Is Deng on a 2 year deal? If that is correct I really don't see a downside to that deal.

And on a very reasonable contract.

Miami deals
SF Luol Deng
PF Shawne Williams
PG Norris Cole
For
PG Isaiah Thomas
SG/SF P.J. Tucker.
I like it. I'ld ask for a Lottery protected 1st tho.
However the premise of the trade seems pretty fair.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
I would be fine with Deng/Cole for Thomas/Green. Leave Tucker out of it. Green gives you an expiring, or if he works out, you guys have his bird rights to re-sign him.
We would also have to talk to Deng, as he has a player option for next season, and if he decides he wants to walk, then we just gave up 2 nice trade pieces for Norris Freakin' Cole, and that aint happening.
I honestly thing Thomas would do great next to Wade. When it comes to scoring the Ball, IT is great, and seeing how Wade controls the ball, that would free up Thomas to do what he does best, score buckets.
Deng would give us a better version of Tucker. Same defense, just better offense. He also is a vet with playoff experience.
I too would ask for a future pick, as Thomas is the best player the Suns send out and he is on a great priced new contract, while Deng is the best Miami player in the trade and he could walk.

IDK. The fact that Deng could walk isn't necessarily a bad thing as that frees up more money with a lot of potential free agents available. I guess asking for a draft pick wouldn't hurt.

Unfortunately we do not own a 2015 1st rounder. It's top 10 lotto protected but the 76ers own it. I would love to get Green over Tucker for sure. I did not include Green in the original proposal because i was thinking you guys would probably be more interested in maximizing cap flexibility by taking Tucker off the books and rolling with Green and going from there.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
I thought Green was outplaying Tucker this year? IMO if you guys get Deng then Tucker makes the most sense as the player dealt. The numbers also work out almost down to the penny with contracts going in and out. The bonus for you guys in this deal is you get players in Deng, Cole, and Williams that improve your team greatly but also give you supreme cap flexibility. Sometimes that becomes the sweetner in a deal rather then the need to be compensated with a pick witch i do not feel is necessary. You improve your starting 5 in Deng and of course your bench takes a hit losing Thomas but you get a bigger more defensive minded PG who may even exceed expectations in your system due to your offensive style matching Cole's play. Williams has also turned his career around with the Heat and is in the best shape of his life. He would provide a much needed stretch 4 off the bench which you are severly lacking behind Morris at the current moment.

Just gauging the landscape but would you guys do Wilson Chandler, Randy Foye, nate Robinson for Warren , ennis, and PJ tucker. If not what would it take for us to get at least ennis.

Re: Official Trade Thread: New Year, New Thread, New Laughs
If Suns are going to deal with Heat... 1 for 1 makes the most sense..
Suns doesnt need another PG coming back.... as they have Ennis. Goodwin who can play some minutes.
Deng for Thomas... is clean
But I rather also check out Brandan Wright for Isaiah Thomas... Wright brings in front court reinforcement.

You can't get two promising guys on rookie deals for 2nd wave FA guys (guys you sign when the guys you wanted are gone) like Foye or Robinson. We could have had them ourselves at any time. There's a reason why we didn't sign them. I do like Chandler's game he's just not needed with Marcus and Green here. Also, we need Tucker's defense and overall intensity on the court. I wanted Gary Harris and he was available when we picked twice so clearly the Suns FO don't value him much.
Outside of Afflalo there's little on your roster that meets our needs. If Afflalo were under contract (PO next year) I'd suggest something like Afflalo & Nurkic for Green and Ennis. We need defense at the wings and he's a little more consistent than Green and Nurkic looks like a guy that can rebound (avg 5 rebounds in 12 min, that's pretty damn good) which we sorely need. It would save you guys a bit of money now and you'd get someone that could play behind Lawson right now. You'd still have Must-see-McGee and the Moz at C.

If Nurkic is attainable without moving Warren, I am more than willing to talk about PJ, Ennis, Archie, pick.

Very good point. But the specific players don't make a ton of sense in my opinion. Deng is indeed better than Tucker, but PJ is more than holding his own, and we have no need for Cole. If one of the pieces was a PF/C with a plausible future here, that would make the deal extremely interesting, despite the fact that the Suns would be sending out the best value in Thomas. A third team that could use Deng or Cole shouldn't be hard to find. Atlanta/Payne, Boston/Wright+, maybe Charlotte, Chicago, for instance.

Exactly my thoughts, though Miami won't give up their pick I guess.
BTW, DRK, thoughts on Gerrard leaving at the end of the season?

If you are looking for a third team then look no further then Chicago. They could certainly use Deng and he already fits there system. About a week ago when the Heat's front court was banged up i suggested a Deng and Justin Hamilton for either Taj Gibson and Doug Mcdermott or Gibson, Dunleavy Jr., and 1st rd pick. Some variation of that deal could also help you guys. Heat, Bulls, and Suns can definetly work together and make something realistic happen. Bulls and Suns are both great fits for Deng. You guys have the PG Miami desperately needs tho.

I don't know if the Bulls would be willing to move Gibson for Deng (I wouldn't, btw). Definitely don't think Deng has Gibson+ value, and certainly not McBuckets or a role player and a 1stR pick. If anything, Chicago could be the one needing an extra asset back.
If they would consider trading Gibson, Phoenix makes a terrific destination for sure. I am interested in Hamilton for the Suns, by the way.

Hamilton would be a great fit on your squad as a seven footer who can shoot the three. In our imaginary trade world i would throw him in the deal. Tony Mitchell would need to come back to Miami to make salaries work. So in the end we would have Deng, Cole, Williams, and Hamilton for Thomas, Tucker, and Mitchell.
