Re: Suns Offseason Thread V: I Am My Brother's Kieffer
I have been to a lot of Suns games over the past 40+ years. Last night was the loudest crowd in the arena I have ever heard. Gotta get Garth Brooks to replace the gorilla.

Garth is old, think he had previous knee issues, cold be a big risk. If our trainers sign off on him, I'm down. Lol

bwgood77 wrote:The Pacers are not trading George. It would be like if we had traded Amare in late 2006 for a couple of unproven young guys. Except George was MUCH more of a key component than Amare was...Amare was important, but it was evident the system was the most important factor (and Nash/good shooters). But George made a big difference. The fan base for us would have revolted had we traded Amare then and we never would have...not for what most would consider unproven guys....Simmons trade value column before Amare was out had him top 5 or maybe in like the top 2..it was very high. People thought he was the next big thing. And Paul George is a better two way player who fits into today's nba.
I can understand why someone would be vested in Warren and Booker, because I am, but the discussion is pretty pointless....more pointless than the old Horford and Cousins nonstop trade talk because these are all guys that are not all going to be traded. Indiana is desperate to compete....their owner and GM are non tank guys too so George is going nowhere, and the talk about him not wanting to play PF is overblown and taken out of context.
The Pacers might trade George when he asks for that, as he is playing PF after an injury recovery.
He is a SF that needs ball touches and now he is playing the PF position.
He is able to defend LBJ more or less, but he is not a player that can defend PFs on a regular basis.
He could finally ask for a trade and then many teams in the league will offer almost anything they have in their rosters to get him.
If that scenarios finally happens, we should offer any player but Len and any pick the Pacers may want. Just that simple. Picks are there to select good players, but you have a toll of 3/4/5 years of player developement. And many of the picks do not translate into good players. Much less into stars as George. So future picks do not matter when you can get a player like that, unless you have a great possibility of ringing the #1 pick of that year's draft and there is someone called Melo, LBJ, Shaq, Tim or KD on the board...
George, Len and the rest of the guys that were kept make us contenders or near contenders, as we would be needing some retooling to get a deep roster.
Knight
Weems
George
Leuer
Len
-----
Price
Booker/Goodwin (the one that is not gone)
Jefferson
Tucker
Teletovic
XXX
It does not mean I do not trust Warren or Goodwin or Booker, and it does not mean I do not think they will become good players. But when a possibility as this one appears, one need to take advantage of it.

PG is not getting traded. Even if he got really ticked off about playing PF, Larry Bird and the coaching staff would promise him he'd never have to do that on a regular basis before they ever trade him. Bird and Vogel aren't idiots.

Pistons fans seem to love Bullock.. Did you guys ever see anything in him? just curious.. He's looked good but it's preseason. He defends well though, that should translate.

We knew that he was a good player but Hornacek couldn't find minutes for him. I remember that me and other fans liked when Bullock came to Suns but there was a logjam in SG-SF last season.

Yeah, I didn't like getting rid of Bullock. I thought he had potential and we could have used him if we end up trading PJ.

Ugh it's so freaking sad that we have to think five freaking years back to think of the last time this team was even a playoff team.
Really wish/hope they end this drought this year and get in somehow so can finally watch some relevent basketball in late April/May.
There are plenty of franchises that would envy the winning record the Suns have. Don't take it for granted, this team is lucky to have been as good as they were over the last 10 years.
I say this because sometimes the negativity around here can come off as crazy entitlement. Despite how bad this team has been by its own standards, those standards are bloody high and we shouldn't be as hard on every one and thing this organisation does.
My first season as a Suns fan was the 25 win season, I don't even know what playoffs look like for the Suns. But I love this team and what they're doing. If ya don't, I guess there's a bandwagon somewhere to join so ya can feel the winning ways again (I'm not talking directly to you SF).
Those are my 2 cents.
In this day and age, I don't know how many people care about winning records as much as they do winning championships.
The Clippers have been a contender for 4-5 years or more now and yet their fans are still complaining often on their forum because despite the winning records they've had, its amounted to zero championships.
Same thing with the Cavs who have been in a contender for like the last 8 of the last 12 years and yet their fans aren't happy because they have zero championships. They had great winning records but nobody really cares.
I guess if having a winning record is all that matters to ya and not winning a championship than that speaks volumes about your mentality (I'm not talking directly to you batsmasher).

Yeah, I kinda wanted Bullock instead of PJ because he has much more potential. When we acquired Bullock it felt like another potential fleece. In fact, I'm kind of confused as to why the FO is so high on Tucker who is 30 years old and has infractions of DUI and missing the team flight. He hasn't really showed much leadership and he really only shoots the corner 3. I mean, he's not bad but he doesn't fit the age bracket and by the end of last season (at least imo), Warren was already an equal or better player.

30 years isn't that old. For some players that is torward the end of their prime years.

No where in your post did you mention his defense

I liked Bullock too but had we kept him, he would either be riding the pine or battling TJ for minutes. So either we trade PJ and try to develop 2 young players in the same position at the same time or we trade Bullock and let TJ pick up uncontested back up minutes and get our full development attention.

I thought we could have at least gotten a 2nd rounder for Bullock.

He only got garbage time but he shot really poorly with us.

I thought Bullock would do well after his D-League minutes, but there just wasn't room in the rotation after everyone healthy.
Side note, man I can't believe Flip died.

After reading the article Saberestar posted, I can see why the FO is high on Tucker. http://www.azcentral.com/story/sports/nba/suns/2015/10/24/boivin-suns-should-take-tucker-personality-pj-nba-warren-small-forward-phoenix-dui-bledsoe-markieff-morris-tyson-chandler/74499824/
The team also found it had a player with a strong voice, one that often eggs on his fellow Suns on the court.
“Sometimes we have to tell him to not talk so much when it’s his own teammates,” Hornacek said, laughing. “You don’t want to break their confidence.”
His teammates love it/hate it.
“In preseason workouts, when I wasn’t around, everybody was texting me, ‘Where you at? When you coming back? It’s not the same when you’re not here because nobody’s talking,’ " Tucker said. “Because I would talk just to get under their skin a little bit, to make them play harder to push me, to make me go harder.”
Tucker is excited about the group the Suns will put on the floor when they open the season against Dallas Wednesday at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
