There are a lot of unknowns still and questions, but the gist is that a guy wrote a story about what is on fbi wiretaps but he obviously never heard them or saw a transcript of them because they are sealed. And everyone just initially believed him and people on espn college basketball on tv were all saying he should be fired, Ayton shouldn't play, AZ shouldn't play in the tourney, etc.
Emmert (NCAA president) came out the next day and said "We will let AZ do what they think is right, and you guy can decide for yourself if that ESPN report is credible....because we know none of that information came from the FBI".
Later it was mentioned that the only people who have access to the wiretaps are the FBI, and criminals previously charged (and their attorneys...and the prosecutors in any upcoming trial). So basically the source for the espn reporter was very likely one of the criminals charged or his attorney.
Also, the story said he was caught on the wiretap arranging payment to Ayton to secure him, yet the wiretaps were in place from June-Sept 17 and Ayton signed in fall of 16.
The Yahoo reporters who had a long detailed report with actual evidence and ledgers that some of the people working for the agents said...tons of players named (Wendell Carter, Josh Jackson even) said they never saw anything about Ayton and Miller and they had a lot of information.
There is no way for anyone to prove Miller knew or did anything or Ayton was involved in anything unless they get charged by authorities. ESPN has kind of gone silent.
I have posted some of the information I have come across here. viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1672946#p63762341
Thanks for the summary bw. It's really poor journalism without verifying the validity of your sources. Definitely seems like they had a story and ran with it
