Haha... they will be able to snag him next yr if they want as we will be mighty tight with the purse strings. I think the Spurs apprehension was/is with Phnx trying to sluff off Dario in the deal.

Looks like the best move this year is no move. This has been very beneficial for Smith, snagging injury and COVID minutes. May be it translates into some regular full strength roster appearances. Should not have to remind anyone we were playing the Shank and are currently force feeding us the Sham. Dare I say Smith might end up being an upgrade over both? Our roster is versatile enough to shift the minutes around.

Shame-ette has been a disaster. I'd love to see Stix take his minutes till he can hit his shots. Or, even better Stix just becomes our new PF

I still can't believe we gave shamet a deal before the season even started. Jones is gonna be feeling real bad when Jalen walks because we can't afford the 4 million dollar price tag thanks to shams bull contract. He's absolutely terrible.

Sham-wow + Saric for Marvin Bagel III, who says no?

Him and Ayton were teammates in high school. Monty and CP3 get Bagley to buy into contending for a championship. He's a 6'10 decent defender to throw against team's benches, has been playing decent ball for a couple of weeks. He's unhappy in Sac, is not getting their qualified offer (which we don't have to offer, either? So he's essentially an expiring). He's less raw than Stix (who we're losing anyways).

Bagley's a straight no from me, dawg. Character issues - dad whining about role on the team, refusing to come into a game. Even if he plays well here, he's surely looking out for #1 right now, and if we won't pay Stix $5 million, why would we pay Bagley what would surely be more than that? I prefer Stix as a prospect at this point, anyways.

Not really a topic worth discussing since there's no way Monty would let that guy into his locker room.

Yeah, I hear all that. But I think it's fundamentally still a low risk, medium to high reward. Saric is basically done for us / cannot play vs Anthony Davis/Jokic/Giannis. Shamet is a net negative and a drain on our cap going forward.

Okay, Dad goes Lavar on us, can't we just waive him? Hell, we could even entice Bagley by saying, come play for us, if you're not happy, we'll waive you by the April 6th (or w/e) deadline so you can play for whatever team you want, including in the playoffs.

So Bagley looking out for #1 might play into, hey, play a part on a winning team and write your own narrative, not just be the sullen, slight bust the Kings messed up on. There's lots of teams looking to upgrade their front court and pay out based on potential. Look at Jeremi Grant.

And if anything, there's probably only 2-3 coaches I'd trust in turning head cases into winning players, pieces. Popovich, Spoelstra, and Monty.

I know that this is likely only a Covid response thing! But Shamet and Payne have some competition because MJ Walker is strong, a really aggressive defender, can create his own offense, and shot close to 44% from three in college. But honestly I think they're checking out Walker because he's a relentless high energy player. And lately our energy has been disappointing at best. Emanuel Terry is a relentless high energy defender/ rebounder too. So to me personally, it looks like they're at least somewhat trying to address some issues.

Well Jalen Smith is now our only big on the roster! Not sure how he'll play against Celtics Al Horford, Robert Williams, Enes Kanter??
Also not confident in trying to play 6'6 ish Wainwright at center either! Especially when he's trying to come back from lower back issues. :banghead:

I'd look at these centers that are unsigned for added size/ rim protection:

1- Luke Kornet.
He's 7'1 250 lbs. With a 7'1 wingspan. He can block shots and hit the three.

2- Balsa Koprivica ( * IF AVAILABLE)?
He's 7'2 260 lbs. 7'3 wingspan, Very mobile, active, loves physicality, plays aggressively too.

3- Christ Khoumadje ( currently in Berlin)
He's 7'3 270 lbs. Fantastic defender/ shotblocker. Has an unmeasured wingspan said to in excess of 7'6+ feet or more.

4- Vincent Poirer.
7'0 235 lbs. Solid rebounder, decent defender/ shotblocker, decent passer.

5- Romaro Gill.
He's 7'2 255 lbs. Is a good defender and rebounder. Has a long wingspan believed over 7'6. And is a prolific shotblocker! Averaged close to 3.8 per game for Seton Hall.

I still say it's too bad Aaron Baynes is sitting the season out towards a full recovery and return in 2023. But we definitely need to add more legitimate size, as we can't expect to depend on Jalen alone for this!

One day we will regret letting him go. We treat him like a scrub when in reality he hasn't been given proper chance to show what he can actually do.

Ok he's raw, but when given chance he plays like his life depends on it. He's already one of the top rebounders in the league (based on my eye test). If his 3 was falling all of us would be wet right now.

This signing makes little sense considering the guy is only 6'8. And Jalen Smith is our only higbleft not in Covid protocols. We need size! Not more wing forwards. Boston should have a field day with us in the paint! :nonono:

6'8 is still not a center against the nbas' 611' -7 footers. Maybe as a backup 4 perhaps. But this is a little bit more encouraging I suppose.

The NBA should host fan tryouts at this point. And I’m being serious too, I think some fans can definitely play as well if not better than some of these guys being signed.

These guys get paid $110k for 10 days of work.

**** I’m sure there’s fans that are willing to do a 10 day contract for half that money or even less.

It wouldn’t hurt to try and would add more fam engagement to the game too. Of course fans that try out would have to be fully vaccinated and boosted and all that.

What the heck is the suns aversion to actually adding a center with legitimate size?

Are we just going to try to play small ball through this whole Covid situation with nothing but 6'7 - 6'8 forwards and a 6'5 shooting guard?
Dave King (@DaveKingNBA) Tweeted:
Paris Bass and Justin Jackson signed today, adding to the two players earlier this week.

My guess: Suns expect more COVID among players than already reported (Ayton, Nader, Crowder, McGee)
