I'd do that.

Phew, well we can all sleep well tonight. Given the direction of the plan, it'd be head scratching to not renew McD soon.

Lets get Ibaka!

I'm actually not that concerned with Ibaka.

He has posted 15ppg 7rpg 1.4bpg on 40% 3pt (making just under 2 per game).

His block per game is down understandably since there are far fewer inside the paint shots these days.

If he can be had for a decent contract, lets say a 4 year 65 million contract, I would make him Suns starting center.

If not Suns...
I can see Spurs trading Aldridge for Ibaka via Sign and Trade.
Then trading Green for Love, absorbing the difference into their cap room.
Then if they can convince Parker to retire, they can sign Iguadala or Gay to a 15 million a year contract.
Then if Suns buy out Knight, they sign him for minimum.
You have...

C: Ibaka
PF: Love
SF: Gay/Iguadala
SG: Leonard
PG: Murray
C/PF: Gasol
PG: Mills
SG/SF: Anderson
SG/SF: Simmons
PF/C: Lee

not bad to compete with the Warriors.

But I should be posting that on the Spurs board lol

on locked T & FA thread, but I'm curious if anyone has an answer to my last line:

...when one of Eric's knees slips or slides, this way or that a bit (it's due), Knight might rehab some of his value.

Don't move him just to move him. It's not likely he'll ever help this Suns team, but I find it hard to believe his career is basically over. Keep probing for a deal, but it's not hurting anything to wait.

What?..Who would be the comparable once above average guard, mid-twenties, non-injury flameout? Is there one?

I wouldn't be opposed to Ibaka, depending on how much money he is looking at. That would mean Len/Chandler/Williams are gone, but I'd be fine with that.
We'd be a pretty nasty team with him actually.

This is what I truly believe: Knight envisions himself starting. He played very well for us in 2015 when he wasn't hurt. Then we drafted Booker. Everyone was hurt in 2015-16 and Booker shined. Knight comes back and there's no place for him. He gets mad. He says all the right things, but deep down he's thinking, "shoot. This was gonna be my spot, and now there's this 19 year old kid in the way." So he pulls a Markieff Morris and doesn't play that well because he's frustrated, or because he just doesn't play that well coming off the bench, or because he doesn't mesh with our second unit.

For whatever reason, Knight didn't work out here as the third guard. Ulis is the future and everyone knows it. I do think Knight has a future somewhere. Toronto seems like a very good spot if Lowry leaves. Other than that, maybe he'll have some luck in Orlando or Sacramento as the third guard. Think Brandon Jennings in Washington. I don't know. Point guard is a deep position in this league.

I'm unclear on Kanter's value overall...his value with OKC, so I'm really asking for it, but could this help with OKC's "one year run" and a PHX uber young, clean rebuild? (still think Suns wants some vets around, but if not)...

Kanter/Huestis/Illyasova trade exception

for

Chandler/Dudley/Barbosa

I'd love to rip off a team like Hinkie did to Sacramento. Get an unprotected 1st and pick swap in b2b years. I know the Lakers would do it with Deng but they'll be good in 2020+. As will the Knicks/Noah.

I thought Knight had good chemistry with Chriss. If you watch Chriss's dunks, several good finds by Knight are in there. I don't think Knight is a bad player and think whatever team ends up with him will be very happy. I think he'd flourish with the Pelicans, Spurs, or even the Pistons.

I'm not entirely sure about this (nor am I looking it up - old school, I know) but Steve Francis? Did he get hurt?

Any thunder trade is illogical...

not an option considering what McD just said about the team's direction. They also need Kanter.

Now that Teague has bolted, who does Indy have at PG? Knight seems like he could be a good fit alongside Oladipo. Knight is also young enough to lead their rebuild, and cheap enough to take a flier on given the ridiculous money being thrown around for average starting PG's right now. Hell, even Patty Mills just landed near-Knight money.

2 seasons ago when he was on the Thunder... he was giving Draymond Green problems with his length and stretch abilities... it was Thunder's big men that had advantage and it showed... until Durant gave in in that Game 6 and 7...

Ellis is on a 1+1 year deal right? And he is used to coming off the bench?

Do it and run. Closes the Knight chapter, saves us $3m, or $7m if we don't pick up Barbosa, which we wouldn't need to now given Monta can fill his role.
