I'm bringing it back!!! Thoughts on these cheap bigs? Basically, any of these guys you think would be better suited than Leuer as our backup if Morris gets suspended and/or Len goes down? I personally would like to see one of Acy/Sims/Onuaku given a chance...

I'm still not sold on Leuer for us. Would rather look at a guy that could conceivably back up both the 4 and 5 positions. We do eed to plan for the prospect of missing Kieff for several games this year due to suspension. As few as 8-10 games could derail our chances at the 8th seed. There are still a few guys out there as FAs that remain unsigned, and while I get the fact that if they are still unsigned at this point, they likely aren't worth much, but would suspect they are worth more than what will be available in a few months when the suspension hits.

And yes, I get that it may be all for naught, as Kieff may be cleared completely, but again, an 8-10 game suspension could be the difference between 3-4 wins. So what are your thoughts on these guys coming in cheap? (Smith and James listed first, being former teammates with Tyson)

Greg Smith - 6' 10" 260, 7' 2.5" Wingspan, 8' 11" Reach -- 1.9pts/1.8rebs in 8 mpg

Bernard James - 6' 10" 230, 7' 3" Wingspan, 9' .5" Reach -- 2.6pts/2.3rebs in 9mpg

Quincy Acy - 6'8" 240, 7' 2.5"Wingspan, 8' 11" Reach -- 6pts/4.5rebs in 19 mpg

Henry Sims - 7' 245, 7' 4" Wingspan, 9' Reach -- 8pts/5rebs in 19mpg

Arinze Onuaku - 6'9" 260 -- 4.5pts/3.5rebs 11 mpg

Justin Hamilton - 7' 255, 7' 2" Wingspan, 9' 1" Reach -- 2.8pts/2rebs in 12mpg

Pero Antic - 6' 11" 260 -- 5.4pts/3rebs in 16mpg (Playing in Euro league--probably not available/willing to play in NBA)

Glen Davis - 6' 9" 290 -- 3.8pts/2.2rebs in 12mpg

Reggie Evans - 6' 9" 250, 7' 2" Wingspan, 9' 1" Reach -- 3.7pts/6.4rebs in 16mpg

Tyler Hansbrough - 6' 10" 250, 6' 11.5" Wingspan, 8' 10" reach -- 3.5pts/3.5rebs in 14 mpg

Jeff Withey - 7' 240, 7' 2" Wingspan, 9' 2" Reach -- 2.6pts/1.7rebs in 7mpg

Kevin Seraphin - 6' 10" 280 -- 6.5pts/36rebs in 15 mpg

Darrell Arthur - 6'9" 235, 6' 11" Wingspan, 8' 11" Reach -- 6.6pts/2.9rebs in 17 mpg

Ryan Hollins - 6' 11" 235, -- 3pts/2.3rebs in 10mpg

Nice list. I'd probably go after these guys, in this order: (1) Sims; (2) Seraphin; (3) Arthur; (4) Hansbrough. I think Sims has the most upside, but it's hard to tell, considering he played for the Sixers. KJ McDaniels looked like an All-Star in Philly but hasn't left the bench in Houston. Seraphin is a proven backup big man. I'm surprised a team like Dallas hasn't shown more interest in him. Arthur has the potential to be a nice defender at the four spot. I think he's been held back by injuries. The Suns medical staff could help with that. And lastly, Psycho T. He'd be the 2015-16 Suns's Lou Amundson. Every team needs a hyperactive big man off the bench. Hansbrough is that, plus he gets in other players' heads and can draw technical fouls. And if we need to give a hard foul, Hansbrough is the guy.

I'm big on the potential of Greg Smith. I would very much like him here instead of Leuer now that Teletovic is aboard.

PJ3 had all the physical tools, skills, and opportunity to succeed in OKC with Durant being out and failed

We need PJ. With so many good swing men in the league we need his defense. TJ can't play 48 minutes at SF and we are not sure how good Weems will be, but that would be strictly in small ball situations as there is little chance he could guard Durant or Harden.

Weems and Tucker are actually the same height. And I think Weems has a longer wingspan as well.

OK, I was thinking Tucker was a little bigger. Tucker is proven though as being to defend some of these guys so I'd rather hang onto him at least for half the season or so for depth and defense.

P.J. Tucker is bigger and stronger than Weems...it's not even close. They have similar height, but Tucker is longer (I think he has 7 foot wingspan, Weems 6'10) and he weighs around 35 lbs more (Tucker 240 lbs, Weems 205 lbs) ...and the most important difference: their mentality playing the game. Tucker hustles, fights, loves the phisical game...Weems is not a banger or something like that, he is better defending pure SGs or even some big PGs.

I've been a PJ3 fan since his draft year.
I want him to be the hybrid PF.... Similar role as Green and Barnes play for Warriors.

6'11 very athletic, good dynamic player.

Nobody comes right out and says it, but I suspect Perry Jones may be Petarded.

Yes and I think he is not good enough to crack the rotation here, he is not better than Warren or Tucker and I think he doesn't play big enough to play PF on a regular basis. To play some minutes at PF we have Markieff and Teletovic and even Leuer. ..we have 13 guaranteed contracts already, not more logjam please.

I think McDuh has made some good strides, but as is, barring superman performances, we are still a mediocre team.

Yes, we shored up the C spot.... Now Len can watch and learn and hopefully abuse second stringers. Chandler is an improvement as well.

We've added wing and PG depth with some hardworking been around awhile vets.

Our draft was soso, and if Booker amounts to anything in the next couple of yrs its gravy. Y'all ought to tone it down on him. He might be the next Archie

I like getting Teletovic... how can he hurt ?

What I don't see is how this squad does anything but barely contend. NO, Minny, and Utah all seem to be built as good or better. More changes are needed.

Move Tucker, and really, unless KeifMo takes an 'embrace this team/town' approach soon, I say deal him. His initial reaction was not surprising... He was butthurt angry... his one and only comment was a snipey tweet... He needs to follow up with a positive statement and soon... else he is going going gone. Where is the 'Hey, I understand this game is a business. I am grateful to have been able to play with my brother and glad for his new opportunity. Now its time for me to focus on winning here and getting the fans excited again. I like the way our team is shaping up...' ???

With his past,i.e., the techs, ripping the fans, avoiding post gamers, and public beatings.... he either really needs a new environment or needs to step up and apologize. Frankly, I don't see him apologizing for anything as it goes against his Philly gangsta FOE code. The beat down was justified, no matter the consequences. You just don't disrespect momma. Strangely, I can see that point and highly doubt there is any remorse...there is just a legal inconvenience.... His other stuff is likely to complicating-ly trivial for him to understand his fault. And now with the FO disrespectin his clonebro.... well.... I just sense his agent has moved in and privately asked for a deal. To publicly do it would diminish his worth and perhaps his opportunities.

I don't think McDuh is done yet.

I'm with Carey on Greg Smith. I am way tired of not so powerful PFs. I'll barf when I read the next 'positive' take on PJ as a PF. He's not F-n Barkley.

Smith has legit size... and really had poor timing with declaring for the draft and lately injury.

Smith attended Edison High School in Fresno, California from 2005 to 2008. As a junior in 2007–08, he averaged 22 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and five blocks per game. In 2008, he transferred to Westwind Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, Arizona where as a senior in 2008–09, he earned All-Arizona State honors and was nominated for the McDonald’s All-America Team after he averaged 26 points, 14.4 rebounds, six blocks, four assists and three steals per game.

Were getting no love on the GB. They really think the Mavs, Kings will be better than us.

I'd say no to Sactown due to their dysfunctional FO running their organization into the ground in addition to coaching turmoil since Karl coupled with primma donnas like Rondo and Boogie is a ticking time/meltdown waiting to happen. Mavs always have a shot with Carlisle but Dirk is nearing the end, Parsons is only a sidekick they have no legit bigs and a past his prime DWill is probably not the solution at P. All in and all we will be pretty bad imo and probably struggle to stay above .500 but still somehow find ourselves in the rat race for the eight seed .But the Jazz will be a defensive jugernaut with a progressing Exum and recovered Burks to go along with their formidable frontcourt will eventually pull away if they can step it up like they did last season after the break. We probably can't overcome the talent differential
