Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
This is a great deal for Orlando, a good one for Phoenix and a necessary-but-still-WTF deal for the Wizards.
From Phoenix's perspective, it'll be nice to have a player in Gortat who has posted 10/12 PER36 behind Dwight Howard. He's got some range, which is great, he can PnR just fine and yeah, he defends. That's an awesome addition.
Carter replaces everything Richardson brought; probably won't be as good a set three-point shooter but this offense, this training staff, that PG? He'll do well. Hedo not being on the team is a plus, as well.
Nice.

RT @Gibby620: @paulcoro Pietrus or Childress odd man out in rotation? (Still Chill. Pietrus defends better & is a much better 3-pt shooter.)
paulcoro Paul Coro
RT @aka_MR_FANTASY: @paulcoro I liked your initial article but I am still wondering ... Will Nash be traded ? Will Gortat start? (No & no)
Why did we get Chilly in the first place!? Can anyone explain this?
Too bad because I really liked what he brings.

Unless he can play pf, probably not. I think we turn our sights to Randolph/Horford.

oops, someone beat me to it

SHAZAM!
Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Carter and Pietrus look to bolster our' perimeter scoring and defense anyway.

Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
Love love LOVE this trade. Hedo was absolutely killing us, and was only going to get worse with that horrible contract. Vince is as bad as everyone says, but remember, he's an expiring. This deal was tremendous because it did 2 good things:
1.) Corrected the Hedo mistake by basically swapping his deal for Vince's expiring. This was not about getting Vince, it was about getting rid of Hedo's deal. The Suns were financially hamstrung as soon as they acquired Hedo, and now they're not. Phoenix has consistently shown itself to be a solid free agent destination, especially as long as Nash is still around. Cap flexibility is huge when you have the ability to sign good players without necessarily overpaying.
2.) Actually got us some positive assets as well. I've loved the idea of Gortat on the Suns for a while. I think he & Fropez will be a great combo. Fropez hasn't really shown he can handle more than maybe 30 minutes a game, and Gortat should be a great backup. Hopefully Gortat's happy about this, because his PT should go up without having to sit behind Dwight. Plus the Suns got a pick. Not a good pick, sure, but not bad. It's nice to have extra picks. It'll be interesting to see whether the Suns really wanted Pietrus or if he was just a cap throw-in to make the numbers work. On paper, he seems like a great fit next to Nash, and he's actually more of a 2 than a 3, unlike the rest of our wings.
Unfortunately, to make all that happen, we had to give up J-Rich, which is a bummer. He's been so good the last 2 years that I'm really sad to see him go. But at least he's going to a really good team that's fun to watch, and he gets to play with Dwight Howard. Best of luck to Jason.
Oh, I guess the other downside is that Vince Carter is now our starting 2-guard? Whatever, he's good in the regular season and against non-physical teams. He'll help us win a few games.
And yeah, this trade didn't fix all the Suns' problems, but so what? It got us a lot closer to where we want to be. I think it makes the team a little better in the short term, but it GREATLY improves the long-term prospects. Sure, we still have too many wings, and probably 1 of Hill, Dudley, or Childress needs to be moved (unless Chilly stays on the bench all year), but we're in okay shape for now. I think we'll see a lot more of Frye playing the 4, but with the 5 been the screen-and-roll man, which will keep 3 shooters outside the arc.
So happy!!

This might not be the last Suns deal either. They're still working other avenues. With this trade, they have just as many wings as before.
Let's all pray.
VC and Suns' 1st for Iggy; Orl 1st and Warrick for Randolph and filler
Nash/Dragic
Iggy/Duds
Hill/Chill
Randolph/Frye
Lopez/Gortat
Rebuilding complete
I'd put Iggy at SF when Hill's gone and start Peaches at SG. With Randolph, Lopez, Peaches and Iggy is sick defensively.

He's quite fond of our system so he won't put up as many points as he did here, BUT he's a good shooter and athletic as heck. Bit low IQ'ed on the court tho.

Lots of 3s. Some good highlights.
He was doing great this seaason, except for a few games when he went completely cold, specially without Nash...so I'm not sure. I think he is definitely an upgrade over VC.

Re: *MERGED* Done Deal. Goodbye Jrich/Hedo/Clark
Wow, just shocked to wake up to see this trade. Almost the same reaction as when we got Shaq, except happy.
Before I say anything about the trade, I just want to give JRich a shout out. I'll really miss the guy, he was awesome and having a great year. I'm sad to see him go and I wish him nothing but the best!
From an emotional point of view, I'm a bit upset, but my basketball sense tells me that this was a great trade for us. Simply put, we had to do something. The current squad had impossible rotations to work out, and we needed to get bigger. I tend to dislike VC but I think he still has some quality playing time left in his career. I'm a bit skeptical about how he'll play next to Steve Nash, and I wouldn't be surprised if we made another trade involving him, but if he stays I'm sure we can make it work. Getting Gortat is just epic for us! We actually have a solid frontcourt now!!! I'm ecstatic because I think he is exactly what we needed in a center. Good rebounder and defensive presense, and on offense Nash can just spoon feed the guy. Athletic bigs + Steve Nash = success! I like Pietrus aswell. I don't know how many minutes we can give the guy, and the rotation is still going to be a bit tricky, but I remember what a good job he did on Lebron a couple seasons back in playoffs and I think he could be useful for us. 1st rounder and cash??? icing on the cake!
I'm not gonna make any predictions, but I think we should get better after we work out the kinks. This fixes up some of our most glaring problems...can't wait to watch the first game!

Which Randolph?Zach has been playing well, but he is an arse.
lol, probably both. We could flip Orlando's 1st for AR or maybe a wing and a 1st for Zach who we could lock up long term for half of what Amare got.

OK Suns fans, your training staff is known for rebuilding injury prone guys. Do you think it can happen with Vince ? If his body is healed to a degree to where he can function again, then I like the pick up.

Oh stop. He's got Steve Nash spoon feeding him while the training staff fixes his bionic knees. If he's productive, he's self-confident.
