i know i know - Ibaka has a lot of crap game in him lately, but would anybody like the idea of Ibaka/Future 2nd for Warren/Dudley? Would be nice to have a solid backup PF/C off the bench for Ariza/Ayton. Chandler not the guy this year and Bender is so fickle n timid. The bench bigs would be Chriss/Ibaka...not too shabby considering you wanna roll Ariza at PF.

Gives u proven defense, blocking, veteran bench. You don't need any more wing scoring with Warren. Already got Bridges, Ariza, Jackson, etc...

Ibaka - 21 mill / 2 yrs
2nd Round Pick

for

Dudley - 9 mill / expiring
Warren - 11 mill / 4 yrs

Wow talk about a tight market, would've paid him that for sure. Would've been a fantastic backup.

Lol at Love for Jackson

Suns have rebounding covered with Ayton and Chandler and barrage of long athletic forwards... Shooting is also looking ok with Booker, Bridges and Reed.

I can see Bender, Warren and 2x future second round picks for Love. He's a salary dump in a way.

76Ers would probably offer more but they have a lot of PFs who can stretch the defense and also play defense.

Come to think of it... Dudley and Warren for Love would make sense... If suns can get a future protected first if they add Bender then that's a good deal... Cavs clear cap room... Gets younger.

Suns get another veteran who is much better than Bender.

With the west stacked of scoring power having Jackson, Bridges and Ariza helps dramatically.... Helps Booker and Ayton... Save energy for offense... Ayton will need to be aggressive with help defense from the deal side though.

Kevin Love for Josh Jackson?

Keep walking Josh Jackson for Love. Its fine to ask but not happening I do not believe. Gambo in his tweet about Bender mentioned how he thinks they are looking for a PF. So this goes along with this report. I see two Suns trades. As with Love, the Suns are basically out of free agency next summer unless Love opts out - which he can. So, taking on Kyle Korver - who is owed 3.4m in 19/20 if waived, 7.5m if kept on roster. Its savings for the CAvs next summer

Cleveland: Warren, Dudley, Daniels, Chriss, Suns 1st rounder, lottery protected (or the Bucks pick) and a 2nd rounder -
Phoenix: Love and Korver
--this deal saves the Cavs about 4m of cash this year also get two young players in WArren and Chriss (or Bender) plus if they buyout Dudley, might be more cash savings. If they want Reed or Harrison, might add one but not both!

Option 2: its the whole enchilada - taking on three contracts from the Cavs, adding Hill to the Suns and Chandler to the Cavs - thinking this saves them 8m almost in salary for 18/19; another 4.4m with Hill and Korver getting at 1 lease and 3.4 next summer. Plus they buy our Chandler and Dudley even more cash savings for Gilbert. If the Suns have Love, they are capped out anyway -- so taking Hill and Korver basically just take from SArvers pocket book but its really not long term debt. Basically with this trade and signing Alan Williams for the minimum - Sarver is looking at a payroll of $110m

Love doesn't make a ton of sense with Ayton in the middle. If we had a defensive C, maybe, but our frontcourt D would suffer....we already have the 3 pt shooting and don't really need the rebounding.

Jackson is super young. I don't care if he is taking 1 handed scoop shots from the 3 point line, his jumper even then would not be unfixable.

I don’t get this ‘don’t need rebounding’ opinion. Chandler is done, at best he is a dnp every other game. Ayton might snag 8-10 but the rest of the roster is 4-5 per.

Don’t look now but Bridges just might make Jackson expendable. It’s not a stretch to think MB will be a better player than JJ. Do you need both ?

I am not opposed to trading JJ though I think he is part of my “Core 4.” But not trading him for Love.

Why do people keep saying shooting is the easiest skill to improve When we have never seen a Sun in the last 10 years improved from a bad shooter to a decent one?

I'm not opposed to trading for Love. I think Ayton's D will end up a lot better than many think and thus Love can be a good fit, but to answer your question, you absolutely need both. You need versatility at many positions, and they can both play together frequently. If we're moving JJ it needs to be a part of a larger package to get a Kawhi or Lillard type player. That is not Love. Also, rebounding is the least valuable major skill, so while it is great to get Love who is an elite rebounder, it isn't a game changer or anything.

Another factor here is that Love's numbers will probably explode now that he will be the focal point of the Cavs offense, and he's an FA soon so he will command crazy money if that happens. I still fail to see why we would trade any of our promising youngsters for an upcoming FA that we can rather easily create the space to sign by just trading Warren or stretching Knight.

He might, and the trade value might not be that far off based on how well JJ has played thus far, but Love and Ayton are both poor defenders overall, so I don't think it makes us better. He makes sense as a stretch 4 but it seems we already have guys that can shoot. I don't anticipate rebounding to be a problem when Ayton is playing. Perhaps a bit of a problem when he isn't in there.

I think if we were to put JJ on the block at some point it would be nice to get more of a premier asset not on the downside of career. But it goes back to what you have said before, how much trade value do our guys that haven't played particularly well have?

Ultimately, JJ probably needs a good training camp under Kokoskov and see how he progresses this season.
