Is 4.4 assists ok for our PG? I mean Melton was putting up 17/7/7/1.5 in his 5 games in the G-League.

Im just scared Evans will put us back in the Mike James situation. Scoring with little else, always looking out for himself first...and second.

While Booker and Warren are out, his scoring would be welcome. Him and Melton might make a nice backcourt together.

Cool! 5th year Len on a better team coming off the bench playing against the other teams bench for 20 minutes was slightly better than Aytons first 23 games in the NBA.

I'm just saying, people were whining about Len a lot last year. But Ayton is playing similarly with worse defense, rebounding (at least per 36) and shot blocking. Still great for a rookie to get a double double, but it doesn't make him a good defensive player.

It's not all his fault of course, but I'm sure a lot of people who didn't watch him in college expect him not to step aside to give teams layups.

No one said he was a good defensive player, im just fighting against the narrative that many people here are trying to throw out that this game....these losses....its all Aytons doing. Out of 10 negative comments about players or a play during the game, 9 will be about Ayton, the other one or so will be about either Jackson or Igor. Its stupid. Holmes lets Fox go right past him to the rim (TWICE IN A ROW) and he just stands there watching. Not a damn thing is said. Ayton does it and you have 5 posters calling him out for it.

Give it up Kerrsed.... Holmes at least tries and works hard ... he's has his faults too, but lack of effort isnt one of them.

Sheandre does not know how to play basketball. Thats a huge hurdle to overcome when you are in the spotlight every night. Couple that with what is looking like a 'dont give a ****' demeanor... he's/we's in for a long season.

I agree, he has had a nice game. He's not really a PG though, and more of a combo guard. His biggest problem even in G league has been turnovers. And shooting is usually a problem, but if he can make shots, his defense is sorely needed.

he at least gets to the rim, pushes the pace, and defends, more than I can say for any of our other pgs

Haven't been watching cause it was making me nauseous, but good to see Melton stepping up. Not gonna lie though, kind of sucks they'll lose by a smaller margin than 90% of the game was at. Now they can say "we didn't lose by much" and continue to let this crap happen. If they got dismantled, it may have at least lit a pilot light under their collective asses.

Why aren't EJ or Chambers on the Suns coaching staff? Really incorporating some part of the Suns from when you could have pride in them. Listen to their disgust in the voices when they discuss how they team is playing and how weak the number one draft pick has been.

Oh yeah, if he can play like this normally, he is nice next to Booker. Okobo looked really good in his first game with the primary backup role though too, so I guess we will see if it sticks.

But his rebounding can help push the break. We need a good secondary rebounder and certainly need the defense. My main worry about him was shooting, and then after watching him in G league, the turnovers.

He doesn't put himself even in the way of potential ticky tack fouls that's why he doesn't pick up any

Considering how ugly this was, at least we didn't lose by 20+.

I don't think people are blaming Ayton on these losses, but are pointing out how bad is he on certain ends of the game because he's a #1 pick and expectations are high, therefore everyone is watching him closely, in comparison to Holmes. The lack of energy that he plays with is frustrating, and his mental blanks are annoying but that's expected from a rookie so he gets a pass for that. It's just frustrating to see how super soft he is but I'm hoping he learns to be more aggressive after time.

Some fans put on their blinders on this summer after we got the number one pick and said Ayton was the second coming. His flaws in college were obvious and they have translated horribly to the NBA. We've waited for three years for Bender's balls to drop. Now we're waiting on Ayton? :banghead:

I hope they give the celtics the 14th pick.

Much appreciated. You guys will be fine with a healthy booker and Ayton

Of course I’m happy we got Fox, but i sure wouldn’t mind Ayton  he’s a load

I kind of wish they lost by 70. Now it's just another normal loss by Suns standards and nothing will change.

i know it wont happen and Sarver would probably over ride Igor but i'd love for the Suns to start Holmes over Ayton next game just to see how Ayton reacted

Return to Phoenix Suns
