Suns trade:
Knight/Tucker/#28
Suns get:
Thad/RHJ
Raps trade:
Patterson
Raps get:
Tucker
Nets trade:
Thad/RHJ
Nets get:
Patterson/Knight/#28
Possibly resign Tele to 3/$33. We really need a big man who can stretch the floor.
Plan on bringing Bogdan over
That leaves us with:
Len/Chandler
Thad/Tele
Warren/Bogdan
Booker/RHJ
Bledsoe/Goodwin
With out picks we go BPA, or trade:
#4 for Okafor?
Dunn or Bender? Both can sit and develop for a year
Valentine or Sabonis? Again both can sit and develop for a year
Yeah, we arent going anywhere fast. But there is a ton of potential across the roster. And like many have already stated, their is absolutely no FA available that will make us significantly better. Best option right now is to develop youth for a few years.
Len: 23
Warren: 23
Booker: 20
RHJ: 21
Goodwin: 22
Bogdan: 24
2x rookie at 20-22
With potential 8 players 24 or younger.
Yeah, this trade might be unrealistic or terrible. But my stance stands here:
a.) Our team is really young, and unproven. The value that this roster has COULD be great, but at the moment it's full of question marks. We'd have to give up the farm for a star because nobody knows what they are getting.
b.) Making a huge trade could blow up in our faces. In two years, we could look back and see ourselves as getting fleeced in a deal.
c.) Would there be enough experience left on this roster to actually make a big push?
d.) Even with a major move or two, would we really compete with the GS/OKC/CLE/SA teams?
Hell, OKC and GS all were patient. Our "think-we-can" major moves havent really panned out in the past, and have ultimately set us back in our rebuild.

You want the Suns to give the 76ers two lottery picks and a 24 year old guard who averages 20 pts, 5 ast, and 4 rbs signed for the next four years at a good price in exchange for a rookie center when the Suns already have two centers on the roster. Are you for real? That is the type of package people on here are talking about giving up for Jimmy Butler. Not a rookie center who already had off the court issues. The Suns have had enough of that with Tucker and the Morris brothers. If you want the number 4 pick so much then you can trade the Suns Okafor AND the return of the Lakers pick and we can call it a deal.
Well, Bulls would not trade Butler for that package and BTW some of the Suns fans agreed on that trade so I guess its not that crazy.
Some Suns fans also said they would trade Booker, Len, and Warren plus all of the Suns draft picks for Butler too. You think that is a good idea also. Give me a break. Ryan McDonough does not get fleeced on trades like that. The 76ers are the ones that want to get rid of Okafor for whatever reason. Don't you see that. They are not the ones holding the pick here. The Suns are. You want the number four pick? Gotta pay a HUGE PRICE for it. If not, too bad. You will not get it then.
Seriously. People in this thread are either bored or taking crazy pills. Why would McD give Philly the #4 for Oklafor when we can put together a nice rebuild package for the Bulls?
Butler >>>>> Okafor

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Suns get:
Jimmy Butler
Bulls get:
No 4 & 9 pick
Bruno Caboclo
Corey Joseph
Raptors get:
Brandon Knight
No 28 pick
McD gets the star he's been searching for. Bulls get a very solid haul for Jimmy Butler, they can draft one of the guards at No 4 and one of the bigs at 9. After losing in the Eastern Conference Finals the Raptors are looking for some firepower off the bench, so they get a 20/5/4 player in Knight while only giving up their two years away from being two years away player in Bruno as well as role player Corey Joseph. They also get the No 28 pick in which they can draft some international PF/C.
Best of all, Suns still have TJ Warren to come off the bench and provide that spark, and retain the No 13 pick and draft Deyonta Davis.
Suns lineup:
Bledsoe/Booker/Butler/Mirza/Chandler
Archie/Bogdan/Warren/Davis/Len + fatdrunkguy & Alan Williams (bench morale booster)
And just for shish and gigs here's the Raptors (if they keep DD)
Lowry/DeRozan/Carroll/?Scola?/Jonas
Wright/Knight/Ross/Patterson/Biyombo
Jimmy Butler

I'd be prepared to go all in on the premise that we target 2 All-Stars, 1 doesn't do enough for me.

^If we did my above scenario maybe Jimmy can get Pau Gasol to do a two year contract (one plus one player option) with us. He could help Len develop a better post game too.

Yeah. Me too.
If Suns can get 2 other stars next to Bledsoe... I am willing to give up Booker and the picks and other assetts.
Stars attract veteran players... So cheap veterans will come... If you build.. They will come.

Ideally Paul George and Butler OR Cousins.
Maybe 3 way... Butler goes to Kings... Pick 4 and 13 to Bulls... Cousins to Suns.... Booker and Warren to Pacers.

Devin Booker is not getting traded for a Butler, Cousins or George type of player. We can all stop with including him in trades.

Actually, I can see the Suns trading Booker for a superstar. Sarver is an idiot and he's, ultimately and unfortunately, calling the shots.
The moon is a ufo.

Why do the Raptors give up their #9 for Knight? Did I miss something?

Gasol is not a difference maker. We need to develop Len.

Re: The Trade Thread: All Eyes Toward The Offseason
AGAIN.... can someone explain to me why we'd deal for Butler ? It seems to me, his natural position is SG... and unless we are planning on Booker at PG or moving him, then they overlap. Neither, IMO, has the size/length to be a permanent SF. This hybrid small ball GState model could be put to rest with an OKC win. Haven't we learned anything by forcing players to play out of position?
What ? Me Worry ?

there's not a gigantic difference between SG and SF in my mind; a wing is a wing. He's gonna be checking the other team's best perimeter player by default, whether they're a SG or SF.

I asked the same question recently. It was pointed out that Butler played SF in college and is actually playing out of position in Chicago.

For the 100th time, do we need to go over this again, those are the two most interchangeable positions. It would be a concernr for Booker but Butler is an All-NBA defender despite his average wingspan with swingman skills. He was getting the bulk of his mintues at the 3 all of the the 2012-2013 season and the Bulls were better offensively than before, it was only last season that he broke out as 2, most thought he would never be an adequate enough shooter to hold it down and preferred him switchign back back

Dude, stop...Butler is a SF. Butler is a SG. We're not talking about a 6'1" combo guard. SG/SF are the 2 most interchangeable positions on the court.
Trying out this Substack thing. Suns and NBA thoughts. Check it out: https://hoopsnexus.substack.com/

Gasol is the exact type of player, though, that we could add as a compliment to the team after we sign or trade for another All-star caliber player. He has always been professional and brings great versatility at the 4/5, and while he is no stellar defender, he could be fairly adequate when paired with Chandler. That is a lot of tall timber that guards would need to navigate in the lane.
Trade Knight, Rights to Bobo and 4 for Jimmy. Sign Pau for $25/2. Resign Telly $30/3. Tucker, Booker, Warren, #13,#28, MIA for George
Bledsoe, Butler, George, Gasol, Chandler with Tele, Goodwin, Jenkins, Price, #34, Min FA....
