Agree- theKings can get both the Toronto and Memphis second rounders for all I care.

But I just think this team needs a better PG -not only will help Booker but the entire team.

I don’t think we’re going to be a very attractive free-agent destination. Any major improvement will have to come from a trade. And then once we get the guy, we then have to convince him to stay long term. Right up McD’s alley ha ha.

Looking at PG FAs I could see McD bidding on RFA MSmart and EPayton .... of course he’ll almost get a meeting with CPaul and there will be chatter about IT.

Personally, I make a hard play for D’Lo and would settle for Dinwiddie or Lin....

And then will likely end up with Rondo

I think Lin's a good player.

Can do a lot on the court and would be a good PG next to the Suns core

Team looks great, McD. Good call on staying put.

They'll lose him in the Off season.... Suns can offer him a contract that could be for Len

They shouldnt trade for Okafor because of his situation (contract)... wait for FA and go for him.

Monroe is still an asset though

Brooklyn have some decent young players now:

Starters - Dinwiddie, Russell, Crabbe, Hollis-Jefferson, Okafor
6th man / 7th man - Lavert, Allen

It's less worse than ours than I'd like to believe.

Starters - Ulis, Booker, Warren, Chriss, Len
6th / 7th man - Jackson, Bender

that's why trading for him was the wrong move without his bird rights..

Won't the Net's have enough cap space to sign him though?

Even if he tears it up and the market offers him $12-$15m a year, it looks like the Nets will have room?

Godddamnit, it sucks that we didn't offer Philly something of value for him before they didn't lock in his option.

I'm still super puzzled why some team didn't make a move like this prior to his option being declined. And kind of puzzeled why the sixers declined his option. I guess they were afraid no one would trade for him and they would be stuck with his number on their cap next season. But once they declined that option it really limited his trade value.

For teams like the suns or nets or atlanta getting okafor with his option in place next year and then having him as an RFA the following year seems like a realtively low risk high reward type situation.

My understanding is no. Even if you have the cap space you can only sign him to a deal around what he would have made if the option was picked up.

This rule is in place so teams don't pull some funny business and decline an option with a behind the scenes agreement to give that guy a big extension circumventing the 4 year rookie deal.

If a team trades for him they can't pay him more next year than his 4th year option would have been. But any other team can. So they can lose him if someone outbids.

Kirkpatrick being cut by the nets. If the suns had a roster spot he would be worth a flyer but probably not worth letting Monroe go now to bring him in.

Okafor pretty much slides in for what Brool Lopez did for them last season... minus the 3pt shooting... which hopefully develops in time. Okafor is only 21. Lopez developed it as a 27 year old.

If Suns are interested... they can offer something like 4 year 40 Million... which would be what Len wanted. Except Okafor's offense is so much better.
