"He was like, 'I'm not missing anything.'"
Monty Williams on Deandre Ayton after having right knee contusion Friday at Chicago.
Played Sunday at Dallas as his putback gave #Suns late lead.
"I'm not quite sure we have anybody else that can make that play."
He practiced today.
Monty talks here about Ayton.

Ayton has more double-double than Doncic this season.

Please don't post ridiculous Ayton stats. We all know exactly what he is.

I am curious to read Sunsbum, Bigfoot, Enigmatics, Ionea and rest of the hate gang next season when we trade DA for cap relief (like someone proposed), KD miss half the season, Book get burned to the ground and we fight for play-in. It would be so much fun.

That Lakers loss again showed that Devin Booker is one of the most overrated player in this league. When Ayton and Bridges are out he can't win crucial games as a supermax player against really bad team like Lakers. Turnovers, bad defense and disappears. Everyone score this days 30pts so that is not excuse. He is more Lavine type player when Bridges is not anymore saving his ass. Should have traded last summer Booker for Durant. Bridges can score 33pts like Booker last night and play much better defense and has much more length and stay healthy.

Cool! I realize that this response is to sunlights' double/ double post. And in a vacuum of course Doncic appears the much greater prospect in comparison to Ayton at least on the surface. But with respect to your emphasis on stats/ etc, now do it in context of usage and defined role. Also please compare scale comparison of referee supplementary support for receiving calls vs never getting the benefit of the calls. It might change the perspective a bit yes? I say this because the stats are what they are! They illustrate legitimate value/ impact. Doncic has the benefit of having the bulk (almost entirety of) the Mavs defense run through him constantly as well as a hyper inflated benefit of getting foul calls manifested out of thin air in order for the league to prosp up their narrative of Doncic being the heir apparent Golden boy to replace Le' Douche as their NBA poster boy when he retires around 48 yrs old with maybe one more ring to show for it....lol. So he gas the benefit of factors not afforded Ayton due to situation, environment, league interests. So his stats regardless of his skillset are disingenuously inflated.
Ayton neither has a featured role as the main offensive cog in our offense, doesn't share the same or even remotely similar usage, and also doesn't even get a fraction of the fluff calls that Doncic gets to inflate his production. You take away that high usage and the absurd benefit of calls he gets from the refs, and he's a really good But not great 17-20 point per game guy. Very versatile for sure, but not MVP level honestly. This is only further validated by his teams record per annum. And his repeated inability to get his team to the finals in a lead role. In a simple comparison, in terms of overall success, we've enjoyed much more success as a team since drafting Ayton than the Mavs have with Doncic obviously.
Yes! We can all agree how soft, finesse and inconsistent Ayton is, and in that context you'd take Doncic 10 times out of 10 most likely. But that still doesn't render those stated facts that he's repeatedly shown to be elite ( even historically) despite his motor issues and mental/ behavioral disposition. Had we not traded for Paul and rapidly expedited our pursuit of a championship ( truncated timeline), it's entirely reasonable that he'd have been given more patience towards his development, possibly featured more and in a more prominent role, possibly developed on a different arch than he currently has.
When he's gone and we don't have his aame efficiency/ gravity to bail.out our offense during instances of struggling ( especially in games that KD WILL MISS), we'll reflect on how we might have underappreciated him in his supplementary role even though admittedly overpaid for his current skillset. But the facts remain valid regardless of subjective opinions.

Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
Someone (grumpy) mentioned suns tend to lose when Ayton scores big... failing to mention suns has won more games when he scored close to 20 or over 20 points. Also very quiet when it comes to Booker scoring huge 35 and over and suns also lose and have a bad record.
Ayton is hated for the wrong reasons or unfair reasons because he doesn't have the personality of a Giannis or a Shaq.
Same haters who call out flopping but criticises Ayton for not flopping. The bias is ridiculous.

Doncic is a ball hog, cryer, and needs high usage.
Dude posted stats about this season. Quit trying to post the past.

Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
We should have let the Pacers sign Ayton. Hopefully the rumors that Mavs covet him are true and we steal some assets from an owner desperate to keep Doncic happy. Maybe we can get back some 1st round picks. Let the Mavs deal with his soft ass.

we couldnt afford to let him go for free.
we had our chance to deal him for sabonis but apparently larry bird couldnt do it.
now its nearly impossible to get good value for him
in other words, we may be stuck with him for a long time
unless we take a bad deal just to forget this disaster actually happened.
