Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
If Boston does want to include both IT and Crowder that is the better trade. But I am skeptical they will include both of them, Ante, and picks. It would be incredibly un-Ainge-like given he has refused to make trades for stars in the past for guys like Terry freaking Rozier.
That said, if the trade is Boston Phoenix should hope Boston includes as much as possible. They are the current team with more assets than us, and thus losing them would put us in the driver seat later on if another star comes along.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
Celtics fans are already showing their disapprovement on the trade board. Now they know how we felt.
I don't think Kyrie is that much better than IT that Boston would include a top 5 pick or Brown/Tatum..
I could see IT and whatever salary filler is needed that's not a part of the young core going forward. As let's be honest, whatever salary filler Boston has to add, will have value, they lack poor contracts.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
I mean just from a basketball perspective I would rather have Kyrie than IT, but IT was the heart of that Celtics team. I feel like it would be shocking to see him dealt to the Cavs. Let alone the shock on the other side of the coin of seeing Kyrie going to Boston.
I would just worry what the cost would be for Boston. Salaries would mean that Crowder would have to be included I think and that's already a hefty price and I can imagine Cleveland wanting more. It makes me uncomfortable to think about what kind of deal I could realistically see getting done.

Sit back and enjoy boys!
Cavs SHOULD demand more than IT and Crowder. IT is expiring and 3 years older than Irving. By all accounts, Irving is technically better and has championship experience.
If I'm the Cavs, I'm demanding Ante AND the Lakers or Kings pick.

Boston losing Crowder and Bradley this summer. Their D went from a strong point to a weak one. They better hope Brown continues to develop and Tatum learns to play D. I wonder if they wish they drafted Jackson if this deal goes down.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
If the Cavs dont get Tatum or a high lotto pick (Brooklyn or Lakers) in the deal i will laugh my ass off.
IT on an EXPIRING CONTRACT. Mr. Back-The-Brinx-Truck-Up-tomydoor. So they will have to spend a ton of cash to keep him next season. Crowder is a nice roleplayer. Nothing more, nothing less. He is a PJ Tucker in my eyes. Zizic? lol, pass.
I dont see the deal being better than ones that we reportedly offered at all. Sure IT was and all-star, just like Bledsoe would have been if he was on that Boston squad (Or ANY Eastern Conference team for that matter).

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
If the C's get this done with only giving up IT, Crowder, Zicic, and get to keep the Nets and Lakers/Kings pick? Then I don't get how the Suns deal didn't compete with this one (Bledsoe, Chriss or Bender, the Miami pick is comparable). Not to mention they would get him out of the east.
Does anyone think McD is also on the line telling the Cavs to keep him in mind before they pull the trigger? Unless Boston puts in the Nets or Lakers/Kings pick, how is their deal better?

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
Frankly I'm not sure the Suns have really offered much. I think they put their feelers out and don't feel comfortable they would have a good shot at resigning him in two years.
I also wonder if this upcoming draft played some factor. It's a good one with a couple guys with AZ ties really seems like a good year to play all the young dude a **** ton of minutes and take one more spin on the lotto wheel.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
Alright im eating crow now.

Cleveland didnt get that "Young Stud" that they all said HAD to be included, but they got a way way way way way way way higher pick than i ever thought would be possible. Cavs won that deal because of that pick alone.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
With that Brooklyn pick that's way better than our deal. They get two players to help them win now and a likely very high pick for next year. Zizic is a good prospect too.

Re: Trade & FA Ideas & Discussion
some of these Kyrie for IT proposals are egregious if true. hopefully it's just Cleveland propaganda to get other teams to amp up their offers (Phoenix better not bite). or perhaps the NBA is hyping this up in anticipation of a Kyrie vs. Lebron match in the ECF. Though that would likely be an even worse series than last season's for opinions stated below.
Kyrie for Thomas straight up is negative value for the Celtics, but fair returns for the Cavaliers. so the Celtics get one more guaranteed year with an equivalent star guard? big **** deal. let's forget who has the leverage here...Kyrie wants to be traded and the Celtics iirc are NOT a team on his list, while IT has always embraced Boston and the chemistry is there. on the court, Boston really doesn't get any improvement on defense, gets a player who is an equal passer and possibly won't be as offensively efficient/consistent. IT was overall the better player last year; and that's why he made the all-2nd NBA team while Kyrie didn't even make the 3rd team. and lets not forget that IT, as trade throw-in more or less by Phoenix at the time, led Boston back to the playoffs, after the team was dismantled. While not a fair comparison- Kyrie hasn't given much evidence that he can maintain a team the same way.
nonetheless, IT for Kyrie isn't even close to being a valid trade as one makes 3x as much. And all of the Boston guys that aren't getting paid 10 million more than Kyrie are on very reasonable deals, so there is no financial benefit. In order for a trade to work two additional players need to be included out of this pool: Marcus Smart, Marcus Morris, Jae Crowder, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum. So even if the Celtics got marginally better with Kyrie (and that's being optimistic), the net value is negative...and to include pick(s) with this? What the hell is Boston doing? does Ainge know that losing the playoffs in an earlier round doesn't give him another pick? The Celtics got clobbered by the Cavs in the playoffs, but they still manged to steal 1 game and had a better regular season record. While unlikely, the best bet for the Celtics making a surprise upset is that Kyrie's demands complimented by the FO's reluctance to part ways ends up imploding on itself, while the Cavaliers age gets the best of them, physically.
if Boston REALLY doesn't want to pay IT, then they probably should have never signed Hayward, or traded their 1st pick. And continue to hold onto their assets as they have the luxury of being in the playoffs while still developing the way a rebuilding lottery team would (thx Brooklyn). Simply wait to 2020 or 2019 to see if Kyrie would accept being the main piece in a semi-rebuilding team.
