I'd trade Bledsoe for Hernangomez and some other contract filled.

Hernangomez has shown promise and could be the future at the 5 for the Suns.

So Spurs turned down Chandler for free.

Market must be bad for our older guys.

It looks like Spurs are going hard for 2018 FAs, they also dont want long contracts. I see Klay Thompson on their radar.

Suns going for a team of 6'6 to 6'8 guys playing 4 to 5 positions on the court... going full-retard Warriors style.

I'm seeing these type of posts more and more, and I feel lots of people will be dissapointed come next year (and draft time).

We would need to be in top4 to draft Ayton or Bamba. I have at least 4 reasons why we won't be there:
Chicago
Indiana
Atlanta
Brooklyn
And thats being "optimistic" for you guys. I think there will be another 2-3 teams who will be worse than us (or it will be decided by 1-2 games) between pick 5 and 10. Lakers and Sacramento will be on our level, maybe a bit worse if Bledsoe plays the whole year. New York will likely blow it up so they could be as bad as the above 4 teams in the east. If we make any progress from last year - which should be the case, then we are not getting a top 4-5 pick.

I don't think Indiana and Brooklyn's lineups are THAT bad. I haven't looked at Atlanta's, but with so many bad teams in the east, and even easier playoff teams to beat they will have an easier time getting in conference wins than us.

Give them Anderson/Chriss/Warren/Miami 1st. We dump Knight and get Cousins. I'd be good!

Bledsoe/Booker/Jackson/Bender/Cousins

No...that can't be right...We get a bonafide superstar, by giving up Warren/Miami's 1st, then Knight, who cancels out Chriss??

But I was told by another esteemed poster not but last week that we couldn't expect to nab a 'star in the making' or a 'game changer'--hence, NOT a Boogie-level talent--for Mia 1st, Warren, and any number of other players like Ulis, Sauce on a S&T, or Len on a S&T, etc.

Basically, I was told...

"We'd have to give something up to get rid of Knight, and probably Chandler. The market has dried up, especially for PGs and Cs. No one needs them...there are too many for the teams.

So in order to 'get rid of Knight' we have to give up Chriss, which leaves only Warren and Mia 1st...huh...interesting who gets 'slapped down' around here and who doesn't, yet with very similar voiced thoughts...

This has more to do with the recent hiring of Scott Perry to be their new general manager more than anything.

You'd trade a perennial 20/5/5 guy for Willy Hernangomez?

Sounded like us if the Chandler trade rumour was correct.

Do Spurs ever let go a good player?

Simmons is not "good". He is an average role player with solid defense

Only because I doubt the Suns want to pay him what he's gonna want in the next year and half or so. Plus he gets injured every other year and has a major issue with turnovers.

It's also much harder to find quality bigs than it is to find quality guards imo.

With Sauce getting resigned, the Suns should just renounce Len or sign him to the QO since the market isnt there. And find themselves in a NY/NO/PHO/HOU trade

Suns trade: Knight/Warren
Suns get: Asik/Anderson/Rockets 2020 First Unprotected/Pelican 2019 First Unprotected

Suns eat a couple of bad contracts and get a couple of future firsts. Asik goes full bench behind Chandler/Sauce, and if healthy makes a contribution. Anderson fills the stretch 4, and is insurance against Bender/Chriss bottoming out. The picks can be used to facilitate a big trade. Or they can be QUALITY picks if either NO/HOU bottom out after offseasons/age.

Knicks trade: Melo/Rose (S&T 2/20)
Knicks get: Knight/Warren

Knicks cut salary. Melo for Knight saves $10mil+ and gives NY a young SF to pair with Porz. Rose is fodder.

Pelicans trade: Asik/Pelicans 2019 First Unprotected
Pelicans get: Capela/Rose (S&T 2/20)

Pelicans shed dead weight in Asik. Rose gives them a quality PG/SG to pair with Cousins/Davis.

Rockets trade: Capela/Anderson/Rockets 2020 First Unprotected
Rockets get: Melo

Rockets get Melo to pair with Paul/Harden.

Let me stop you right there. We are in no position to trade TJ Warren. He was our second best player last season to Bled. He can be a 20+ PPG, 6 RPG, 1.5 STL player. In a very good offense, I think he could get his FG% to around 52%. Especially given our legitimate concerns about Chriss, we can't afford to lose that kind of young talent. We just added two great passers; Warren's a great finisher. It makes sense to keep and build with TJ. What we can't do is perpetually delay the ascension of this squad by trading draft picks that pan out for more draft picks.

Pretty lopsided proposal it seems, given the $8 mil per limitation on Simmons's deal before he was renounced. Avery Bradley and a 2d for Marcus Morris? I wonder if any deals can be made today that is not lopsided.

I think that we are gonna sign him.

Look...Watson wanted Millsap badly, but Millsap is expensive. Like $30M per year expensive. McDonough gives Watson a bound signing a cheaper version of Millsap in Simmons.

I know that they play different positions, but both are hard workers that Watson know very well.

Our team is young and needs some veteran help to be competitive.
I do not think that DJJ, Reed or Mike James are gonna see the floor, and Knight is done as a Sun.

With Simmons, our rotation would be....

Bledsoe/Ulis
Booker/Simmons
Warren/Jackson
Chriss/Bender
Chandler or Len/Williams

We need a pure shooter on that rotation IMO, but those are hard to get.

You didn't list Reed. I think he's going to play almost 20 mpg at backup 2 right away. There's no need for Simmons. I don't think we're the team that signs him.

Also, Simmons numbers last year were not that great. 42% from the field less than 30% from 3. There's a reason he was not re-signed by the Spurs. I grant that he does offer some value but given that he doesn't fit a position of need I don't see why we'd do it.

Yeah, I agree...I would not sign Simmons.

But Watson loves him and he is an UFA.
