I'd rather rock a lineup of

Bledsoe/Smith
Dragic/Goodwin
Tucker/Green/Morris
Fry/Morris
Plumlee/Len

Sure that's 11 guys, but we will probably always at least have one guy down due to injury, especially with Len's foot condition.

I'd like to have Archie in for the 10 minutes that Blesdoe isn't in the game. That way we still have penetration. Archie needs and deserves NBA minutes.

Rather see Goodwin as first guard off the bench and have Green be first SF off the bench. Cut Marcus' minutes entirely except in case of foul trouble.

Marcus is starting to play well. I think he's one of those guys who you need to leave in the game for some time to get into the rhythm of the game and then he plays good.

I'd rather leave him out.

@carey: Why not better give them one full season under good coach like Hornacek to see what we have there?

Markieff`s first season was a lockout one without summer league play while last season was a complete mess franchise wise.

Because I'd rather develop Goodwin. I also prefer Green to Marcus.

Although it is too early to draw a definitive conclusion as to whether it lasts beyond a couple of games, I like the rhythm the Morris brothers have developed as the leaders of the bench squad. They have even received praise from Tony Parker about how difficult it is to play against them. I would like to see, and I think we will see, more of them together on the court coming off the bench. They are developing a toughness and execution that could go a long way in this team's development.

There is still plenty of playing time available to develop Goodwin and if he builds on how he played against the Spurs. While we all are high on him, it will be better for his development if he earns his playing time through hard work and execution.

Archie Goodwin’s shot will come. It will.

It’s hard to think otherwise after witnessing the latest chapter of his last-in-the-gym series this season. Long after the rest of his teammates had left, Goodwin was still on the floor, hoisting up shots with Head Coach Jeff Hornacek looking on.

After a series of misses, Hornacek instructed Goodwin to try a couple set shots. The idea was to keep Goodwin from jumping as much and make the shot one, fluid motion.

After the lesson was conveyed and illustrated, Goodwin swished his next two attempts from the corner.

“He’s really good [in those teaching moments],” Goodwin said of Hornacek. “He was a really good shooter and he had the same problem I did as far as having a hitch in his shot when he came into the league. He said it took him a year or so to get it to where he wanted it. It was frustrating for him and I know I’m going through the same process. I know it’s going to be frustrating, but I have to just continue to work with it and stick with it and fix it.”

In the meantime, the first-year guard is using his quickness in transition and his defense to carve out minutes off the bench. It paid off on Sunday, when Goodwin came up with six points, three rebounds and three blocks in 16 minutes, all of which marked early career highs through seven games.

“He had a lot of energy out there,” Hornacek said after Sunday’s game. “He created one play where he really sprinted down the sideline and crossed underneath the basket…he did that and it opened it up for a trailer three-pointer right behind him. Those are little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. I thought he did a pretty decent job defensively, too. He was active with his hands and he was moving his feet pretty well.”

Good read Saberestar. Great to see Goodwin doing what's necessary to earn minutes. If Goodwin can get a set shot down pat, he'd be as unstoppable as any rookie out there.

loving that Hornacek has made it a focus for him to get Goodwin "right".... like a mentor almost.

Awesome!

Im hoping McD and Hornacek are HIGH on Goodwin as I am (and some here) :-)

Great to see a head coach giving 1-on-1 time with a very young player who isn't even guaranteed minutes. Shows his commitment to the development of the team rather than to just working with guys who will play heavy minutes. Great top to bottom approach.

Wow... Goodwin's shot is really broken haha. I have a way better shot then him 8-)
Anyway, I'm glad to see Hornacek giving him great pointers, and Goodwin really taking his advice. I wouldn't turn down advice from one of the greatest shooters ever.
Also, do you guys think Hornacek made that three at like 1:30? Shooters never lose their touch. It sounded like all net...

Either he swished it or it was an air ball and hit net.

Oh, for sure he made it. Goodwin's shot isn't that broken. Just a small hitch in it that can be removed with repetition.

This....

He will never be a "SG," but he can create off of the dribble, so when he does this and defenses collapse on him he has to be willing to pass the ball. They see him in a Rondo/Westbrook hybrid mold and at 18 yrs of age.

What ever they are doing, they know better than us. I LOVE the pick and hopes he becomes one of our future big three. :D

Why will he never be a shooting guard? He is young, he has the size the speed. He certainly can develop the shooting touch. I think sg is his most likely future position.

This guy plays with Kobe level passion...And even those swoops to the hoop and jumping off the wrong foot...Kobe-ish...

I keep saying I think best case scenario is Eddie Jones - that slasher, 3pt type who can be a lock-down defender and steals beast too

I'd be thrilled to have an Eddie Jones type of player in Goodwin. Eddie Jones was a very effective two-way player--underrated in his day.
