At least he went east. Boston and bucks will be the odds on favorites to win the title, but at least they will beat each other up.
Boston gets rid of two tremendously injured players who wouldn’t be playing for them at all during the playoffs for a guy who is leagues better than Marcus smart who they gave up to get Porzingis. They might be the most talented team with the best starting lineup now.
White
Holiday
Brown
Tatum
Porzingis
With horford off the bench. Or start horford and bring white off the bench. They can truly go big or small.
Honestly we will have a super tough time matching up against that squad. I almost think they are better than the Bucks. Two incredibly good perimeter defenders to guard Booker and Beal (and Dame in the East) with Porzingis, horford, and Tatum to throw at Durant and Giannis. I’ve convinced myself they are the team to beat right now.
lol if you though Simmons was annoying about the suns trade, I’d stay away from his next podcast in which he will c*m all over his mic for 20 straight minutes.

So the Blazers have now scary front duo Timelord/Dominayton. Best in the West. Let see how it develop Ayton's game when there is other teammate who battle rebounds too. Not small guys like CamJohnson etc.

Jrue to Boston is probably enough to make them #1 favorites. Small favorites but still clear. Aside from being an obvious talent upgrade, lord knows what the future holds for the injury situations of Rob Williams and Brogdon. Sometimes it just seems (emphasize seems) the Celtics love to sacrifice the long term health of guys/do shady medical things. But their roster certainly is a lot thinner despite being more talented than last season.
Would like to see if we could add Brogdon somehow especially if it means not trading Grayson (whom I really like for this team) for McConnell. Could see every single contender interested in him. He is arguably one of the best "steady hand" players in the league to have off the bench.
But I will still not count out Jordan Goodwin like a lot people here are starting to move away from him. Need people to remember that Eric Gordon is 35 years old - I'd love it if he's an Al Horford/Brook Lopez big impact vet for us but when you're not a star there's always a chance you just disappear into thin air year-to-year as you age.

It was a bad trade. That's the best way to put it
Well, it sure is a stretch to call it a good trade
MadMatty filling out this roster is like dressing in the dark… namebrand clothes, but sheesh… Are you sure they go together?
What ? Me Worry ?

Suns are going to be interesting but there are a ton of damn good teams in the west and a top heavy east I would in no way make them the favorites just making the playoffs in the West is going to be a fight there are no nights off and a significant injury likely ends your playoff chances

Yeah funny a lot of people here wanted someone like Williams to replace DA and now they are together in the same frontcourt.
Suns in the middle of creating two big contenders in the East and a fun team to watch in the West. Great job.

Mat and Jones still have some time left to make the remaining team bookies had in front of the Suns, the Nuggets, even stronger.

Like most of the haters, he's dumb and will be proven wrong on this.
Nurk sucks, can't stay healthy and is old. He's at best the 25th best center in the league. Ayton is still top 10.
You can tell who never has watched Nurk play, Fo Real being an example. It's okay, they will all understand soon enough.
Bill Simmons ranks Nurkic as his #29th ranked center.
Simmons is entertaining, but he is so contradictory about this trade.
Says that the suns are in contention for a title this year immediately, but confused why we didn’t wait around to see how Ayton fit with Vogel. If he can’t see why those two things don’t work together, then he’s just stirring the pot.
Who were his top two centers? Robert Williams and Al Horford with Jokic a clear tier behind them? Is he actually more comfortable with the Celtics chances to win the East now because Dame isn’t that good and was just an empty stats guy on a losing team? How does this affect the patriots chances at a Super Bowl? Pretty sure it increases that as well.
Ya Simmons is just a talking head for Boston and the east coast,.
Nurk doesn't suck but he is also is an average to slightly below average starting center. The only question is will he do what Suns need him to do, the west is going to be a blood bath to just get into the playoffs most competitive it's been in my lifetime and I'm not a kid.
Should be a really fun season

Boston just became the favorites out East and in the west I don't think the Suns are heavily favored to beat any of the top 4 teams in the west.
We are just hoping that a team filled with injury prone players avoid injuries and that small ball is going to overcome our lack of size and defense. I'm increasingly pessimistic about this team heading into the season.

Another thing in my mind is that when Blazzers trade Jrue Holiday to a team, there will be another contender against us. Maybe Celtics get him.
I had that fear. I told ya. This is bad for us. It was'nt necessary to be involed in that trade. Celtics are too good to loose the East path to the finals.
I am mad with another reason. Portland trade Jrue for Brogdon and multiple picks, but i am 100% sure that they wouldn't trade Jrue for Cameron Johnson and fillers to us.
PLUS the fact that we donate Payne to Bucks for FREE.

Don't Sleep on the Blazers
I expect that their fans are very happy today.

James Jones is great at building contenders for other teams.
Celtics or Bucks winning it all barring injury.

Portland did very well with their return for Dame. Their fans have to be very pleased. They have a much better team now and going forward without Dame. That’s pretty crazy. Eventually, they will need some solid vets now.

They are trading Malcom Brogdon to another team.

Do you know that Robert Williams have been traded to the Blazers too?
That trade is another meh trade IMO. The Celtics aren't better now, they have changed the 6th MOTY and one of the best defensive Cs in the league (and picks) for Holiday.
I love Holiday but that's not an slam dunk trade at all.
About the same can be said for the Bucks. They lost Holiday AND Grayson (and picks) for Lillard.

I'm sorry...I just don't see a 33YO Jrue Holiday worth all those assets. I may have jumped the gun when I say Portland got fleeced, because in no way did I see Portland getting that haul for Jrue...The Celtics got fleeced in that deal. Simmons wants to try to paint Allen as a guy who falls short in the playoffs, well, he needs to look at Jrue over the past 3 seasons in the playoffs, before he starts shoot'n-off at the mouth about how great Jrue is gonna be...sub .400 fg%?? In fact, all of his %s fell way off in the playoffs. Sorry, I'm not a big fan of losing two quality depth pieces, and 2 1st Rd picks for Jrue...remind me again what we traded for Paul--a clearly better PG, even if age 35 at the time...
