Suns trade Markieff and Teletovic/Tucker to Detroit for Tobias. Gives the Suns another young player in Harris who fits their timeline of young players.

It would have to be a 1 for 1 trade if we were to acquire Harris from Detroit.
Basically, if Detroit had any interest in spinning off Harris, they likely would have included us in the initial deal.

Though, it would have been funny to hear Harris say he's looking forward to getting to the playoffs and then get traded to Phoenix

Man if they trade Knight for a package of Fry and junk I'm going to get my popcorn ready for the press conference when they try to spin that move. It's crazy I was a huge McD supporter up until the deadline last year but it's pretty embarrassing how bad of a GMing performance he's had the past 12 months. I hope he's renting because he might be back as an assistant in Boston in a couple months.
why would he have to spin it? Everyone knows brandon knight would be addition by subtraction. And then theres that booker kid. If youre talking about the trade FOR BK... I could see him having to do some splanin but right or wrong he saw getting a 20ppg scorer over a 5 pick. In hindsight it was the wrong move but was it that bad at the time?

Yeah the splainin would be that they traded a pretty valuable asset just 12 months ago for Knight and now just giving him away. If that does happen I hope they just flat out say "hey we made a mistake" and not try to BS around it. Feel like accountability and honesty has been in short supply with the suns brass.

That Knight trade was not universally loved by some of us from the beginning. I grew up in Wisconsin before moving to Phoenix in my 20's so still follow and root for the bucks and was very familiar with Knights shortcomings and was pretty dubious of the move from the start. Now I tried to remain optimistic and was hoping for the best and in some ways I still haven't completely given up on Brandon but al ot of my fears the day that trade have played out.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

They got Harris' $16M/yr contract too though.

That's what I think fans are forgetting. Harris is playing nowhere near worth his $16M CONTRACT...and has been said, many times, teams trade contracts, not players (to a degree, of course), but looking at players in a vacuum in a trade will often look unbalanced, but once you figure in what Detriot just signed up for; to pay $16M per for the next, what 3 years for a guy who hasn't lived up to those lofty expectations? Naw, that value is about right, and why Kieff for half the cost is worth more than that, as Kieff is definitely NOT half the player Harris is. Kieff should fetch AT LEAST that much in a trade, and likely more, even with his issues.

No way we just give Knight away.

The Suns front office wants a backcourt that can shoot and with Booker looking like our #2 of the future it will probably be a battle between Bledsoe and Knight for the starting PG spot. The front office can get a real good look at what a Knight/Booker backcourt looks like for the rest of the season. As much as I hate Knight, he is a better shooter then Bledsoe and on paper a Knight/Booker backcourt could be the best 3 point threat in the NBA aside from GSW.

if we trade Knight NOW, it's with Keef and some others for a star or upcoming star. Or a high draft pick.

I hope you're right, but unfortunately we look to be far apart on how much we value Keef compared to the rest of the league.

Hopefully the dumbass doesn't do more dumb things between now and the offseason if we keep him.

Does this mean the serious talks are over, and now off to plan B?

I think that means both teams explore different avenues for now and come back if nothing holds. If Houston can't land Anderson or another PF they may be willing to part with TJones (who they can't re-sign anyways) and one of their weird reverse protected late 1sts.

Not sure what the Pelicans would be looking for. Anderson is who most say but he makes no sense for us as an expiring 1 way player much older than our core. We'd need a 3 way with Anderson going elsewhere.

It means no one outside the front office has a clue.

I said it multiple times. McDonough's moves are never talked about before they happen and come out of nowhere. That is what I expect this trade deadline as well.

Agree 100%

And it always comes out of left field.

No one heard jack about us going after Aaron Gordon until it was dead and had it happened, we all would have been shocked.

Unbelievable that Detroit got Harris for that package. I'm shocked. McD must be shocked. McD is in trouble.

People are vastly overrating Harris here. A PF averaging 15 and 6 shooting 46% and 31% from 3 isn't worth $16 million a year. Markieff, when engaged, is better and makes half that.
