Warren shouldn't be a 6th man. Guys who score that efficiently don't really ever come off the bench. He's a potential 20 ppg guy on crazy efficiency.

So we start Ingram at the 4? Let's just have Warren come off the bench.

Re: 2016 Draft
To be a starter Warren would need to improve his D a lot or play with great defenders. As I would love to see TJ and Book as starters their scoring may not compensate for all the lost points. I'm hoping they both could become at least decent on D.
But TJ seems to me like a guy that would have no problem with coming from the bench for the good of the team.

I would love to have 2 All-Stars in the same position. Much better than 0 out of 50 players for the past 6 years.

Yes, he will need to improve his D, which is why PJ will very likely start at the beginning of the season. But no rookie is going to come in and play great D. Probably not even in year 2. A few guys do in their second year, but not that many. I don't mind TJ coming off the bench, but if we are still talking about a guy like Jaylen Brown starting over him, that would just kill our offense because no one would guard him on the perimeter and would possibly sag off him a lot in mid range. He'd HAVE to knock down shots or it would kill our whole offense.

Re: 2016 Draft
We miss on #1 and #2... I see us trading down/drafting for others by picking Dunn. Unless we are 100% sold on Bender, these other guys are projects/busts waiting to happen. And even Bender could be a draft and stash scenario. If Dunn's work outs are positive he becomes the clear cut best PG, and that makes him the BPA at #3+ imo.
Even with our glut with pseudo PGs, he could even find a home here, in time, certainly in the time it would take for Brown or Murray or ? to contribute. The guy has the physical tools you covet in PGs and a skill set that is more tangible than 'possible'. This is the type of player teams overlook and ends up being a top producing pick. He could very well be our best PG by the end of the season. Practically could be be by the beginning. I could embrace a Booker/Dunn backcourt for the next 4 yrs.
Ideally, if McMully was able to move Knight on draft day, picking Dunn makes total sense. Even trading Bled, as he is likely more valuable/marketable. McMully still wants to land a 'Big Fish'.... and if I'm betting, he is already chumming the waters and has his ballyhoo rigged up.
Dunn will not be a bad selection... heck, just pick him and send Goodwin packing to Europe where he belongs.

Re: 2016 Draft
Dunn (German for thin) has a risky combo of great physicals and poor distributing (passing/handling/decision making) skills.
You better pray he defies the odds and becomes the next Westbrook or Bledsoe, rather than Smart.

Re: 2016 Draft
I see us taking Bender. I would trade Bledsoe to the Pelicans/Kings to take Dunn there.

Just for injury concerns or do you really think Dunn will be better than Bledsoe?

Doubt Dunn slides past the Wolves. Don't think we need two picks in the top 7 - we're struggling to find one guy we like with our pick at the top, let alone 2!
That said, I also see us taking Bender.

Re: 2016 Draft
Just watched the video on Deyonta Davis and he is by far my favorite prospect for our second pick.
Huge two way potential, and weaknesses that can be easily fixed with enough training and repetition.
He is also mobile and great at rebounding, which is key when you have a guard heavy system

I'm not excited by Davis. Of all the Davises, he reminds me most of Ed. I don't see tremendous potential there.

All my excitement is obviously theoretical, as I've only seen videos and read about him, but there is so much to like: inexperience means room for growth, limited numbers per game but big numbers adjusted per 36 min in rebounding and blocks, smooth touch and good athlete, high odds of developing range with good mechanicals.
He is not a passer nor playmaker by any means, but I see him playing the role Len was playing this year alongside Chandler much more efficiently.

I think the TWolves would take Hield or Murray, because they were one of the worst 3 pt shooting teams in the league. One of those guys would be the perfect 6th many for them.
This team played SO much better with Rubio healthy and he's still young at 25....the perfect vet pg who knows how to make every player on that team better because he is such a good passer as well as one of the 2 best defensive point guards in the league. Thibs will probably love him.

Does he remind anyone else of Larry Sanders? (Minus the dope?)

Just for clarification and context...
Hield is 23 years old.
Dunn is also near 23 years old.

Makes you wonder how well Knight would have done at OU or Providence last season.

Maybe. Hard to take another SG with LaVine on the roster, dontcha think?
Both Suns and TWolves would prefer a PF, if there were one worthy of a pick in that range. Who knows, maybe there is.

I'm just too concerned with Bledsoe's injuries. He wont last another five years and I think that's when we see Booker absolutely peak (hoping Booker turns into this epic BRoy/Klay hybrid). Just think we should sell high on Bledsoe, even though I know McD won't trade him this summer.

Re: 2016 Draft
Well, Ford has them taking Ellenson. If you are worried about Rubio getting injured, then LaVine can play some point, as could probably Murray. But Hield would probably make an awesome 6th man.cosmofizzo wrote:bwgood77 wrote:cosmofizzo wrote:Doubt Dunn slides past the Wolves. They were tied for 25th in 3 pt shooting, and many of their losses they would basically have similar box scores or better looking box stats, but would get killed in 3 pt shooting, and thus would lose. I know Ellenson projects as a stretch 4, but for them, Towns is close to being a stretch (shoots 34% from 3) and plays well with Dieng, and they also have Adreian Payne, a 2nd year PF who shot 42% from 3 as a senior in college, who shot 28% from 3 this past year.
Ellenson shot like 27% from 3.
I don't know. I'd probably add more perimeter shooting.
Rubio's also only 3 years older than Dunn, and obviously a much better passer and defender. But for injury concern I guess it's worth thinking about.
