Man would it be exciting for the Suns to be in the Orlando NBA playoffs tournament thing that their doing.

I don’t think the Suns will get destroyed by any team if we’re fully healthy (which we should be).

I hope Ayton hasn’t been back on the roids during this time off because it’s almost guaranteed that all players will be drug tested before the league starts up again.

When Thursday comes, we should have a new thread. It may as well be the start of a new season :)

Goodnight everyone.

So a 22 team condensed regular season from current standings to determine 1-16 playoffs with six teams missing out?

If Ayton gets another suspension I would trade him/not resign him. Everyone makes mistakes and deserves a second chance but twice in 1 year would just be awful

So from the looks of it the suns will play 8 regular season games then if they are the 9 seed after those 8 games there would be a play in for the 8 spot.

Slim odds the suns actually get a playoff shot. This will be a good evaluation period, this will be a short and weird off-season so if this group performs they might not make a ton of changes this off-season. I think continuity will be an advantage next year.

My question is do the records carry over or is it a fresh record? If records carry over, Memphis only has to win 2 games in their remaining 8 games and the Suns are out.

Yeah records will carry over. Not only would Memphis knock them out with 2 wins but the suns would also have to pass over all the other teams in the west ahead of them and get to 9 to play in the play in game.

Basically there's no realistic chance the suns make the playoffs, this will be more of an evaluation period for them. Which is fine because at 13 games under 500 they don't belong in the playoffs.

That's awesome that we get a minimum of 8 more Suns games! It will be super tough to make the playoffs though. I imagine we'd need to win about all 8 of our games and have the teams above us almost lose half. Not sure if that's even possible, but we'd have to see a schedule to see.

I'm hoping that we get to see a really competitive and HEALTHY team. I want all of our guys to go as hard as they can (though, I'm hoping there are some practice games before the 8 regular season ones, or else it would be dangerous and really hard to ramp up so quickly).

Hope Booker and Ayton have been doing more than just playing fortnite with the time off.

With 2 wins the Grizzlies would knock us out from finishing 8th, but we still would have a chance to finish 9th and make the play-in game.

Obviously the problem would be finishing within 4 games of Memphis AND ahead of all the other teams that are currently 9th-12th in the West.

For that single elimination talk, I wonder if it means if more than one team finishes 4 or less games out of the 8th seed, they have single elimination against each other. THEN they play Memphis for the 8th spot.

If not, it kinda stinks because the chances of getting in are so minute. But in the end, I won't complain. As has been stated, we don't belong there anyway. So we should be happy that we'll see our full squad play a 8 games. This will give us an idea of how to approach the off season.

My understanding is it will just be 8 vs 9 even if more than just the 9 seed are within 4 games.

It is a good opportunity for this group to play together, assess what they want to do in the off-season and not have 9 whole months of off time. Could help getting off to a good start next season and make a real playoff run.

I thought they were going to do a tourney style with all teams 8 and back. This is a bit of a bummer for us. Not much of a chance but at least we'll get to watch some Suns basketball again.

You're right. It's double elimination for the 9th seed. Meaning they have to beat the 8th seed twice to advance.
The 8th see just needs to win 1 of 2 to advance.
Sucks for us, but I like it.

I'd still be curious how they handle it if 2 teams are tied for the 9th seed.

Wonder what tiebreaker they'll use if teams are tied for 9th

That should be a mini tourney depending on who is left.

2 teams, then let them play each other.
3 teams is where it starts getting tricky
