With the ninth pick in the 2017 Mock Draft, Dave King and the Dallas Mavericks select....

Dennis Smith, PG, NC State
Dennis Smith is a defensive powerhouse at point guard who can distribute and score, but has trouble shooting from any kind of distance.

Dallas needs athleticism and potential, and Smith gives both.

NBA Comparison: Rajon Rondo
I think this might be the worst comparison I've ever seen.

I'm going to get so drunk the night of the lottery if the Lakers lose their pick.

I will be thrilled.

Do I wish we still had that pick over BK? Yes.
But we can't get it back.

What is best for the Suns at this moment if what is bad for the Lakers. That would be losing their pick. I suppose there would be a scenario in which the Lakers get #2 or #3 and are willing to give up a lot of something to move up and get Ball. But I do not know what I would want from the Lakers to do that. They would not have their 2018 pick.

Mavs fans are not real high on Rondo either, to say the least.

Also, if Lakers lost this year pick, and lose next years to Orlando automatically, we might have a better chance to pry away their pick this year for Bled+whatever and pick up an impact PG and SF as well from this year.

You mean pry away their pick from Philly since you're saying they lose it? They would lose their 2019 pick to Orlando.

Also, for all those who want LA to lose their pick, even if they keep it, they definitely would then lose it next year, since it would be unprotected. Imagine they won the lottery next year and could take Ayton or something and they lost it. Of course if Ayton was the clear cut #1, that would be another C for Philly.

Ayton isn't the clear number 1 right now. Apparently he has issues with his motor and wanting to drift on the perimeter.
I want the pick to convey so I can move on and forget that trade happened.

If Ball is true to his word if Lakers pick top 3, he probably won't give medical or workouts to any other team.

If the Lakers believed that the Suns want Ball a spot or two ahead of them (doubtful), I could see McD swapping picks just to get the Rocket #28 pick that's owned by LA. That additional 1st could help enable a Bledsoe deal or help find a later center prospect.

Ball's dad is an idiot but as long as lonzo plays well it won't be a big deal. I do worry that if he struggles some media will love clowning on because of his dads comments. I could see some players like lebron who dislike his dad give it a little extra when they play him to try and prove a point. IMO his dad is putting unneeded pressure on him, if hes a sun i hope he can handle it.

I think Fox is high on McD list. Besides being a Kentucky guard he would be great fit next to Booker with his defense and speed. He is very bad 3pt shooter but maybe he could fix it? He got better FT% than Fultz, Ball and Jackson. Anyone who watched him play culd tell me if he is solid playmaker?
Ntilikina is another possibility. McD is not afraid of drafting super young guys and euro players.

The Suns are a great fit for Lonzo so I don't think Lavar would be interfering. If anything he'll spend his time being a nusence for Steve Alford because Gelo will be stuck on the bench for the next 4 years.

I agree that the personnel and scheme fit is great. I actually think the best thing that could happen to lonzo is the Lakers losing that pick and doing away with the potential of him being a bitch predraft and trying to force his way onto the Lakers.
