Pretty much exactly what i have been saying i believe will happen. We will come out of the draft with Ayton and Kemba (And whoever we draft @ #31) but will still have a need for a PF in FA.

The PF is coming with Kemba from Charlotte as Mitch rebuilds - you know the name (wink wink)

I think the Suns would be able to re-sign him should it come to it. He’s never played with a scorer like Booker and would have a pick & roll/pop guy with Ayton. However based on what they were asking for him at the deadline it would take more than #16. Also I wouldn’t give him a Conley-type extension.

I feel like the timing is interesting here. I imagine if Pop couldn't convince Leonard to stay, they'll look for a trade centered around draft pick(s)...maybe I obviously don't really know

He isnt staying.

Kawhi Leonard has privately maintained that he no longer wants to play for the San Antonio Spurs and will eventually alert rival teams that his intentions are to sign in Los Angeles when he becomes a free agent in 2019.

Leonard would prefer to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers over the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Spurs are unlikely to be motivated to trade Leonard to the Lakers.

Leonard had told confidants that he did not want to sit down with Popovich and has been purposely difficult for the Spurs to reach recently.

Leonard is angry over how the Spurs handled his quad rehab and is irate with public comments made by Tony Parker.

San Antonio has been prioritizing working through the issues with Leonard, but they have encouraged rival teams to present an offer if they so choose. The Spurs, however, have been reluctant to give teams guidance on what type of trade package they are seeking.

Dang for a guy who is legit the best defender in the league (well, maybe 'was', i don't know his health status now), he is one soft dude.

It'll be interesting to see where he ends up. Most likely a one year rental for anyone other than the Lakers. I wonder what the return will be like for him

I do wonder if we had a different owner if we would have a shot at Kawhi and LeBron.

Pop HATES Sarver probably even more than the Lakers. I can't see him sending Kawhi here without the #1 attached.

LeBron has ZERO respect for Sarver stemming from his positions during the CBA negotiations. But Jones is here now.

If the Suns flipped #1 for Kawhi, how likely is it LeBron signs in Phoenix? +600? +300? Do the Suns become the favorite? I wonder. I DON'T WANT TO DO IT! Just wonder.

Kawhi wants out of SA. So, get nothing, the Laker's garbage, or Josh Jackson (who I know they like) + picks and expiring contracts.

Suns don't trade the #1 (Ayton) or Booker, but I would be willing to trade Josh Jackson and picks for Kawhi if it was a piece needed to entice LeBron to sign.

It is enticing. Not having to give up #1 for Leonard would be the favorable way to do it, but it's still gambling quite a bit. Of course, there is no way to know for sure if LeBron would follow. If Kawhi resigned and professed his love for PHX, this would be a bit different. I'd also want OUR training staff to check him out. I trust our evaluation of his quad over anyone else's.

Still, it is too big of a risk. He gets traded here, claims he is still injured, doesn't play the entire year, and then bolts to LA in free agency. He's sat out a season before. It almost makes him impossible to trade for.

definitely, due-dilegence would need to be done prior to any trade. Also, James Jone's people would need to talk to Lebron's people to find out his preferences.

Return to Phoenix Suns
