Though I think a lot of people are undervaluing the fact LMA is 30 years old with a history of a few odd injuries (heart palpitations for one). Could a guaranteed 5th year maximum deal sway him into staying? Maybe. But, I still think he rolls the dice on a team that can contend right away. With all due respect to you PHX fans, as I have no axe to grind around these parts, not sure how PHX can make a better case than San Antonio.
Thanks for your input. However the Spurs are not contenders in the long-term. Once Duncan/Popovich retire Ginobli won't be too far behind. Parker might stick around however their role players will not make a difference. That will pretty much be a rebuild with Parker finishing up his final years (i.e. no play-offs)
Does LMA really want to rebuild that quickly? I just don't see the Spurs winning a title in the next few seasons. SUNS are a darkhorse and can give him long-term stability with a chance to get far in the play-offs. Sky is the limit in Phoenix.
Are you saying that the Spurs next year with LMA aren't a contender? LMA can sign a 2 year deal and see how it plays out. That is really the question here for any destination not named PDX. If we're comparing the Spurs to the Suns, then you'd have to argue that the Suns are better with LMA next year than the Spurs would be with LMA. If that is your belief, then I am not about to try and convince you otherwise. Its LMA that needs convincing.
But what about 2 years from now? 3 years? They have a 33 year old PG, a 39 year old PF, a 37 year old 6th man, Kawhi (solid piece) and Danny Green (role player).

Yea this was discussed in length yesterday.
I'll take it seriously when Woj and friends start actually talking about his tweet.
IMO if he chose the spurs, we would know his answer after the Knicks meeting (and no second round interviews), so we'll see.

When this goes down, will there still be something to turn to? West is kinda out of reach, and now that Sap stays in ATL i'm struggling to see why would Magic let Tobias slip from their hands... Could something be done with Jazz, Favors maybe?

Re: Suns Offseason Thread 2: The Hunt for a Blazer Continues!
From what I've heard, the Suns have a real shot at getting LMA..
the biggest draw from the Suns in LMA mind is..
1) doesn't have to play center with us (Chandler & Len). Meanwhile in SA he's going to to play a lot of C.
2) the Suns have a younger rosters than San Antonio.
3) makes history instead of being a part of history..
4) LMA will still get his numbers with us.
It's a lot closer than Everyone thinks.. The only concern with the Suns about LMA choosing SA, it's his child living in tx.
The plot thickens..

I also forgot to mention, Suns window is bigger than SA.. Duncan, Manu and Parker can't play for ever.. Or will they??

Thanks ray ray! Good to see you back again!
I saw a few of those points in Gambo's tweet but haven't heard about 'us being younger' as a selling point (although i'd think that would a no brainer).
Can you comment on these random reports that come out ('DPick' - whoever that is). Do you buy that they have any legs?

Re: Suns Offseason Thread 2: The Hunt for a Blazer Continues!
Dan Leroux made a really great point on the most recent Dunc'd On podcast. Sure McD has made a few mistakes but what is really good is he isn't afraid at all to rectify them, immediately.
That's what's going to pull this team out of mediocrity, that quick decision making and no keeping players just because you don't want to admit you were wrong.
He got rid of Beas quick. He moved on from IT and Dragic quick. Decisiveness is crucial in making positive inroads, and McD has an abundance of it.

David Aldridge @daldridgetnt · 5m5 minutes ago
Raptors did well in meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge, but it is unlikely he picks the Raptors, per source.

Re: Suns Offseason Thread 2: The Hunt for a Blazer Continues!
After reading through this - lets get to the facts - if LMA becomes a Suns player: Tucker, the Morris Twins and two of three are gone - Granger, Bullock and Goodwin
When Brandon Wright signed with Memphis over a possible S&T with the Mavericks - Suns lost both about 7m of cap space but the flexibility of doing a sign and trade
Second -- the 76ers taking on salary (actually a good trade for them, low cost, will improve) - that took away the Morris twins
There are still options for the Morris twins: Portland in an S&T for LMA with Tucker - that should do it; Haywood has not been traded yet - that's a possibility
I am not concerned about how they will get under the cap - because Ryan had to be prepared
I think he goes to the Spurs as I think he can win a championship next year with the Spurs probably easier than winning one for the Suns over the next five years. Granted, if the Spurs don't get it next year with LMA and Pop and Duncan leave, well, enjoy the money.
As for the poster who mentioned Mo Williams - I think he would be a perfect fit with or without LMA.
I just like that the Suns are in the game and if they don't get LMA - they will get somebody - maybe David West, maybe Gallinari
Lastly, I still expect the Morris Twins and possibly Tucker to be gone. Tucker not at that meeting yesterday was telling!

Hence, I think Suns have a deal with a team with the Morris twins pending Aldridge accepting the Suns offer.
I'm not sure why you guys think we can keep Tucker. We have to fit $33M of contracts into $13M of space right now. Even moving Goodwin, Bullock, & Leur, declining McNeal, waiving our cap holds and exceptions we don't get close by moving just the twins. And yes even if we sign Knight last which we have to do.

Who is currently the Blazers SF? If they lose LMA, they obviously need a PF. It seems the twins and Tucker would be good for them. It would be nice if we could keep Markieff though.

I am not even sure if Manu is back next year.
there are a lot of factors in play but if its about championships . I give the Spurs the advantage if talking about a 1-2 year window with Popovich, Duncan and Parker. And even with that, there is no guarantee - an injury could happen (gosh knows it has hit the Suns a few times, it hit Cleveland this year).
So, yes, if talking about the 2015-2016 season, probably going to SA is a better odds of winning a title
If talking the next four to five years. With players like Bledsoe, Knight, Len, Warren, Booker getting better, with LMA and Chandler - its the Suns.
The Suns are giving LMA a lot to think about

Arron Afflalo, #Knicks agree on 2-year, $16M deal
Good contract, NYK at least with a good SG on their roster now.

If you are the Blazers and you lose LMA - it would be stupid to not take the Morris Twins and Tucker an an S&T with draft picks. I think they signed a center (Ajinca?) and traded for Plumlee (PF) - they lost Batum, are losing Mathews - to that really frees up the need for bench depth and the forward position - both offense (the Morri) and defense (Tucker).
The trade is about the best the Blazers could hope for to rebuild quickly with decent contracts.
Olshey would be stupid to turn it down. Really. You signed Lillard for a lot of money - he HAS to take those players as Portland is not a free agent destination so would in essense, be wasting Lillard if he turned down the Sign and Trade. Add in Goodwin or Bullock ( as a Suns fan, I want to keep Granger more then Goodwin and Bullock. With Booker, he can shoot, they can't)
