McDonough was running his mouth again today.
Man I wish that guy would STFU. He's making this franchise look bad by beefing with players thru the media, especially over issues he created himself.

“If a player makes a mistake because he’s being too aggressive on the court and playing hard, that’s fine, we can live with that,” he said. “If players don’t play as well or make mistakes because they’re being a little more selfish and not as concerned about the team success, then that’s something we have a hard time with. I think the message was pretty simple. Anybody that buys into our culture, does what it takes to win and sacrifices for the team, will be here, hopefully for a long time.
“The guys that are more worried about other things and their top priority is not winning basketball games, then we’ll get rid of them. We have no problem doing that.” …
“Despite all the changes and the turmoil, we’re two games out of the eighth spot right now. We’re going to see what we can do. Since we made the moves, the vibe around our team is better. The players have more energy. I feel good about our direction.”

Sounds like what he has already said recently. Where are you getting those quotes from?

I like this McD style. Clean little bitches out and try to find team come first players. We need guys like Parker and Nowitzki who take less money than they worth to win something special as a team. Markieff already take less, let see which guy Knight is. Winner or loser.

He said those first two paragraphs on Friday. What makes you upset about that statement?

It sounds like McD wants to replicate the Spurs culture. Everybody buys in for one goal. I like it. I think it will be successful once we get rid of our garbage coach that loves hero ball and doesn't care about defense.

I LOVE McD.
I don't get why people are so pissed about those words. Dragic was my favorite player until a week ago, but he acted like a selfish bitch and threw the team under the bus for his own good. I really thought he was a team-first guy, but apparently not.
I stand by McD and Babby and any statement that has been made since friday. They handled a lot of **** during DragonGate, and the situation could've been much worse.

Our GM's strength is scouting. Any first is a great pick.
The fact that our GM's strength is scouting makes trading away a promising pick hurt even more. The Lakers will be terrible for a long time coming, basically every team in the West right now is better and with more young talent than them.
It's the Lakers, they won't be down for long. Almost every game they go to has more Laker fans than opposing team fans, having the crowd often sways the game a bit. The league loves the Lakers. Back when the league was struggling, they leaned heavily on the Lakers and the Celtics. If the league feels having the Lakers in the playoffs is better for the league in general, they will do their best to get them in, like the year we had their pick last time.
They received some of the total bull calls, phantom fouls. They even said they made a mistake on not calling the Kobe foul on Rubio in the last second shot. Did they go back and give Rubio three free throws to possibly win that game for the Wolves....nope, just an oops, we goofed. The league is a joke, and the Lakers are one of their top jesters. They won't be down for long.
The question is will they be out of the lottery next year? I highly doubt it. Which is why I think it was a mistake to move that LA pick. At worst, it would have been a late lotto pick and at best, it may have been a #4 pick.
They won't be down long but they certainly can't make a 30 win turn around in one off-season while old-ass Kobe is still on the roster.

It will almost certainly be a lotto pick next year. It might even be protected. But we got an 8th overall pick who has gotten better every year in the league and almost made the all star game this year.
Even if it is a lottery pick next year, there is a 50/50 chance that pick is a bust, and there is probably only about a 5-10% chance it turns out to be a player that nearly makes an all star team on his rookie contract.
I didn't like trading the pick, but there is no guarantee the player who is selected with that pick is going to be better than Knight, and there is only a slim chance that the player will be better, and even if they are, it would take quite a while to get there.

Yeah, he's looking a little childish. It's nice he has his fanboys here who believe every word he says. I like the guy and think overall he's done well, but he certainly has made some mistakes the past year. Overall I'm happy with him.
I noticed it appears the majority isn't believing what he's trying to sell if you look at some of the comments in the article and the likes on them....but he is winning over a good portion of the fans here painting things the way he is. Some of the comments...
McDonough doth protest too much…we see what he’s trying to sell and nobody is buying.
Instead of adopting this we’re better without them narrative, he should simply state it didn’t work out and they’re moving on. That’s far more believable than his current shtick.
This guy has a good point too...
I wonder if McD would continue to work happily with the other GMs.Maybe this offseason the Sun’s should try signing a couple more GM’s to their roster.
Again, I like McD but some of those comments are funny and/or brutal. He's not making himself look too good. Time to move on.

I'm not sold on Knight and we're going to be paying a lot to retain him as well.
Regarding the draft, McD, in my mind, has already struck gold with his last #5 pick so I would be confident giving him the benefit of the doubt with another #5 pick.

I agree he struck gold which is why I think if he felt it was worth cashing in that pick on Knight, I believe he must really like Knight, and I trust his eye for talent.
His only misstep so far is the IT signing and fallout, but obviously we all know he had bigger plans than that for the offseason.
But you could be right about Knight. Hopefully it isn't LIKE the IT signing in that he felt he had to do something and add SOMEONE after trading Dragic, so he just traded for who he could, kind of like signing who was left after not getting a star this summer.
I don't think so though. I like Knight, so I'm hopeful he'll turn into a very productive player for us.

I love McD and think he has been one of the best gms in the league in the last two years. Hate hornacek. The difference between winning and losing can easily be a good coach. Look at Spurs, Atlanta, Milwaukee. I would love to get thibs or any hard nosed coach who can put players in their places when needed. Harnacek doesn't have that imo.

I love McDonough, but trading away the Lakers pick was so dumb. No one will convince me otherwise.

The "Hornacek is the problem" thread is down a few threads from this one.

Knight can't even convince you?
