Even though Booker's only 18, he was rated among the most NBA ready prospects in the draft.

As I've said before, expect Booker to spend more time in the NBDL than in the NBA this season. Yes he's got a nice shot, beyond that, he has a lot of development to do. He was drafted for the player he can be, not the one he is currently. Expect Weems and Goodwin to get the bulk of the minutes at SG.

Then what happens to Knight who the Suns just gave $14M to?

I should have been more specific. Expect Weems and Goodwin to get the bulk of the minutes at SG coming off the bench.

I remember him being an exceptionally good athlete but his shooting was very questionable. Hopefully it has improved in Europe.

I'm looking into his stats...
- 3.5 APG w/ 1.55 AST/TO is CRAZY high for Euroleague (he was even better last year - 3.7APG w/ 2.1 A/TO)
- really good volume shooter (37% in 5 att per game)
- not a playmaker in defense, but can play the lanes fairly well

he's really good... I think the door is closing for Archie.

Good pick up I guess. Is the second year a team option though?

Good move. I really didn't see this coming.
Sonny was shooting very well this past few years in EL, especially lethal from mid range. He also covered 4 from time to time and it worked pretty well, so i'm not concerned whether he'll do the job as sf in NBA. Not an elite defender, but definitely decent.

I hope this isn't another Josh Childress signing though.

good one here, a player from euro is able to play team basketball, which is what we are missing so far.
and if he is able to score, assist und steal in a low scoring euroleague than he should do good on a highscoring
nba team

Props to the great one

He's 20 years old..... But sure, let's toss him out with the bath water.....
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

I'm in between. The signs are there... We signed two relatively young guards this offseason (Knight and Weems), who are better than him. Drafted another really youg SG, and have Bogdan coming over in a year, who is also a young star in the Euroleague. If Archie is not showing his skills this year in the limited time he gets, then I think we will attach him to a trade, or not resign him once his contract is up.

I think he's strictly here to replace Tucker (and Green to a lesser extent).

Euro-seasoned defensive wing on the cheap - brings a pro's attitude and won't take his second chance for granted - plus he's taken a big paycut to get here so he'll play hard every night in the hope of securing a bigger pay-day.

Now what happens with Tucker...There's too many PFs on the Celtics and the Cavs have a big expiring and a need for wing depth.

Tucker to the Cavs
Haywood expiring to the Celtics (maybe a pick or cash as well)
Sully or Olynyk to the Suns

Would do this in a heartbeat, even though I m not a huge fan of either Sully or Oly, as they are not real difference makers. At least we would have a little depth at PF, and this could light a competitive fire under Markieffs butt. At the end of the season (or at the deadline) we can see who fits/performs better.
(Not to mention the obvious possibility of Markieff pouting and being butthurt about his bro.)

A mature, hard working player who was the best wing in the EuroLeague.

This.

No way he was the best wing in Europe though. Thats an overstatement. He wasn't the best wing on his team, if you count Nando as a wing.

We gave Childress a $33'5M / 5 years contract. Around $6'7M per year on a guaranteed 5 years contract.

Sonny Weems have signed a $5'8M /2 years contract, with the second one being a team option.

It is not that a big difference? We are not investing a lot in this player and he can be a big surprise in his return to the NBA.

I'd like that trade but Boston would definitely need at least one pick, right? They'd be giving up a young prospect and taking on a year of Haywood's contract without shedding any bad contracts in the process. I don't know what Sullinger's value is around the league but I would bet they could get something better than an expiring contract they don't really need, so they'd probably want a pick for Sullinger and a pick for taking Haywood's contract. Maybe if we gave them CLE's 2016 first and CLE gave them their 2018 first.

2 years $5.8 million is not exactly SG of the future money, more like plan B if Archie and Booker aren't ready this year. I think we're still committed to Archie, we drafted him knowing he is raw and needs to develop his jump shot. I can't imagine McD thought he'd become a consistent player in just 2 years.

I saw Weems in CSSK and i think he is a good player ....in Europe. I believe that Gerald Green was the perfect pick , as Gerald wants to stay in Valley. I love Gerald and his 3point strikes .
I dont know, if Sony will have a major role for our run, to 8 spot of Western Conference

Yea this reminds me of a cheaper version of that.

At the time we signed him, Childress was like the king of Europe basketball or something and had various offers and stuff which he turned down....sounds familiar to this.

Return to Phoenix Suns
