I've learned to calm down about it, because the flashes are all-around. Took him a while to get rebounding, defense, and rim protection, but now he's a very good rebounder and rim protector, and a solid if unspectacular defender.

That offensive foul against Sullinger - he looked really good with the short shot he took there, though it didn't count. He's looked much better with those close-in shots of late. Still doesn't have the mechanics of how and when to get space, but it doesn't look like he needs nearly as much of it any more.

This trend too may fall away, and we'll be left waiting. But perhaps next year he'll be solid scoring on the interior as well. Then you just start to stack all the hurdles he's overcome - health? Check. Rebounding? Check. Rim protection? Check. Defense? Finishing? Getting closer. Then offense. He's still coming along. Big men often take time.

Yes, his driving ability sucks right now. He isn't strong enough to go strong in the paint. He always gets pushed away from the rim or he himself is fading away from the rim on a layup. Frustrating to say the least because it looks like he is trying to avoid contact.
