And again, I wouldn't endorse openly trading Oubre UNLESS I was certain that we couldn't afford to resign Oubre, Or IF we ( Suns front office) find through discussions, that he doesn't in fact INTEND TO resign with us anyways. And in that scenario, Our front office has a specific target in mind to pursue? Possibly with expressed mutual interest. Otherwise Yes, I would rather keep Oubre, But not for anything more than say around 18 million. OR IF it had to be 20 million (TOP OFFER), Then he'd have to be willing to agree to a declining scale contract. Something very similiar to Aaron Gordons' current de-escalating contract, I might include some minor scalable bonuses in the deal for improved shooting efficiency, And passing? But if he's not agreeable to that offer, Then he can go ahead and walk. Though, I personally would find greater value in perhaps either trading him to Detroit for Kennard and cap space. And then trading the 10th pick to either Chicago for Markannen. Or to Orlando for Gordon? Then you could be getting a return of either:
Kennard/ Markannen And possibly up to 25 million in cap space, IF we renounce Baynes (Cap hold), decline the options for Kaminsky, Okobo, Diallo, and Owens. And then bring back Saric at around 8 million. We then use that 25 million to sign Grant to around 42/3. Then Add Justin Holiday at around 7 million. And perhaps Burks or Shaquille Harrison at around 3 million per ( 2 yr deal/ 2nd yr team option).
But in that scenario, Oubre/10 becomes Markannen/ Kennard and Grant. That's a much better return than simply letting Oubre expire, And then trying to take our chances in 2021 free agency in my opinion.
Or the other option being Oubre and the 10 becoming Gordon/ Kennard? Then you look to add Burks, And maybe Shaq Harrison into the Mle on short term deals. And IF Detroit doesn't want Oubre, Then i'm fine with keeping him, And in this scenario, I'll then look to trade the 10th pick to Boston for Poirier/ Ojeleye (**salary taken back for 30th pick)/ 14/ 26/30th picks.
**Poirier can replace Baynes for one season.
**Ojeleye can fill a PJ Tucker role at backup 3/4 for one season. This move ( Poirier/ Ojeleye) saves Boston around 4 million in salary this summer.![]()
14- Desmond Bane. **Elite shooting to open up the paint for Oubre/ Booker.
26- Tyler Bey. Elite multi positional versatile defensive wing ( defensive compliment to Oubre/Booker/ Ayton on offense).
30- Add Xavier Tillman or Daniel Oturu ( To replace Poirier in 2021). And both have high impact high upside potential!
In free agency, Resign Saric at around 7-8 million, Then in free agency, I'd look to add Rondo or Reggie Jackson ( 1 yr deal) for our backcourt needs, And to compliment Bane.
potential lineup WITH Oubre:
-Rubio/Booker/Bridges/ Oubre/ Ayton.
-Rondo/ Bane/ T.Bey/ Cam/ Saric.
- Payne/ Carter/Ojeleye/Oturu / Poirier.
Head into 21 free agency with max cap space? ( Only 10 million though IF we resign Oubre to anything around 20 million)?![]()
But maybe, In 2021, If Giannis were willing to resign, A package built around .............
Ayton/ Cam/ Oubre ( sign n' trade)?/ Bey / 3 firsts would be enough to bring him here?
Kelly Oubre on an Aaron Gordon type of contract would be ideal, but the idea giving him that much money does make me pause a bit. Ideally he's our 4th or 5th best player, and it's tough to build a roster when you're paying your 4th best player $20M.
Trading Oubre for players along the lines of the ones that you mentioned is more the direction that I would want us to go though. Someone that you would fill a current hole or fit the roster better while providing immediate contribution similar to Oubre's. Dumping him for a decent draft pick and a bad contract would be disappointing given the expectations/hopes going into this season, and trading him to move up in the draft for an unknown in what's perceived as a weaker draft might be viewed similarly. I will say that your scenario could also be looked at as Oubre/10/Grant again Markannen/Kennard/Grant because we'd still be able to go after Grant in our current cap situation though (or a similar caliber player filling a different role).
I think this offseason should be about filling holes with the money we cleared up from Tyler Johnson. If we can find a well fitting upgrade at the expense of Oubre then I'm for it, but I'm more concerned about finding a good, reliable guard to come off the bench. If he's not part of our long-term plans, you obviously look to move him, but I don't think that's the case. A deep rotation of versatile wings is a good thing given the current NBA almost requires a perimeter player at 4 unless you're a freak like AD.
I do get the feeling we'd like to address our long-term point guard spot through the draft this year though. I'd love for us to land Haliburton, but that's probably not happening at 10.

Victor Wembanyama is going to be absurd. You very rarely see guys that big with that fluidity, shooting stroke, skill level, and feel for the game.

Oturu is going to be an incredible and impactful big man! Maybe a poor man's Embiid, Or a mix of Al Jefferson/ Clint Capela with a 3pt shot.
Also, This kid has serious Jonathan Isaac potential.
?s=09
If he falls into the 2nd round, I think that you have to roll the dice on his upside and unicorn skillset. Second only to Poku obviously.

Josh Green is going to be good. 6'10''+ wingspan, explosive jumper, great defense. Just needs to improve his handle, passing, and shooting form. Can't have enough wings who can do it all.

Kenyon Martin Jr. Is a strong, super, athletic wing option for us in the 2nd round. And as a mid to late 2nd round prospect, He could very possibly offer tremendous value to us in a backup role to Oubre, Cam and Bridges. And could be mentored quite well by all three to become a very versatile backup wing option for us!

Really nice find man!

Terey would be an awesome backcourt compliment to Booker for sure. And having both of Terry and Cam out on the perimeter would really open up the lanes for Booker and Oubres' dynamic penetration. As well as the paint more for Ayton.

If Terry really did grow and put on weight I'd say he's a lottery lock.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Terry is indeed a very interesting guy. Desmond Bane? Wouldn't touch him in the late 2nd, let alone in the lottery. One of the most ridiculous instant aka overnight 'sleepers' in recent years. PR has gone absolutely crazy this year, everyone is trying to take advantage of special circumstances.

That "I am 6'3 in shoes" tells me that he is 6'1 barefoot, but that would be enough to play PG IF he is superskilled and a terrific shooter.
Trae Young is 6'1 and other succesfull PGs are about the same height...but they are amazing ball handlers, shooters and competitors.
Watching some vids from Terry I get the impression that he is not a very good ball handler for now.

Much as any other young draft prospect, He'll have a lot to work and improve upon. But he's already an ELITE SHOOTER, an underrated passer, and is a pretty competitive guy too. His ballhandling skillset isn't yet advanced, But he can improve upon it as he gets stronger, and has a professional envitoment to support his further development.

Three prospects generating the most Suns buzz are Kira Lewis, Tyrell Terry, and Desmond Bane. All three are more likely trade back options than staying at No. 10.
Right now, I’d bet on Phoenix trying to pull off exactly what they did last year with Cam Johnson and Dario Saric. ?s=20

Funny I just logged in for the first time today and was going to post that I'd put Tyrell Terry over Kira Lewis, Jr. Much better shooter and better defender, despite the size, though in the NBA that could be more of a challenge. I hadn't even seen anything about him was just thinking about it...but noticed now there has been a bit of chatter. I don't really see him as future starting PG potential but don't really see that in this draft (if you want one in the top 15 or 20 that is)...but I see him as a great guard off the bench who could play opposite either of our starting guards.
