Whatever happens, I just hope that Knight and Tucker aren't on this team after the trade deadline. I can't stand watching these guys play for the Suns any longer.

All I want is for McD to pull off a steal like the Lakers did when they got Gasol.

What about this trade...
Suns: Jimmy Butler / Nikola Mirotic

Bulls: TJ Warren / Marquis Chriss / Nikola Vucevic / PJ Tucker / 2018 Miami 1st / 2021 Miami 1st / 2018 Suns 1st

Magic: Brandon Knight

We get a star to play with our core group of guys. Mirotic can start at PF while Bender develops or come off the bench, he also spreads the floor for our guards, though he's terribly inefficient. We give up our future assets and also focus on developing Booker/Bender (and Len/Ulis).

I'm not saying it's not reasonable value but, hell no. I want no part of giving away assets in an effort to create a team that isn't good enough to threaten the top teams. Right now all we really have is the dream that one of our near future picks will hit big, if we make that deal we'll no longer have that dream. And I don't see how that team is as good as the one that got Thibs fired.

One of our priorities should absolutely be acquiring Smart/Bradley type of player (1/2 defensive stopper). Booker opens a huge hole on D when on court, and Bled (even if we view him as part of this rebuilding team for the next few years) is noticeably worse on that end of the floor. No need to add Knight or Barbosa in that discussion.

Do you find Len4Smart trade something smart (hehe) and realistic/feasible?

I actually think it's pretty terrible value relative to the Warren/Bender/MIA 2018 offer we got a week ago from a Bulls fan. The difference between Bender and Chriss is not two unprotected first round draft picks.

If the Bulls fan's offer was accepted, you'd have, essentially Butler instead of Warren at the cost of Bender. Butler for Warren straight up is a good deal because of the length of their respective contracts - Warren, essentially 5 more years, the last 4 of which are at close to market value, and Butler on 3 more years on a value contract. Is the difference between those two worth - for us - Marquese Chriss's 7 years? I'd say no, especially given that it's nearer the end of that contract when our squad enters its prime.

I think the majority on the board are with you Zelazny. We should be sellers, not buyers, at this time.

I think smart is available but im guessing the celtics will want to see if they can package him with other assets for an impact player. Chandler could really help their rebounding issues and tucker could be a fit too but its a little tricky finding deals with boston where the salaries and pieces make sense.

All I've heard is he's no longer with the Republic (Per Jon Bloom). I tried reaching out to him on twitter but he hasn't responded.
Even Bloomer has no idea what happened.

If Philly actually does want Knight, Bayless + Holmes + a pile of 2nds I think might do the trick. Holmes becomes a UFA at the end of his bargain deal. Trading him now is likely the best way for Philly to maximize his value. Bayless can rehab here at home any maybe be useful for a couple seasons down the road.

Yeah, bold is out of the question. But if they fail to bring that big impact player or the other side isn't interested in Smart (for example they'd much rather have Bradley), does that straight swap look any good? Boston's needs are clear (rebounding, especially def. and rim protection). Len fits pretty nice there. He's not elite, but they do not necessarily need an All-star center, just a man to do the job and save key assets for that other 'special' guy. Chandler is way older and in decline so i'm having trouble to see Boston's interest there - for real contenders in win now, this second mode (Cavs, Warriors, maybe Raptors) yes, certainly, but still growing, relatively young team like C's, no. Only problem with Len is that he's expiring, but it's not science fiction to assume that he'd have the interest to sign with the good playoff team like them.

From our point of view, problem lies in the fact that in that case we'd end up only with just one player at C (and 34 yo vet on top of that) and practically be forced to pull another trade for a young C (WCS for example).

Right there with you brother. Honestly, the worst thing we could do right now is trade away future picks especially any unprotected ones. We're almost halfway through the season. If you care about the future of this franchise you should hope they lose out. I know, it's blasphemy. I never root for them to lose games when I'm watching but getting a top 2 pick this year is imperative if we want to compete sometime this decade.

Don't know why people want that nut-punching flopper who can't shoot. The Suns are probably going to draft a PG, and even if they didn't they have Bledsoe and Ulis.

Ricky Rubio has a better TS%.

Interview with McDonough on KTAR: http://arizonasports.com/category/podcast_player/?a=328116&sid=1005&n=Burns+%26+Gambo

They ask him point blank about the fans wanting to see the kids play. I didn't particularly like the end of the interview where he basically said he's comfortable seeing Bender about a quarter a night (12 minutes.)

I'll take a quarter a night over what we've mostly got as of late, which is DNPs. Hopefully though, after a few more weeks, we have traded a couple of vets to clear out playing time in the rotation.

There's a bad rumor floating around about why he was let go. It's so bad that I couldn't bring myself to ask him about it. I don't think he would tell me even if it were true though. I hope it's not, but with his sudden dismissal and the way the paper didn't address it AT ALL I'm concerned. He's always been very cool to me and would say hi when he came to town with the team.

Also, Paola is definitely not Traxxe.

What is the bad rumor? I need to know.

Chandler + PJ for Kidd-Gilchrist, MKG is only 23 making 13m a year and could be very useful here

I suspect it's the same rumor I mentioned earlier in this thread (post #208). Hearsay, often a very unreliable source, suggests that he was caught on camera snooping after hours through the workstations of his colleagues.

The Kings are in the 8th spot.

A trade sending Bledsoe to the Kings is now more likely then the Kings sending Boogie here.

And I'm OK with that...for the right price.
