I thought of this. He may be thinking about going to the Knicks next summer too when Amare comes off the books to play with Melo.

I really doubt he's taking one year. The risk of injury and losing out on a huge contract is way, way too great to sign one year. It's partly the reason why players coming off rookie contracts rarely (if ever) pick up their qualifying offer when they're due a contract even if they don't want to play for their team.

I believe Lebron genuinely wants the the Heat to improve, so he's trying to force their hand. Signing with another team is clearly a last resort, but he's not going to sign onto a team that he feels won't be contending.

Yes, but I just looked at his #s. Not bad if we lose Frye (which I'm sure you are all for) and still would like to have a stretch four on the roster. Per 36 #s...13, 8, and 36% from 3, 38% the year before. Not a bad backup if Kieff starts. Probably cheap too.

Patterson is in my opinion the ultimate "below-average player" in the NBA.
I will only touch him for the minimun, and even then I would prefer give his minutes to a young player.
IF Frye does not resign, we always can play with Markieff like starter and Marcus coming of the bench, no need to sign Patterson or Ed Davis, for example.

It would be nice if the twins worked on their 3 pt shooting in the offseason. Kieff has gotten much worse every season. Mook is actually much better now and even shot better than Frye this year.

Yes, he opted out of his contract, which was allowed as a 2nd round pick, and they were going to give him a bigger deal, and Utah swept in and gave him an even BIGGER deal. I remember Simmons writing about it. At the time Cleveland had a blind owner and he wrote "Boozer stabbed a blind guy in the back!"

Kind of like Washington did with Arenas taking him from GS.

Not to get too off topic but what happened with Arenas? I never heard about that (never followed his career).

Thought this was interesting (Plus I just wanted to apply my newly acquired tweet posting skills 8-) ). Boy did Jared Dudley value drop like a bag of hot rocks! Nash basically helped us get Goodwin and Bledsoe, plus another number one pick.

Thank you Steve.

Gasol considering going back to LA if Melo signs. http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la ... story.html
Not good for our pick next year. But I can't see Melo signing with Gasol and Kobe long-term.

Dragic?

[tweet]https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/484695547266072576[/tweet]

Has to be centered around George, Hibbert or Stephenson. I'd only want PG out of those guys though. The "yet" part scares me.

Maybe get Minny involved in 3-way?

This is the second half of Stein's tweet.

Yet
Something to keep an eye on, though, with Indy known to covet an upgrade at PG and stubborn perception Suns can't afford Bledsoe AND Dragic

Is it possible that Indiana is trying to make room to re-sign Stephenson? By trading George or Hibbert for Dragic, Indiana is able to clear up some space so they can afford Stephenson. I know it's unlikely they would trade George, but maybe for some odd reason they value Stephenson more. Of course there were those rumors about George and Hibbert's fiancee, so there may be some chemistry issues.

Let's hope that either:

A) This is all just BS/McD doing his due diligence to explore everything

or

B) That if they really are intent on trading Dragic, it's because Lebron's people said that if we get Paul George/Roy Hibbert and keep Bledsoe, he'll come here

or

C) There's a third team (Minnesota) involved.

I don't see McD moving Dragic just to clear cap room on the off-chance we MIGHT get a superstar, so if he's doing this, it's either because we have a shot at some awesome player, or we have a shot at LBJ

Indy have absolutely nothing to offer. George is untouchable, Hill and Hibbert have a negative trade value and Lance is a free agent and the Suns have the cap space to sign him if they want to.

If there's someone interested in trading for Roy then maybe a 3-team trade could be possible, but I'm sure the Suns won't move Goran for something "average".

This is so **** annoying. People still don't understand that the Suns play Dragic and Bledsoe in the backcourt together because they want, not because they have to. They complement each other perfectly on the court.

This x 1000

You guys can't be serious with this pathetic rumor. Why would we trade Dragic now?!! Trading him during the season or just paying two expensive guards is better than anything Indy has to offer.

Indy is not trading George for Goran, Noway. The rest of Indy's roster is garbage, including that over hype Stephenson!!

Edit: tl;dr What everyone else says.

I know everyone here loves Gogi, including myself. But I think that if we have to choose between him and Bledsoe, it's Bledsoe. The reason is defense. An elite defensive PG, I think, is more valuable to a championship contender. Dragic is the better shooter and better scorer going to the rim. I think Goodwin can duplicate the latter aspect of Gogi's game, though not the former. We'd really miss Gogi, but come playoffs, I think we'd Bledsoe more.

Key thing for me is, if we're giving up Dragic, I want a marquee PF coming our way. There is but one realistic target, and that's Kevin Love. How close, in terms of value, is Dragic + Morrises for Love? All four become free agents after one year, though the Morrises are restricted. If we're talking Dragic, we ought to be coordinating with Minnesota to see if we can net something they want in a trade.

As others have mentioned, the Pacers have nothing that should reasonably interest us other than Paul George. Stephenson we could sign outright (but I'd rather not have a domestic-abusing statwhore on the squad, okay? call it a personal thing). You know the Pacers are offering George Hill and...??? I bet they'd offer Hibbert: pass! I just don't know.

I imagine the interest is not mutual.

The Suns have stated an intent to re-sign all three of their free agents who started for them last season — Eric Bledsoe, Channing Frye and P.J. Tucker.
The Suns have expressed that they drafted T.J. Warren and Tyler Ennis in the first round to keep them.

If all of that holds true, the Suns' free-agency moves are going to be greatly predicated on the outcomes of the ongoing negotiations with their own free agents.

With Bledsoe, Tucker and Frye on board, the Suns would be two to three players deep at every position and have their top eight players from last season back without accounting for expected improvement from lightly used 2013 first-round picks Archie Goodwin and Alex Len.

Frye's status is the one most out of their control because he is the only unrestricted free agent among the trio. He apparently has lost some leverage because the destination that made the most sense, Golden State, directed its attention to coming to terms with point guard Shaun Livingston on Wednesday.
Frye still could draw interest from Cleveland and Portland but some of the Suns' free-agency contacts (unrestricted free agents Pau Gasol, Ed Davis and Josh McRoberts or restricted free-agent Patrick Patterson) could fill the void in different ways and/or come at a lesser price. Gasol has been connected more to Chicago, Dallas, Golden State, New York, Oklahoma City and the Los Angeles Lakers. McRoberts, Davis and Patterson are on a lower tier but McRoberts seemingly has interest from half of the league.

Bledsoe and Tucker are more in the Suns' control as restricted free agents. It gives the Suns avenues to sign deals with them or match any offer sheet they might sign with another team, which can begin happening in one week.
Point guard Kyle Lowry's four-year, $48 million agreement to stay with Toronto, as reported by Yahoo, will give teams a barometer for Bledsoe's value.

The Suns' contact with former Sacramento point guard Isaiah Thomas appears to be protecting themselves on the Bledsoe front, perhaps from another team's max offer or an offer sheet poisoned with backloading or frontloading. Thomas has interest from Detroit, which agreed to terms with Jodie Meeks on Wednesday, as well as Boston, Dallas, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Suns also have three other point guards under contract control with Goran Dragic, Ennis (once he officially signs) and Ish Smith (whose 2014-15 salary becomes guaranteed in 11 days).

With Tucker, the Suns also just drafted another player at his position in Warren and have Marcus Morris coming back as well as Gerald Green, who split time between the two wing spots last season. Free-agency alternatives to Tucker would start with Luol Deng, Chandler Parsons, Trevor Ariza or shooting guard Gordon Hayward at higher prices or Danny Granger or forward Marvin Williams at a lesser price.

Parsons and Hayward are restricted free agents with Parsons expected to stay in Houston despite interest from at least six teams, and Hayward on the verge of a large Cleveland offer, which Utah would be expected to match. Deng and Ariza have a wide range of interested teams, including Dallas, Miami and the Los Angeles Lakers interested in each player and Washington wanting Ariza back. There is lighter competition for now with Granger, who the Los Angeles Clippers want back, and Williams, who will draw interest from Miami and others.

In the background, this is really the first week that the Suns would be a player in a Kevin Love trade or any other trade for a high-salary player. They did not have the cap space to absorb Love's contract until Tuesday. The focus of any Love trade remains on Golden State, although it is viable that Flip Saunders, now the Timberwolves coach, would hold onto his best player to see how the season plays out and still have the ability to deal Love at the February trade deadline, if desired.
