Re: Official Trade Thread: Kind of a Drag...ic
Lol Heat fans in their forum are now talking about eventually acquiring Archie Goodwin from the Suns.
Sad part is that if we piss him off also by playing the likes of Gerald Green and Marcus Thornton over him, he'll want out as well.
Wade would be a hell of a mentor for Goodwin though, they have similar styles of athleticism, and frame. Goodwin is also a guy that relies on getting to the rim and drawing fouls much like DWade.

Their souvenirs. I still have an Amare jersey. If I bought another one it would probably be a vintage KJ jersey.
I know what you mean but the trade is so raw and iv only been getting it around for 4 months. Do guys get all the players jerseys on sale over there
I have before. Once I got a crapload of jerseys from an outlet mall where they were all $10-$15. I bought other team jerseys too, like a Ray Allen Sonics jersey and a bunch of others.

He can be as pissed as he wants, but since he'll be a restricted free agent once his rookie deal runs out, it doesn't really matter.

Grant's one of those guys that says it how it is and isn't full of s**t so his response to McD's comments are worrisome.
I feel like McD doesn't have that PR experience that a lot of the veteran GM's have. Look, McD's comments are what a GM should be saying to make fans feel like we won the trade but the way he does it is just very below the belt. Dude needs to let Babby talk, he seems to understand how fans react to statements better.
I didn't see anything else, but did Grant Hill explain "Wow!!" Or are some mental morons interpreting the meaning?
It was a bit harsh of a comment by McD, but Goran wasn't our best player this season. I know many will say it was Jeff's fault Goran played poorly, or the FO made Goran miss shots, stand in the corner, get his panties bunch up so tight that he forgot how to play basketball. Goran had a few good games this season, went out like a bitch. I can see how McD thinks he didn't lose the best player.
Unless it was a direct reference to to the Knight trade then I don't see how we got the best player in the trades coming or going. Dragic isn't an elite player like a Durant or a Lebron or Davis where even if they are played out of position, they can still put up monster stats. But Dragic still belongs in the conversation as a top 10 PG. Dude was an all-NBA player last season and unless someone thinks relegating him to being a "corner specialist" and reducing PG role doesn't have anything to do with his poorer play this, then I dunno what else to say. Would John Wall still be putting up his 10APG if PG duties was passed onto Beal? Hell no, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have that ability in him.

They can dream all they want. Archie is untouchable moving forward.

Yeah, I'm not understanding the hate for Thornton--he's a better "Gerald Green", from what I can see. So that's not necessarily a bad thing.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/pla ... 4=&p5=&p6=
Very similar per36 stats, except Green has a better 2Pt%, while Thornton, a better 3Pt%--in fact, sadly, his 3Pt% is higher than his 2Pt%. If he plays 10-15 minutes a night, I don't see that being a bad thing.
I'd rather have a Knight/Thornton duo than a Dragic/IT duo--at least THIS season's Dragic/IT duo. And Oh, BTW, for about $3M less, and Thornton's a UFA, where IT had 3 more years, and Knight's likely to sign for $5-7M less than Dragic this off-season.
So, yeah, going on a bit of a tangent, but yeah, Thornton for 10-15 minutes a game is better than IT for 25 minutes a game.
I think its two things. He is really ugly, and he is unnecessary. First is a joke, sort of, and the second is a real gripe. How is Thornton going to get minutes with Archie, Gerald, and Bullock already on the roster.
You can never have too many 3 point shooters, particularly in our system. I agree he probably shouldn't take those other guys' minutes unless he's having a hot hand type of night, but he's easily a nice guy to have on the team.

If you listened to the interview with Brandon Knight last night with Tom and Tom, two things stand out:
1. He did not seem too excited to be here, and even said he was surprised with the trade.
and even bigger...
2. When asked about playing off the ball, he said he was open to it, but "still hoped to play his way too."
Read between the lines. He's PISSED that he won't be playing the point and he's PISSED he was traded off a playoff team.
Hopefully he doesn't say he wants out in the summer. That wouldn't be too good.
I listened to the same interview and read none of that between the lines.
Also, he can complain all he wants, but he'll be a sun next year barring a magnificent sign and trade offer. We didn't trade tht much for him to let him go, and as an RFA it isn't up to him whether he stays on the team.

Seriously.
Not even close. Had nowhere near the distribution skills of Nash.
The Dragic fan boys are epic the past few days. Steve Nash during his Suns era was arguably the most efficient player in the history of the NBA. That's not an exaggeration. He also, for his entire career, is arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history. Combine that with his absurd passing and court vision during his time in Phoenix and you have an offensive juggernaut that you see once in a lifetime. What was it? 80% of the players Nash played with averaged their career highs? Get out of here with this Dragic crap. He's not even necessarily better than Bledsoe and Knight (he's worse statistically).
Dragic had an awesome season last year. He shot the ball well, but even then wasn't better than Nash's typical year, particularly from the FT line. He has NEVER, and I mean NEVER, had Nash's type of vision.
Goran was a top 10 player in basketball last year imo. This year he was the 3rd best player on the Suns, maybe 4th. You can blame the situation for all of that if you want, but his shooting dropped back down to his career levels. It is every bit as likely that his career year last year was the outlier and that what he is now (a very good player who is a borderline all-star in the west and a definite all-star in the east) is what he is going forward. Dragic is a guy I would've liked to have kept and I don't like how things ended with him, but if you told me before this season that I could pick between Dragic and Knight for this team going forward, I pick Knight. The age difference is why. You want guys who will hit their prime when the rest of our core does--not guys who will be nearing retirement at that time. It's the same reasoning many here rightfully used during the whole Len v. Noah trade discussion.

Our front office BUNGLED this one.... and its going to have lasting repercussions. Tough couple of days in the war room.
Just when we were cleaning off from the last turdstorm, we get dunked right back into the loo. Name another organization that has had as much turmoil in the past 10 yrs. 6 GMs and 5 coaches. Players (and GD good ones) exiting under dubious terms/feelings. Owner making an ass of himself... goddammit, it was just looking like they had finally put all that behind them with a fresh start.
Back to square one with player/fan relations. Nice going. When you make such a big stink, people believe you smell. Now we have a stench on us.
You obviously don't pay attention to the rest of the NBA. Are we the the only team in the league that has issues? There are plenty of players on winning organizations that are a locker room cancer though you just don't hear about it.
Dragic **** the SUNS and they will never forget what happened. Dragic doesn't realize that you shouldn't burn bridges with ANY organization no matter how bad the situation might be. He will regret this decision and I will just link back to this post

Not sure if happy about this or not. This strengthens the Morri clan within the locker room, and not sure that is a good thing.

As far as the Suns go,we have no idea how well this works out for us yet.
No Bosh equals a first round exit as the eight seed. Not even close.

I'm glad that someone is giving this trade a chance. If we part ways with Knight we do a S&T and get players/picks back. Not that hard to understand.
