You know people don't just go to NBA and become basketball players, right.

"Basketball becomes easy, especially when you have the big fella. His talent is unmatched. It's something you can't teach. It's something every player wants to play with. He makes the game so easy for everybody."
Buddy Hield on playing with Deandre Ayton for Team Bahamas.
"He's going to be a threat."
New Phoenix Suns guard Eric Gordon on playing with Deandre Ayton as they led Team Bahamas to win over Cuba in Olympic pre-qualifying tournament in Argentina.
Pretty Meh for a #1 option. But if he puts those numbers up on the suns I'll be ecstatic.Saberestar wrote:Final stats for DA in the tournament with Bahamas:

16.7/10.4 for the Bahamian 2024 NBA champion maybe ?

In the NBA, I kinda look at his 2021 playoff run and last season as the benchmarks in terms of raw stats.
Averaging them out it'll look something like 16 and 11 which is a little under his career points average but also above his career rebounding average. Team scoring shouldn't be a problem so as long as he's in the double digits, it's probably enough.
It's the rebounding numbers where I want to see a bit more improvement. His rebounding numbers certainly dipped and technically averaged below double digit rebounding for the first time in his career this past season. Some of that could be the few injuries he had to deal with, not having a strong box out guy next to him in Crowder and/or perhaps just not giving 100% effort. He was also sub-10rb in the playoffs as well with 6 of the 10 playoff games with under 10 rebounds. That's opposed to only 7 sub-10rb he had in the 2021 playoff run over 22 games.
We know he has capacity to be a really good (perhaps elite) rebounder and whatever might've been the reason for the decrease in rebounds over the past season or so, it's one aspect of his game I think he has significant control over and can certainly improve on.

But were they actually historic? I mean they were sick ass numbers no doubt. But the dude that beat us averaged 30/13/5 lol. Maybe that was more historic.

First player since Tim Duncan to put up at least 15/15 in his Finals debut.
And
Doesn't look as impressive as 30/13 but historic nonetheless
