Jeff Hornacek Fired

If I had to guess why they chose to fire Hornacek now, it is probably because of his minutes distribution with the young players. You are losing already but to lose the way the Suns have where your young players do not get the majority of the playing time is ridiculous. Len got only 17 minutes against the Knicks and 15 minutes against the Mavericks. Warren had been in Hornacek's dog house recently for supposedly not hustling during one play and was receiving inconsistent playing time. Myself and other posters have said for a while that Booker, Len, and Warren should be playing 30+ minutes every game. Hopefully the new coach goes all in with the young guys 100%. That is what fans want at this point anyway.

I know the FO was basically telling him who to play and such. Dont know if they were also telling him how many minutes to give out, but im wondering if he decided to go against one of their decisions in game and they finally let him go because of it. We will soon find out......

Surely they could of simply just let Hornacek continue until end of the season.

Unless Sarver pushed to get a new coach to make a run for the 8th seed. Which will be a huge fail... Future wise. If suns want to trade for stars they need high picks... Or if just drafting a stud rookie.

If the suns get Thibs though... Atleast the young players will learn defense and will improve fast.

So an insider have confirmed that the FO is telling him to play specific players eh.

This season is not his fault. Yeah he has his flaws but Bledsoe out for year. Markieff demanding trades and knight going down he's been left with basically nothing.

I want the Suns to hire mark Jackson I think he's a good players coach and I like his system on offense

This team! Ugh. I wanted him fired since early last season and they held on to him thru everything. Now that he really didn't stand a chance with this roster due to injuries/Markieff they fire him? Makes no sense.
I was happy that we were finally (albeit forced) rebuilding, developing and playing young guys whilst being on track for a top pick...now I am really worried McD/Sarver will start talking playoffs, only X games out of the 8th seed again and everything will slip away.

I hope TJ Warren didn't reinjure himself doing backflips after hearing this news - he'll need to be fit as he might actually get some playing time now.

Makes sense to me now why the Suns fired the assistants first. They planned to fire Jeff all along, and planned to either make Gaines or Watson interim HC. Problem is that Longabardi and Sitching were next in line, similar to how Turner and Majerle were next in line for HC in 2012 when Gentry was fired. Suns didn't want any more drama in an already drama filled season where two assistants quit because they feel disrespected.

Suns really having a problem to look like a decently managed team. Would have been so much easier to just let the season end and not renew the contract.

Only risk in that would be if current players were demanding him gone and GM wants to keep a good relationship with them.

Lose lose scenario at this point.

If we start winning games, we lose our shot at a top pick and all these losses are for nought. We don't make the playoffs and are stuck with another late lotto pick.

If we keep losing, then the all the change does is add further instability to an already turbulent season.
