Cool, not sure why Monty couldn't/didn't just say that last night. Good move because as I stated earlier he needs reps and live game action. Unlike years past this suns team arent in a position just to play him to develop.

Maybe it's due to needing to finalize which team he'd be going to since the Suns no longer have their own team?

Maybe. One note the suns do still technically have a Gleague team, that sale doesn't go into effect until after this year. But they didn't send them to the bubble so it's basically like they don't have one.

Going forward when the Gleague returns to normal next year this is how the suns can still utilize it by sending their guys to other teams.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

I guess it's a bigger deal this year than in years past, due to the bubble format. I'm guessing Jalen's very disappointed, but the truth is he's just not ready for meaningful minutes. I think there are plenty of teams with which he would get some burn. We're just not one of them.

P.S. Tyshon's kicked butt so far in his two G League games, which is a great sign. Hopefully Jalen impresses as well.

I think it's important to keep in mind the way we manage rookies this season in particular is going to be different than in the previous decade. For once, regardless of how talented or how ready (or not) a rookie may be, they aren't just going to be given minutes just on the fact that they are rookies. Unlike past years, we're not fielded by a team of young guys, we're not trying to "see what we have" in the young guys and we're obviously not putting rookie development over potential home court advantage in the playoffs.

Sending rookies to the G-League is something the Suns have often refused to do in the past even when players probably should be there but it's something a lot of good teams do because they can't find minutes for the rooks on the team.

I'm sure he'd rather play in the G league than sit on the bench. It will be nice to see how he does. Are these games available anywhere, like on youtube?

NBA TV airs them every once in awhile. I think they had a game with Kuminga Vs Jalen Green last week sometime. IDK much about the one that he got sent to.

Interesting...ESPN+and the Ohio Fox Sports..so probably streams. I may have to look into ESPN+ just to get extra games at this point and access to some of their insider stuff with the advanced NBA and NFL draft articles.

Just realized Zach Lowe's "10 Things" is now also ESPN+

He won't crack the rotation this year, but he'll have a chance next year given that both Galloway and Moore are on 1 year deals. There's also the possibility that he could make Carter expendable some way down the line. I love Carter's infectious D, but he's been almost unplayable on offense this year with his shot not falling at all. I'm wondering now if we didn't overpay him giving him almost 4 million a year. In any case, Carter's contract is the sort that could come into play if we're making a trade somewhere down the line, and that's where someone like Ty-shon could really get the opportunity.

Lots of teams have found some really nice rotation pieces out of late 2nd rounders or undrafted rookies, so I hope that we explore this avenue thoroughly as well. Player development is something we need to emphasize to build a good long-term winning culture.

Yeah, I thought Carter would get a minimum at most. He would be a nice minimum guy to round out a deep roster but not a guy that takes up more space than that. I know some thinks he was well worth it.

I think Ty-Shon may have a chance as our future PG if he can convert, but could be nice next to Booker as a guy who can play on/off. I know those who watched him in college are very high on him. One guy came to our board after the draft and said he thought he was better than Anthony Edwards coming out.

I think he may end up giving Payne some competition at the PG spot (though we will need to re-sign Payne before that). I think Payne should get kind of a Carter deal, though being that I think Carter should have gotten the minimum, that's basically saying Payne should get more than that. I'd outbid other teams for him, unless it gets up over something like 3/17, but I don't think many teams need PGs and there are a bunch in the draft...I might try and give him a prove it contract, like 2/11 with a team option.

I think we need to watch our space for the 2022 offseason and think we should have only signed Crowder and Carter to 2 year deals to expire when Paul does...though maybe that would prevented us getting Crowder.

It would be nice to have that Payne 2 year with a team option in 2nd so next year we could let Ty-Shon compete against him.

I do also think Payne might take a little less to stay with us due to him liking it here, us giving him a chance, and if we are the only team to give him an offer, he might jump at even a small one after also making decent money on a couple years on his rookie deal and then not making too much at all the last few year...making $2-3 million a year or so, for anyone, is a nice chunk of change.

I think Carter is a given at this point to be included in a trade somewhere down the line. We overpaid him based on his bubble performance. But it isn't a crushing mistake. I think we'll get a pretty good feel next offseason when we have a summer league to see where guys like Ty-Shon and Smith are at in terms of development.

To be fair, though, he played far more minutes in the bubble than he's played so far this season, so... sample size, amirite?

Wouldn't shock me at all if Jevon doesn't play the whole season and then gives us a 17 points and three steals performance out of nowhere in the playoffs.

I'm not worried about Jevon or his contract. He's a third stringer who adds value to the locker room and in practice. And who knows? Solid chance that by the time a spot again opens up for him in the rotation, he'll have found his shot. $3.5 mil per is a steal for Bubble Jevon.

Yeah, he just needs to get reps. It's not a death sentence by any means. Build that confidence, build that conditioning, come back later this year or next season ready to contribute.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Maybe he can come back and take Jones' spot.

A couple of them are hitting 3s, and one where he rebounds and takes it all the way down the court and then finds the open guy.

Here is another good one.

And were people saying he couldn't guard people because of his hips?

Glad he's getting reps, he still has a lot of offer in the next couple years.

I wonder how our team from a few years ago would have done in the G league. Probably at least middle of the pack.

Didn't mean we send every young guy down there but Bender, Chriss nor Jackson ever spent a single day in the G-League until they were off the team. We were the G-League team
