Yes, lets continue using a misogynistic and sexist nickname for a key player while the team and the owner are under a microscope for sexism allegations. Nothing bad can come of this, right?

Please compare and contrast the use of Sheandre to a bunch of scantily-clad, big-breasted women plastered all over the beginning of each game thread. Enlighten everyone.

I shouldn't have to defend my previous statement when you can see by responses and And1s it is offensive. There was also only one game thread out of three that had some pictures, and they were not scantily clad, but people who pose for pictures. The dance team team also performs at the beginning of games in not much more that is worn at a pool and they are respected and compete to make the team.

Britney Griner would like a word with you. I am unsure if you are trying to bash only Ayton or Ayton and women with your nickname, but regardless, the sheer fact that you ARE trying to use it as an insult to Ayton means that it is an insult to women.
I know it is offensive to some even if others think it is funny or think it is silly that some might find it offensive. We do have women on this board as well. Anyway, I know it would be appreciated by some if you would come up with a new one.
Sheesh
How about ‘WeeAndre’
No offense to any diminutive ones here. It’s more about effort than stature
What ? Me Worry ?

You're good at coming up with them. I'm sure you can think of something, even though his real name fits given his defense.

DeYAWNdre is the best and most apt name ive seen around here imo
I think the good luck charms are just as bad as the nickname fwiw - both probably not needed.

Well reports and PMs say otherwise.
We can have our next poll about this all important question.
(I don't find it offensive, it's well within the trash-talk culture, I'd be surprised if he doesn't get called that in games by the opposition)
A lot of Arizonans don't mind or like racist comments as well, but that doesn't mean I'm going to allow a poll to determine what's acceptable.
Besides, there ARE people who clearly DO find it offensive. This isn't just me being a hard ass, it's respecting the community.

Re: 2021-22 Season Discussion and Speculation
Let's move away from the names and actually critique their games.
It's only been 3 games but Bridges' has looked solid offensively and defensively giving us that guy we can throw at opposing team's best player. He's our #2 PPG scorer with 17ppg on the same elite efficiency as last season. The difference is that despite playing roughly the same MPG, he's taking almost 3FGA more.
This is in line with what I expected this year with CP3 consciously taking a step back offensively this year (-3FGA) and allowing Bridges to be the #2 guy. It could/should have been Ayton but right now in their offensively development, Bridges can just do more so it makes sense to be him right now.

I hadn't even looked at his efficiency yet, but it's quite amazing he still has a 66% TS%...and can basically shut down people like LeBron (though LeBron was good from 3).

Bridges has already shown he is well worth his new contract. The other guy not so much. So far he is statistically having career-worst numbers in every single category other than steals. He's earning every penny of that next contract he was hoping to get to. His defense has been really bad too.

He only emerges when we lose. I rarely saw him during the playoff run-except during the Milwaukee series of course. Then he found the time. Coincidentally, of course.

Shamet or Payne? Those are the only two other new contracts. We've also only played 3 games and Payne only 2. I can understand Shamet as he is paid a lot of what he does. Ayton's raw stats are not great but he's played solid D so far and has been worth the $12 million he's making this year.

Re: 2021-22 Season Discussion and Speculation
We have a 5 game home stand, only two games in the next week and our next 4 are fairly easy (Sac-though they beat Portland, Cleveland, New Orleans and Houston)...then we have Atlanta, then the Kings on the road and Portland at home. Seems like we should be able to at least go 4-3 but should even do better than that, like 5-2 or possibly 6-1.

I think Bridges has been great - and this is why to me his contract was a priority. I wouldn't be surprised if he outplays it this year.
Payne is good value - 7m for a solid back up pg is fine and we know what he can do.
Shamet - slight overpay but flexible contract. Let's give him a minute to get accustomed to the team. Don't forget he is one of only a few new guys this year. Plus playing funny minutes behind our best p;layer. needs to find his niche.
DA - well, if its max or nothing, no harm in giving him a year to proves he's worth it. His defence is invaluable to us, but through three games he hasn't shown himself to be on that max level. If he improves from here - great, if he doesn't - great. Save bobby (or whoever owns the team by years end) some pennies and we still have a great defending, decently skilled centre.

If they don't know if they wanna max by the trade deadline, then trade him. Minnesota will be **** again by them I'm sure. Karl-Anthony Towns, come on down!

Yeah, other GMs around the league (per Vecenie) said they'd give him the max, so I imagine he can get a max offer or close to it so it would be match, S&T (probably not great value coming back) or just let go and not create cap space given we are enough over the cap to where we wouldn't have more than MLE anyway.
I did wonder if they are keeping his shots down to hopefully keep his contract offers down.

They are not gonna trade Towns for Ayton...and we won't include another core guy to make it worth it for them. Maybe a 3 way for Jarrett Allen and a pick or something, but we'd need to send more salary out...maybe Saric.

Well DA is the 14th highest-paid center in the league right now. For all centers he is 30th in points, 22nd in rebounds, 24th in assists, 31st in blocks, 20th in FG%, 42nd in FG%, 31st in FT attempts, 37th in FT percentage, 17th in steals, and 50th in true shooting percentage. He has the 9th worst defensive rating for all centers and 6th worst defensive win share. He hasn't played well on either end of the court. He's certainly not earning his paycheck under his current contract and thank goodness James Jones or Sarver didn't pay him a 5-year maximum.
