I just saw the 4th qtr, but they were feisty. Delladova seems a lot better than most people give him credit for. He will help Milwaukee this year. Next olympics most of these guys may be too old but they will probably have Ben Simmons, Dante Exum and Thon Maker.

Yeah, their future is bright. They have a ton of players with talent and they reminds me of Canada in that regard.

But right now his best player is Bogut and when he is healthy and engaged he is really fun to watch. What a terrific passer and defender.

Delly definitely looks better than I gave him credit for, plus he and Patty Mills are both young enough and with the other young guys you've mentioned hopefully joining the team, the Aussie 2020 Olympic basketball team should be strong.

Just gotta hope Thon is somewhere near he's actual age..Bogut and Delly combo was sweet. Pretty disappointing in Cousins. If anyone thinks he is gonna be our saviour just watch this game. He's contribution was kevin love-esq.

I wouldn't put too much weight on these games, especially for the US. Its like an extended all star week party for them.

I don't think I've watched one game of US olympic basketball game since the dream team's inception. I have never been accepting of the pros' eligibility.... but I am one of those old F-ers who enjoyed Collegiate/amature representation. They played their nuts off. Just think how more interesting it would be to have a team comprised of rookies.... I still have a tee-shirt of the 1980 team when they played an exhibition game in the Madhouse. Isiah Thomas, Buck Williams, Mark Aguire, ASU C Alton Lister, Sam Bowie, and others....

Carter was such a sissy for boycotting those games.

Quick search news here on it... since most you were teething or a glint ....

Yes, I'd much rather watch the college stars in the olympics. Or I wish they only took players who were 25 and younger. I had a hard time pulling for that US team. Paul George is about the only guy I really like.

It would be nice to finally get a Sun on the team again.

I don't get why boxing and wrestling don't have pros while almost every other sport has.

Well I don't know about other countries, but pro wrestling isn't exactly like real wrestling in the U.S.

Wrestling is maybe a bad example but boxing sticks out like a sore thumb. Some very good pros have fought in the Olympics before turning pro but very good pros can't go back to fight for their country.

Amateur boxing is still bit different to pros. Amateur boxing is only 3 rounds, headgears, slightly different style and scoring etc.

No other sport is as brutal as boxing. Putting pro boxers in the same tournament as amateurs is just asking for trouble.

With the Olympics not being a paid competition, realistically how many pros would actually be willing to participate in the rigorous qualification stages and forego a professional career?

I dunno which pros would be willing but I'm 100% sure there would be at least a few pros wanting to represent their country and go through what it takes to get there.

I'm a fan of competition and an Olympic champion should in most cases, signify the world's best. The world's best aren't in boxing right now.

So I haven't been able to go to work the last couple days because of a bad back and I was watching day time Olympics. I had no idea canoeing in rqpids was an Olympic event.

I bring this up because FIBA is trying to get 3-on-3 to be an event. I would LOVE more basketball events. How many swimming events are there? Get 3 on 3, I would love a 3 point shootout too, would be very competitive with some of the amazing shooters around the world and it wouldn't be reliant on athleticism. Ray Allen could keep being an Olympian with his shot.

That is true. I had so much more respect for boxers after getting into a competition where I had three 90 second rounds with headgear and gloves. I was in good shape and everything and I have never been more wiped out in my life. I could barely catch my breath the rest of the night and my neck hurt badly and I was mostly on the offensive. It made me realize how costly it can be to go at the other guy a bit too much though. Even though I hit him more and bloodied him up I was more wiped out at the end and probably also missed far more punches. I just can't imagine the shape you've got to be in for 10 rounds at 3 minutes a round. In fact, my fight might have only been two rounds.

Very happy to see Simone Manuel win that gold, and for Ally Raisman to go out the way she did.

Funny to hear the announcers say, "This is monumental for the sport of swimming in the US." My wife turns to me and says, "What is he talking about?" I said, "More black kids will starts swimming competitively." She said, "That is not about race, its about economics. It costs more money to swim at the beginning. If it was just about race, golf would be filled with black kids post Tiger Woods."

It is an interesting discussion. It was fantastic to Simone Manuel win though. It obviously surprised her and meant so much to her. I can't help it, I am much more impressed with the athlete who is humbled by the moment than the one who is arrogant in it.

Oh, I agree. For me, watching her stand on the podium was far more powerful than watching Phelps raise his finger and then four fingers indicating 1st 4 olympics in a row in the event. Same the older swimmers like Plummer and Ervin who seem more humble as well as Ryan Murphy taking all the backstrokes.

you guys mean like the Lily King show? being gracious in victory?
On a basketball note Croatia beat Brazil in a nice show vs quite a few NBA players. Cant wait for Bender to be a part of this.
With the guys like Ante Zizic, Zubac, Bender and a few others comeing up this will be even more of a high motor feisty scrappy team, just with even more talent. Kinda exciting.

I know right. I'm an amateur but I've heard from pros who have tried amateur competitions (they were unofficial comps so they were allowed to participate) and they told me how different it was compared to a drawn out 5 round pro fight. But yeah, so much admiration for pros to go that many rounds anyway.

Aussies just got robbed of the Bronze. That foul call with 5 seconds left was absolute ****, Mills played textbook defense. Someone tell me where the foul is here???

Bogdan has looked horrible, doesn't even belong on the floor for that team.

Lots of inane 1-on-1 moves that have zero effectiveness, and multiple bad passes where he basically passed directly to a US player. No effort on the boards or attempt to slash, just stands on the 3 pt line unless he has the ball or he thinks he can get a pass. And that's before considering his 0-7 at the half, with a number of bad chucks that he should have passed up.

The draft day trade to get Chriss already looked good for us, looking better by the minute now.
