I'm not even kidding when I say Payne would be their best option.

Looking at the bright side, I wonder if this means we might be splitting the MLE and get two decent players instead of just Augustin.

Yeah, maybe...considering we must not have offered DJ more than that. I honestly was thinking anyone would rather live in Phx than Milwaukee. Silly me.

If we got R Jackson and Crowder for half the MLE each.....I wouldn't be mad at that. Maybe see if you can add Forbes for the BAE. That's a decent haul considering the assets we had. Heck, maybe we do those moves and then get Melo on a minimum deal.

Paul/Jackson/Payne
Book/Forbes/Carter
Mikal/Crowder/Nader
Cam/Saric/Melo
Ayton/Smith

That's a pretty damn good team.

Yes, I was just thinking I'd be ok with E'Twaun Moore and Wanamaker or maybe Reggie Jackson.

But I was thinking...guys like Jackson and Teague probably think they are worth at least the entire MLE. Moore is probably worth close to the MLE.

I guess I wouldn't mind E'Twaun Moore with the MLE for 2 years and Jordan McLaughlin. He might end up being the best option actually.

Napier is a possibility I guess and he did shoot 67% in the restricted area last year and almost 36% from 3. And there is this:

Spoiler:
Read on Twitter

Jordan McLaughlin though had really good numbers...ast/to ratio, 3pt%, 2pt%, stl

He's small though and Minnesota can match.

Point guards - Jeff Teague, Elfrid Payton, Yogi Ferrell, Quin Cook, Emmanuel Mudiay, Brad Wanamaker, Reggie Jackson

Off guards/Wings - Jae Crowder, E'Twaun Moore, KCP, Langston Galloway, Marco Belinelli, Bryn Forbes, Solomon Hill, Avery Bradley, Glenn Robinson III, Shaquille Harrison, Torrey Craig, Wesley Iwundu, DeAndre' Bembry

Bigs - Paul Millsap, Serge Ibaka, Noah Vonleh, Jeff Green, Tristan Thompson, Ian Mahinmi, Nerlens Noel

Grab one from each list, possibly two guards or wings, re-sign Carter + Saric and there's your 15. Need to start moving though

McD tried, but actually really struggled to accumulate draft picks during his tenure. Then he wasted them, for the most part.

Now, watching other WC teams pile up draft picks so easily, and some other WC teams acquiring young talent so easily: it sucks. It really sucks.

Doesn't help that we're currently languishing in free agency. I don't want them to make a knee-jerk move, but I really expected them to have a decent shot at nabbing some contributors after adding Chris Paul. But then again, I didn't expect to see this kind of money being thrown around.

At least I like the guys JJ drafts. And I like the guys we've got. And I like that we at least have our own future firsts... oh. Yeah. Well, most of our future firsts. Yeesh, the silver cloud of good playoff prospects does have a tinge of gray around its edges, don't it?

Are any of the remaining options at PG legitimately better than Carter or Payne?

Lol, that's the best of what's left.

I wouldn't be mad with say...Wanamaker, Crowder, Galloway + Noel.

Good mix of shooting and defense.

It does suck seeing these teams with 3 or 4 seemingly good draft picks, and Presti seemingly easily piling up draft picks trading deals you thought would never get draft picks.

And we probably have 1 total draft pick in the next 2 years.

Edit: Scratch that. We have a 2nd rounder in 2022! YES!

Suns bloggers are the worst!

Portis has already signed with the bucks, we’re aiming lower

Skal? Bembry? Tristan Thompson? Cauley Stien? Courtney Lee? Jakarr Sampson? Is Damian Jones signed?

Role was probably a factor for Augustin. In Milwaukee he will play a bunch because he can play with Holiday. He can't really play with Paul so when Chris is healthy that's a 15 minute a night role.

Why do we need another big? Our best lineup is starting Cam and we have Ayton and Saric and just drafted another big.

Our backups for 1/2/3 are Payne, Carter and Nader.

Yes, most of them, unless you are just talking about Payne in the bubble and ignoring the rest of his 4 years.

Because if Ayton goes down we have an unproven rookie and Saric for the 5. That's not great. I think that while I have confidence in Smith, he's unproven, and as such we need some insurance there. Additionally, when I look up and down our roster we are not a very good rebounding team. Oubre was decent on the boards and we have not replaced that at all. So I would like to sign another big.

I truly am not panicking yet. When you think about Augustin and Paul together - that just didn't work

I still Moore and Forbes would be solid pick ups at this point.

My only concern - and we have all seen Bobby Sarver do this and Amin mentioned this - whats his next move. Goes all in and pulls back. CP3 was the shiny object - big time signing but from a dollars standpoint 41m - I would have been fine with Oubre, Rubio and Justin Holiday with what he got from the Pacers and bringing back Saric.

But maybe the Suns are just being smart and strategic. And if somebody offers Carter 35/4 - pack his bags please.
