BBIQ, talent & experience, Doncic is miles ahead of Ayton at the moment in my opinion. Because Ayton hasn't even sniffed what it means to play pro ball. But potential is something that PHX will bank on i believe. And i think their mindset is that Ayton can bring more good to the franchise than anyone else.

Why was luka a 6th man for most of Real Madrid's season.

Miles?? Maybe experience wise. Watch Barcelona vs Real from Feb on youtube. Luka makes some nice passes but lets be honest, in the NBA he is not dribbling past any defenders without a screen being made. He settles wayyyyy to much on his step back three. His defense against other point guards and bigs is suspect.

Ayton doesn't have talent ???? He's the best college big man we have scene since AD at Kentucky.

Annnd Ayton would have been much better had Ristic not been cloggling the lane most of the time, if U of A had a good PG, and if they didn't play a **** motion offense.

Your statements beside the experience are all debatable

I believe the pick-n-roll (screen) is probably the most used offensive play in the NBA. If you think Doncic is all about ISO play making that is where your problem starts.

I might take Mo number 2. Thumbs up for his confidence, however:

I checked Doncic's FTA...and he averages 5 in under 30 minutes. Shoots 80%.

FG% is sub 45 and 3PT% is 31%.
Yet his TS% is over 57.

By eye test he is slow around defenders who are slow themselves compared to NBA But Doncic gets his shot up and in non highlight videos he gets fouled.... Again Just looking at how NBA guard defenders have morphed recently there is no way he gets around them.

But as a combo forward against the Bojan Bogdanovics, Sarics, Dudleys, Tuckers etc he may be able to get around them easier.

1. Suns (21-61): C Deandre Ayton, 7-0, 260, Arizona.
Nearly everyone around the league believes the Suns are drafting Ayton despite the hiring of Igor Kokoskov as coach and his obvious familiarity with Slovenian guard Luka Doncic. Their belief is justified. General Manager Ryan McDonough has said center is a “slightly higher” priority and NBA scouts have compared Ayton with Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid and Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns. At this point, if Ayton’s not the pick, it will be a real shocker.

16. Suns (21-61) via Heat: PG Aaron Holiday, 6-1, 185, UCLA.
After drafting Ayton, the Suns get their point guard. Holiday is starting to move up on draft boards. He shot 43 percent from 3-point range at UCLA, has great bloodlines and proved last season that, without Lonzo Ball, he could capably run an offense while getting his own points. The Suns can use Brandon Knight as a placeholder starter until Holiday is ready.

Holiday is such a wild card. One of his brothers is really good while the other one completely sucks. Hard to project how he ends up.

His wingspan is supposedly a cause for concern as well.

He has a 6'7.5'' wingspan which is good for a PG. I wouldn't consider him until the second round, though.

Bamba has Gobert written all over him. He will be a DPOY candidate in the NBA barring injuries. High basketball IQ and crazy good work ethic.

He got admission to Ivy League schools because of his grades and SAT scores but decided to pursue basketball instead.

Players like him with that type of work ethic and mentality will succeed.

I wouldn’t mind Bamba at #1 even thoug I doubt Suns have balls to do it. I think 2 years from now, strong chance that he ends up best player from this draft.

If we can trade down to get him and also somehow get Porter then I’d be so stoked with this draft.

Anyone
Booker
Jackson
Porter
Bamba

Would be such a fun lineup.

Ayton's defensive potential > Bamba's offensive potential

I know he's working on his shot but he still looks awkward with the ball in his hands.

I’ve always wanted Bamba. There’s something that tells me , that he will be best player in the draft. Suns should trade back to 3 and pick whoever is left.

JJJ is in between Ayton and Bamba.... In regards to offense and defense.

Bamba does project to be a double double based on his production and stats similar to players like Camby, Mutombo etc... He doesn't compare similarly to Gobert based on production in college and Europe that I've checked.

But then you look at Thabeet and he too projected to be a double double and monster defender in the NBA.... Its hard to gauge..

I think motor, drive and feel for the game matters a lot... And this is only assessable by eye test most of the times.....

The Suns will gauge using the interviews and workout for sure...

I’m starting to think it would’ve been better for us to actually drop to #2 or #3. No pressure to take the overhyped local kid Ayton and could’ve made the selection in peace.

I love Mo Bamba, if he ever masters his J that turn around J with his crazy wingspan will be as unstoppable as Rasheed Wallace's
I would definition take Bamba + Doncic over Ayton.

Mamba just doesnt move as well as Ayton for their size.

Bamba is a cartoon character length wise but mobility wise Ayton kills him IMO

It sounds like we're using our #1 this year to draft him over Ayton or Doncic. That's the only reason I can see spending so much tie talking about him in the Ayton vs Doncic Draft Thread.

Bamba had very low assist rate too...none of the bigs averaged much for assists, but he still only had about a third the number of Ayton or Jackson per 36.

We need more of a sure thing than Bamba out of this draft. He is very very raw, particularly on offense, too lean and gets pushed around, and will probably not be playable much of the time against smaller units.

He won’t be able to get Doncic then Ayton, but there’s a slight chance for the flip side

I’d also follow up an Ayton pick with an all in run at Julious Randle, regardless.

It’s going to be a fun day

He could. Kings are high on WCS and Hawks love Collins. Both teams already have bigs in place, they could prefer perimeter help instead and go with a Trae Young or Sexton or something.
