Totally disagree. I prefer 4 shooters getting open threes because he is rolling to the hoop and he is down there for the rebound, versus him shooting a three with no rebounding. Should have drafted Bamba if that’s what you want at C, A 3D guy. High efficiency scoring is what you want, people assume that 3’s are the only way to to do it, I disagree. If you have a behemoth down low then utilize him, if not then get a 3 Point shooting C, that really does not exist outside of Markkenen, unless you count these undersized 6’7 guys a C’s Who Ayton would destroy. Ayton shoots 70% on them and they shoot 35% on him, however Ayton opens it up for the others to shoot a better percent from three than the other team and gives us better rebounding thus more shots.

Should have drafted Bamba if we wanted to shoot 3s? Bamba isn't a shooter. Ayton was much better from 3 in college (34.3% to Bamba's 27.5%) and is projected to be much better from 3 in the pros. Did you mean Jackson?

I don't see a reason for him not to develop a 3PT shot. All the top bigs right now shoot the 3 and it's an incredibly important and impactful weapon to have because it's not only big men that go to the rim. There's a reason why KAT is a historically great and efficient scoring big man and it's not because he doesn't shoot the 3.

Having that range opens up 3PT pick and pop opportunities as well for the ball handler and the screener. Imagine Booker getting an Ayton screen and now Ayton has the option of popping out for the 3 and opening the lane up for Booker's drive or roll to the rim.

Of course I would love for him to have a 3pt ball, however, that's not what I'd want him doing. He needs to work on his inside game first and foremost.

We don't want post ups after post ups after post ups. That kills tempo especially when all cylinders are firing. How many of the championship level teams run a high % of post ups for offense?

I'd rather Ayton get his from the flow of the offense than force post up possessions.

I want whatever we can do best--better than the other team. I want wins. Win with offense, win with defense, win slowing it down, win speeding it up--I don't care. Just use our talent to its fullest.

Yes and ayton having a 3 ball will help us win in whatever fashion is getting the job done on the night. I would argue a that having a 3 ball is more important than having post moves. But in aytons case he’s already really good in the post so let’s immediately expand his game with a 3 ball

Can't wait to watch Ayton vs Jordan. Ayton having a good outside shot against centers like Jordan would help a lot in the long run. I feel like DJ will have to guard him all over the place and could give space to other athletic PHX wings to just penetrate and create offense. Should be a super fun game.

Yup, him being a threat to 'pop' on a P&R would make him an absolute nightmare to defend.

Whatever. He doesn't slow the game down now. I never said I wanted him to slow the game down because I want him to have inside game. He rolls and dunks or gets the ball and shoots. He doesn't know how to face up and get to the hoop or has any back to the basket moves to punish the Draymond Greens of the world. If you want him to just start working on the three ball before his inside game, well we are just on two different pages. Ayton and 3 ball is plain senseless right now, and that's why he hasn't shot any as of yet.

Yea lets draft Ayton to shoot 3's and beat GS at their game versus, get a guy who can score easy buckets inside at will.

By forced post up, you mean mis-matches?

If Gobert, Adams, Jokic, Jordan, etc have to chase him around because he has an outside shot, it will be a lot more effective than trying to score inside against them...and it will give lanes for Booker, Jackson, Warren, etc to take it to the rim without a rim protector there.

Deandre has enough range, even a 3PT shot as seen in a training video. He has not used it so far as there is much more in his game. In the meantime why not ask the wings to learn how to shoot, which is their primary responsibility. If they can't do it there is always someone available in free agency.

The Suns just need to build something like Magic or Rockets of 90s and surround him with shooters, it's that simple.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they probably asked the wings to learn how to shoot. No, going back to 90s basketball is not a good idea.

I gave Magic and Rockets as example of teams, which surrounded a dominant C with great shooters. You think this will not work these days ? Basically dominating both inside and outside.

Yes, to some extent, but those old Rockets were shooting half as many 3s as they are today. Their was more low post play then too which isn't real effective. You just need to really spread the floor now and have a finisher in there.

Howard was more of a finisher, rebounder and shot blocker.

That's exactly what I'm saying. 4 shooters + Ayton as a finisher(a great one at that). He is simply adding the option to go inside in certain circumstances, which is a big plus.

Adding 3pt shot would be great but it's not the end of the world if he won't.

You know what's funny? Only GS is winning titles playing this type of ball.....no one else.

So now Ayton is Steph Curry :nonono:

No, he is more like Towns...dragging a defender out to allow guys to get to the rim. I'm not saying do it often. I'm saying it's an important piece of today's game, especially when a guy like JJ can't really shoot and you don't want him driving with Ayton's defenders nearby. He drove into 3-4 defenders with no plan enough last year.
