length - A very fluid athlete for a near 7-footer who glides up the court like a small forward and is a breath-taking leaper.

Shot blocking and interior defensive upside potential -

Gafford is just starting to figure out how good he can be and is showing rapid improvement. Ability to draw fouls and get to the line.

Rim running in transition and dives to the rim in half court sets

https://youtu.be/uSD5cG84JIo .

https://youtu.be/LSNlcAwvcJE .

I would love him next to Ayton at power forward, Should we not get Zion, or Bol, I'd Seriously consider trading back a bit for him and Ja Morant if somehow possible.

https://youtu.be/eYAzQf-6ckg .

https://youtu.be/oKEXi6ggo14 .

Also, offensively he's coming along.....If shooting form is any indication, just watch how smooth his free throw shooting is... :)

https://youtu.be/FKsbr7EcrcY .

He shot 8-11 on his field goals in that game, and is determined to improve his shooting.

He's also got a great motor too....which is a good thing next to Ayton.

He also kind of reminds me of Larry Sanders without any of the emotional or mental issues.

The question is if we fall outside the top 3 or 4 of the lottery, and can't get Zion, Bol Bol, Reddish or Barrett, would you be willing to trade back with a team like Boston (or Whoever?) In order to take both Gafford and Ja morant? :eyebrows:

Gafford is great this year. Improved his jumper, FT%, added a move or two in the post, rebounds and positions himself a ton better. Still not so good with timing passes and finding the right guy outside and also tends to do too much at times which causes unneeded turnovers.

Apparently Bol Bol has missed the last three games with a left foot problem. No timetable yet.

Return to Phoenix Suns
