Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
All this Ayton's criticism isn't helping him or the Suns.
Ayton didn't play well in the last game and he is the first one to understand it, but it's not good for the franchise and for his mental health to put huge pressure on the guy because some people don't work well in those situations. Millionaires or not they are humans yet.
I think that Monty Williams, Book, CP3 and most of the Suns staff know how to deal with Ayton and how to get the best or close to the best out of him but some fans and journalists don't understand how to treat him and they don't help him with his constant tough comments.
Ayton is a nice guy and he doesn't t deserves any type of hate and some commentaries are just hate or envy.
We need to remember that he is playing against a **** 2-time MVP in his prime and obviously he is having a hard time going against him.
As a fans we need to motivate players and not try to put them down, it's not cool and doesn't help anyone involved.
I am gonna cheer for Ayton and try to give him confidence to fight against Jokic. We know that he can play better, he has it in him. Go Suns!

Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
Go back to the beginning of this thread and read the comments. It's all the same complaints we still have. And the same ones we had even in his rookie year. And it's all the red flags he was showing predraft. He's not changing. It's been 5 years. Time to move on. He got more than he deserved with that contract.

Landale is outplaying him and makes less than $2m a year. Coddle Ayton all you want but he is a bum. Didn't deserve that contract and his entitled ass wanted more. All he wants to do is play video games and be a child. I have been done with this dude for a long time. God I wish NBA contracts weren't guaranteed. Dude needs to be cut yesterday.

Cue my past comments: Greg Monroe 2.0. Good player but will never be more than that.

He's the C version of Tim Thomas. There enough there to trick you into thinking he could be special but dudes just never going to really get 'it'.SunsRback4Good wrote:kennydorglas wrote:RaisingArizona wrote:Cue my past comments: Greg Monroe 2.0. Good player but will never be more than that.

Im still convinced Thomas would have been a hall of famer had he given a ****. We saw a glimpse of it that playoff run here when he was a buy out guy. He also was born about 15 years too early because he would have been a prototype stretch big in todays game. Ironically Ayton was probably born about 30 years too late.

Makes sense. Thomas & Ayton both had game winning baskets in the playoffs.

Cousins was just as frustrating to watch.
Another player when their stats were misleading bc they lacked so much drive for the game.
Both drama queens as well.

This always bugged my mind, bc Ayton shot 3's in Arizona.
Then he goes to the NBA and never worked in that game.
I guess this could've made a totally different player.
Maybe he'll pickup this game late in his career like BroLo.

Yeah Cousins and Ayton have very different games.darealjuice wrote:kennydorglas wrote:darealjuice wrote:

Both could be called immature but very different types of immature. Cousins couldn't control his emotions, is a prick, and probably has some real deep seeded issues. DA seems like an affable dude but I just don't think he gets it from a professional NBA player work ethic or attention to detail standpoint.
My armchair diagnosis is hes just the classic plays basketball because he's 7 foot and not because he loves it guy. There have been plenty of those dudes in the NBA over the years.

Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
Predraft DA sure talked big:
When asked by the media what separates him from the other prospects up top like Luka Doncic, Marvin Bagley III, Mohamed Bamba, Ayton immediately pointed to his competitiveness. Ayton alluded to modeling his craft after not current names dominating the modern NBA, but Hall of Famers in Kevin Garnett and Hakeem Olajuwon for their intensity and footwork, respectively.
“I’m the best competitor in this draft,” Ayton said. “I won’t say I’m the best player, I won’t say that, but I would say on the competitive level I am the best competitor. I don’t think there’s anyone like me.”

Re: Deandre Ayton news and discussion
Chambers has a line about 'not knowing what hard work is'. Wish I remember who said it but predraft I remember some scout saying their concern was that Ayton thinks he works hard but he doesn't really understand what that means for an NBA player. That line stuck with me.
Also Chambers sounds about as done with DA as most of this board.
