I think Boston would do 3 picks.

They could do Boston 2017, Clippers 2019, Memphis 2019

I do not think the Hawks would give Millsap to their rival. I doubt they want to potentially face him in the playoffs. Their preference is most likely a western conference team.

Wasnt there talk years back about Rondo/Horford/Howard all wanting to team up together as they are all friends?

Wonder if there would be a way for everyone to help each other, like SAC talking to Rondo and finding out if he wants to go to ATL, that they could S&T him, with Knight going to SAC and Millsap coming here. That gives Sacramento a Rondo replacement that they wouldnt have if he walks in FA, gets Rondo to the team he wants (Hawks), gets Atlanta Rondo (On what i would assume to be a good deal) and clears capspace for Horford, and we get a starting all-star PF. Im sure picks would have to be added as well, but that could just be the basis of it all.

Rondo/Korver/Bazemore/Horford/Howard

Bledsoe/Booker/Dudley/Millsap/Chandler

I would also try to swindle Cousins away as well by offering Len/Warren/picks. If we somehow ended up with a core of Bledsoe/Millsap/Cousins while retaining Booker, i would consider it a major win.

Knight for Rudy Gay & 2nd rounder and then Tucker/Goodwin 2016 2nd, 2018 2nd, Kings 2nd for Paul Millsap. Kings need a PG. Hawks need depth.

Bledsoe/Booker/Gay/Millsap/Len
Ulis/Dudley/Warren/Bender/Chandler & Chriss

Can let Gay walk and go after Hayward next offseason.

Milsap for Knight and Tucker and 2 1st rounders and call it a day.

Bledsoe/Ulis
Booker/Archie
Dudley/TJ
Milsap/Chriss/Bender
Chandler/Len

That's a team that can compete for a playoff spot. Yet it's also a team with 7 guys on rookie contracts. Make the yongsters outplay the vets. Earn RESPECT.

I like it a lot.

I trust McD will do the right thing on this Millsap situation, I wouldn't be surprise if a trade only happens if we are essentially get the guy for "free"

How would our spacing be with Milsap?

He looks like a post guy (and I LOVE that), but with him and Chandler in the font line, they are limited to 15 feet and in. And doesn't McD have a fetish for stretch 4's?

Not bad reasoning on the Knight/Gay swap. Kind of tough to pull the trigger there. An offer here though, viewtopic.php?f=340&t=1459145&start=162#start_here

I never knew Millsap had this much power.

4 hours ago we were happy with Dudley and filling the minimum salary.

Throwing picks for aged player on his downside, at this point of our team’s development is a stupid, stupid thing to do.

This could be a three-way trade.

Hayward to the Suns, Milsap back to UTA, picks and TPE to ATL. UTA gets to compete, PHX gets their man, ATL gets cap space to sign Horford to pair with Howard and maybe grab Rondo.

Bled/Knight/Hayward/Dudley/Chandler
Hill/Hood/Johnson/Milsap/Gobert (trade Favors separately, maybe?)
Schroeder/Korver/Bazemore/Horford/Howard- ouch! that lineup will be a lot to handle in the East. They could use a PG better than Schroeder though.

This is why I think a Knight for Milsap swap makes sense. Hawks need a PG, Suns need a starting power forward.

This last season was the best of his career.

Bender/Chriss will still get minutes behind him, dont worry.

"We’re fully committed to their development," McDonough said. "They’re two of the youngest players in the draft, two of the three youngest guys in this year’s draft class, so we’ll be patient with them.

Like i said before, McD has already talked about how young and raw they are and how we will develop them slowly. Give them 2-4 years behind an all-star. hell, even if they develop quicker than expected, we could still have a all-star or former all-star to trade to a contender.

The thing is that hawks are only doing this trade to shed salary, so I don't think they want to take guaranteed salary back

You are right except that ATL needs the cap space to absorb Horfords contract they are writing him. I need to run numbers but between Howard, Bazemore and Hoford, I think they will be capped out. If not I would be okay putting Knight in as part of the equation. It would still give us cap to grab Hayward and one additional good player.

Are we seriously considering trading assets for a guy with one year left on his salary? Why not just sign him next summer and keep our picks that we can develop alongside our future core?
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Knight for Millsap saves them roughly $5M.

Facilitating a Rondo S&T to Atlanta like i mentioned before would save them right around the same amount, but would also please Horford as well.
