You do know that we are starting in a week right? We are already behind schedule. At the 12 hour pace there is literally zero chance we would finish in one week.

If anybody gets skipped at this point deep in the player pool and says "oh man if only I had drafted my secret guy I know is going to be a star..." they are lying that they "knew" that guy was becoming a star. They might "like" a guy but it's all opinion and giving a good guess.

And if you really want that player then PM a fellow leaguemate or myself, bwgood, qwigglez, bigfoot, TASTIC, who are all very active etc. to make the pick for you!

Come on, no reason for these smirky comments. You were well aware as well, when setting up the starting day how much time we would have. We were waiting whole day for a pick yet, with a clock change that was overnight for us now we're getting flak.

Yea i agree, the 12 hour pace is really long, but it doesnt change the fact that i have been waiting a whole day for 3-4 picks before me, with a 12 hour gab, and then suddenly all stars aline and its me who loses his pick. Also, my comment did not pointing out someone, just a fact check.

Irrelevant, the order has a meaning. Its not going to be the end of the world, but you know, we do make trades for a pick sooner in the draft

There were 5-6 picks before me when it was night time here, an ofc all of theses were made in an instant and i was the only one losing to this change.

It's not smirky - we have to meet the deadline - that's the bottom line. We've had several weeks of check in, alerts about the new rules, several long-form posts about all the new changes this year, and we had people checking in late until the absolute deadline. Sorry for the serious tone, but that's my thought process behind why it's a decision that has to be done.

It sucks if you get skipped, I get it - but I'm telling you why it's not that big of a deal based on when you actually do the simple math of how deep we are into the player pool (16 total teams x ~9 players per roster) = 144 + players deep. That's the level of prospects we're picking from - we're not drafting players that are even close to sure things. The difference between players also will continue to get smaller and smaller as the rounds progress.

There is always a process behind the decisions I make and I don't make them arbitrarily. And I do them in light of the actual kind of league we're trying to run here - something that works for everyone and doesn't require people to be glued to their phone. That means we want to start "on time".

You can also read page 1 draft rules regarding time restraints
Spoiler:
Draft Rules:
-You may make trades any time during the draft
-You may change your pick provided the next person has not drafted yet. Once the person after you has drafted, you cannot change your pick
-You have 24 hours once your pick is on the clock, but please be aware that we are close to the season start and this may be shortened if necessary.
-If you feel you cannot make your pick on time, feel free to PM bwgood77, Qwigglez, TASTIC, bigfoot or I with your ranked short list so we can pick for you
-If you do not make your pick within 24 hours, the next manager is on the clock and may make their pick. You may make your pick for that skipped pick at any time but you cannot choose a player already taken
-commissioner reserves right to shorten clock based on time restraints

What I can say is that in the future if this scenario comes up I will grant extra time for those at the top of the board when we change the length of the draft clock so they're not blindsided

Alright well my heads cooled off I think I could have handled that better by just giving a bit more time/warning to Terovibe. Might be heading into my 5th year as commish here but this is the only league I've ever been commissioner as so I''ll try to learn from this.

Also a heads up I just identified a bit of a loophole in the rule about draft pick trades: I know the rules forbid trading/swapping picks in rounds 6-8 (the extra rounds) but the truth is there isn't anything stopping any of us from agreeing to simply draft players for each other and then trade them after they've been drafted.

Which is hilarious. But in any case I can't actually disallow teams from doing this kind of wink-wink deal.

Since I found the loophole and am commish, to avoid gaining an advantage I won't be using it until somebody else uses it, or at least for a few days. Or maybe I just won't use it at all. You guys can. In any case it's kind of a hilarious find. Bit of an oops on my part but yeah.

I'll take Beal
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.
